During the space battle, when Admiral Ackbar says "Concentrate all fire on that Super Star Destroyer" you can see a regular Star Destroyer being blown up. That's caused by a squadron of B-Wings. Would have been awesome to see the battle scene with them!
I wish when George Lucas was tinkering with the movies and doing the special edition he could have taken some time and added a scene or two with the B-wings, but nooooooooooo, he wasted all the budget and effects on Jabba's palace and the ugliest blues band ever.
It was a nice touch having Mon Calamari pilots in the B-wings. I remember in Rogue Squadron II, the description for the B-wing said it was personally designed by Admiral Ackbar himself.

Yes, I recently got the Sculpting a Galaxy book and that's why we didn't get to see the B-Wing in action as they intended. The little we see was shot in angles. Shots of them coming towards the camera were useless due to their profile and they remained in the cutting room.

And so, the name just stuck.

They didn't just lop torps at the SD, they had to make a run at it and try to break through jamming and defensive fire to find a good spot on the hull.

Proton torpedos gotta be one of the most inconsistent things in Star Wars. They’re yellow here, red in ANH, blue in TPM. Possibly green in ROTJ but I think the falcon shot concussion missiles. Their power capabilities is all over the place too.
The B-Wing scenes are from X-Wing vs TIE Fighter: Balance of Power and the scenes with the Sullustan and the Mon Calamari are deleted scenes from RotJ. (The latter are on the Blu-Rays)

There is no way in Hell a few proton torpedoes can destroy an entire SSD like that. It was just hitting the hull, it didn't hit any main reactors. But yeah. I love and/or don't mind many of the changes to the original, including Boba Fett with the voice of his father, the Emperor's hologram transmission being Ian McDiarmid, Anakin's ghost being far more recognizable, the Sarlacc looking more threatening, seeing the celebration is on other planets too, not just the moon of Endor, having a far more emotional soundtrack at the end of Return of the Jedi, Jabba and Boba Fett waiting for Han Solo at Docking Bay 94 and of course Greedo shooting first . . . GETTING TO THE POINT NOW; When it comes to vehicles, what I love the most are the -Wing Fighters. I love the X-Wings, love the Y-Wings and love the A-Wings, but the most I love are the B-Wings . . . George, when making changes to the originals, why oh why couldn't you also add more B-Wing footage? It didn't have to be a lot, but it'd be nice to see B-Wings shot things, like as much screen time as the A-Wings got (like when two TIE Interceptors came from behind the guy who said "got it", and then you see them destroy his A-Wing; killing him too).
With the new Star Wars movies I'm making I hope one is based around Rogue Squadron. A movie with nothing but star fighter battles would be really cool. A rogue Squadron movie would probably center around X-Wings but I'd be happy just to see any starfighters in action. I like the B-Wing best but I think a B-Wing movie would be less likely to get approved by Disney since most people only know the X-Wing I'm kind of surprised how few movies there are with starfighters, Star Wars, Wing Commander, and the Last Starfighter are the only movies I've found that even have them!

Concussion missiles are not the Star Wars equivalent of nukes, a human in proximity of say 50 feet away can easily survive the explosion and walk away from it unharmed, the most being the shock waves from the explosion throwing a 50-feet-away-human a few feet back. Proton Torpedoes are for taking on big slow moving ships, concussion missiles are more precise meant for targeting fast moving starfighters. Jango Fett even used one on Obi-Wan and that didn't blow up like Hiroshima, it blew up as small as another random fighter from the Battle of Yavin (Death Star attack 22 years later). 2.) Those are not concussion missiles, they're proton torpedoes like I said in my OP. They even say it in the video; 0:34.
You nailed it. I wish I had better versions of the X-Wing vs TIE Fighter scenes were better in quality. It was still fun to make non the less. I am working on my own "Lost cut" of ROTJ. I have finished ANH and TESB and a little over 17 minutes of footage to both films.

Also the two clips around the falcon are from the Disney ride. I used some of that for my "Special Edition" of the Star Wars Holiday Special. In that project, I cut out over an hour of the really bad footage, and added in about 7 minutes to make the tone a little more serious and not so goofy.
B-Wings make no sense to me. In the games the fuselage doesn't swing around the cockpit pod, as in the pilot is always "on top" like as shown. In the shows and toys the fuselage rotates around the cockpit, and not just for landing where it ends up on the "side." If you're a B-Wing pilot, how do you know on which "orientation" to set your ship at while in battle?

