Well stated on these rigs being a great all around vehicle. My wife and I have the full-time 4x4 (basically awd, also 2004) version with 5.7l v8, and its been very dependable (17 mpg is the best we've ever seen out of her). Our experience has been a little more rough, but the powertrain continues working. My biggest issues personally, are the 16 spark plugs in a v8 concept and the suspension and/or steering system need more attention than I'd like to admit. But at 20 years old (were actually the 2nd owners) and currently 197k miles, she runs like a beast. As long as I keep maintaining her, 250k miles is easily attainable. Also, she's not worth selling, cause she's worth keeping. ;)
I own the 2005 think some of those issues were fixed because I was able to fold a seat with a car seat next to it, also I have had 3 mechanic’s tell me that the truck suv is solid just did a Baja run and no issues solid truck
I love mine I've got a 427 hemi in mine but i have a question my gas gauge stopped working and my fuse box does not say where anything is like other rides I've had so how can i find out witch fuse goes to what do i can see if it went bad first ?? Please and Thank u
I have an 04 and i love it ive done alot of work to mine i paid $350 for mine it had a blown motor at 98000 miles ive sunk about 15k into putting a custom built engine in it. I wouldnt get rid of it for anything
The spacing is pretty tight under the cowl, but you really don't need to remove it just to change spark plugs. It's just a matter of finessing your tools and your arm through that space, especially cylinder #5 or 6 (whichever is closest to the brake booster).
What is best way to fix the leaking cowl problem. Can someone fabricate a diverter/shield to place under the cowl that fits over the back side of the engine?
Not sure to be honest, I’m ocd so I went to the dodge dealer last year & bought the new plastic cowl panel for about $400, figured it would last another 16 years
You DO NOT need to remove the cowl to change spark plugs. You're working entirely too hard. I do recommend sealing the sides of the intake manifold to prevent hydrolocking, that cowl leaking water on the engine is why you see many with broken rods that happen during startups.
It’s 50/50 once you take the cowl off everything is right there accessible, it’s just a pain because you have to take it off for just about everything other than changing the oil 😂

Those look 1000 times better with the Ram wheels and bigger tires. I’ve never liked that body style till I saw this one.

a 3rd or 4th gen Durango is one of my dream cars. Some day I WILL get me one.
Same here with the later gen Durangos, the look sleek but still have a muscle car flare to them

I have an '04 Dakota 4x4. Wondr if you could get a cowl from one and replace yours? Plenty of room then.
Things in nice shape
Thank you, we usually garage keep it, & fix things when it breaks so it doesn’t get too beat up.

I have an 07 and it has its issues. Rear main seal, ABS system and lower front control arms.
Did u have to lift the truck to put those wheels on?
No lift required over some bumps it can touch but also the torsion keys can be cranked up for more room
Just picked up one for 800 bucks good condition the air conditioner doesn't work or the power steering pump is leaking
Must be tough working on it with half the engine under the cowl!!!????