Bit puzzling why they didn't use the Special edition as a chance to add the B wings back in to the battle via CG insertions. I guess it just didn't occur to them.

You know, I wish the “Special Editions” would include completing all this unused footage into the film. Sure it won’t make up for the pretty boring first half of ROTJ but these side characters give a whole lot of urgency in the “War” part of the franchise
It's all good. I was in a hurry and recorded at night while my wife and two kids were sleeping, I just did it in one take and it matched, so I went with it. But, I do actually appreciate the comments. I will likely change it before I add that clip to my fan can of Jedi with my other Jedi clips.
Yes it was. I did this for fun, to show another SSD being destroyed. I found this video game footage of this SSD blowing up. I don't make my own special effects so I have to use what I can find :) Thanks for watching.
Ha Ha HA.... thanks... I have failed as a voice actor. That's my voice with a little effects added. I wanted to match the lips from the clip on the Blu Ray it's just the actor talking in the mask. I found the voice for the other pilot on TH-cam, searching around the learn how to speak another language stuff.
thats kind of cool. i dont think we honestly ever see anyone but humans piloting ships and i think its cool we see other species can piloit ships because i thought it was nothing but humans politing ships. it just sounds like the mon calimari sounds really bored -_-

This is the one thing I have wanted from all the special editions and bullshit sequels: one scene with B-Wings contributing meaningfully to a space battle. Sigh... Even in RoS they trolled us with odd B-Wing variants that were on screen for at most 5 seconds. Why is my favorite fighter so very neglected? That "disappears because thin profile" excuse no longer holds any water. Keep the sequels, Rogue One, and Solo; just give me one satisfying B-Wing scene.

Razor Rezek I get your point. As I understand this is all of the missing scenes left and the additional clips are meant to complement them. I wrote this after I was looking for actual B-wing footage and since it was t what I was looking for I was a bit bummed.
B-wings are far more powerful though. There's a Ralph McQurrie B-wing painting featuring them destroying a Stardestroyer. Y-wings are Bombers however and don't come with a super laser capability that the B-Wings do. Even on paper, the B-wing were suppose to be better!

Can't for the life of me figure out why when Lucas was making his special edition version of ROTJ he couldn't find a way to do something with the B-wings.

You know, I wish the “Special Editions” would include completing all this unused footage into the film. Sure it won’t make up for the pretty boring first half of ROTJ but these side characters give a whole lot of urgency in the “War” part of the franchise

It's all good. I was in a hurry and recorded at night while my wife and two kids were sleeping, I just did it in one take and it matched, so I went with it. But, I do actually appreciate the comments. I will likely change it before I add that clip to my fan can of Jedi with my other Jedi clips.

The B-wings were cut because the thin shape of the ship would cause it to disappear against the stars on the blue screen.

I have failed as a voice actor.
That's my voice with a little effects added. I wanted to match the lips from the clip on the Blu Ray it's just the actor talking in the mask. I found the voice for the other pilot on TH-cam, searching around the learn how to speak another language stuff.

thats kind of cool. i dont think we honestly ever see anyone but humans piloting ships and i think its cool we see other species can piloit ships because i thought it was nothing but humans politing ships. it just sounds like the mon calimari sounds really bored -_-
But those pilots sound a bit too much off.
The pilot voices are off because I found one on TH-cam for a language class and I tried to make the other myself. Agreed, they are off, but what I had to work with... :)
This is the one thing I have wanted from all the special editions and bullshit sequels: one scene with B-Wings contributing meaningfully to a space battle. Sigh... Even in RoS they trolled us with odd B-Wing variants that were on screen for at most 5 seconds. Why is my favorite fighter so very neglected? That "disappears because thin profile" excuse no longer holds any water. Keep the sequels, Rogue One, and Solo; just give me one satisfying B-Wing scene.

Razor Rezek I get your point. As I understand this is all of the missing scenes left and the additional clips are meant to complement them. I wrote this after I was looking for actual B-wing footage and since it was t what I was looking for I was a bit bummed.

Y-Wings are still better.
B-wings are far more powerful though. There's a Ralph McQurrie B-wing painting featuring them destroying a Stardestroyer. Y-wings are Bombers however and don't come with a super laser capability that the B-Wings do. Even on paper, the B-wing were suppose to be better!
