It's just a recall for alternator. Its free. Dodge's aren't bad.
(Toyota had gas pedal that gets stuck floored and exploding airbags while driving but i mean toyota is perfect. Who cares if your car flew into river or airbag exploding while driving
bigger problem is alternator. Of course this was sarcasm. Toyota is great but other car manufacturers are also great. Scotty is great mechanic but why always "because it's dodge this is wrong".
Take for example dodge demon you can do hundreds of burnouts and still drive home normally.
Every car has good and bad things. Don't hate car because of one thing. Scotty should just say people if you have durango check the recalls.

Scotty is right the central computer programming is to blame for these. I had a 2011 Citadel after 3 years of owning it I started having these issues.
    - replaced the alternator
    - recalled the fuel pump relay (then it started not shutting off the fuel pump after engine stop (would come out to 1/8th a tank less)
    - multiple recalls to replace the sunroof wiring harness (possibility of setting the car on fire)
    - Central computer was replace 3 times
    - Recalls for the possibility of the engine not shutting off on rollover (programming issue)
    - Recalls for the possibility of air bags not deploying on crash or deploying randomly!
    - Adaptive Cruise Control would freak out anytime I passed another dodge
I've lived inside and out of an engine bay since I could turn a wrench. I'm also in IT and I actually got the car to exhibit the conditions while decelerating down an off ramp form 65 to a 25 mile an hour turn Engine stall (confirmed with scanner at the dealer that it thought it has rolled over) computer replaced.
I was contacted by a law firm that is doing lemon law on I think 2010-2014 but it would have taken 18 months or more SO... I traded it and learned my lesson.
They look cool they have power but they are literally death traps.

There’s a common recall on many of these years - the fuel pump relay.

My other big gripe with those year’s Durangos is that the SXT’s V6 offered almost NO pickup/pep. They revamped their V6 around 2018 to make it a reasonable acceleration. The vehicle is just too big for less than 280 hp

You are absolutely right. As a matter of fact and by coincidence my son asked me the day before yesterday if I could accompany him to San Antonio Texas to check out a 2012 Dodge Durango citadel that was for sale at a Toyota dealership. When we arrived at the dealership they informed us that the vehicle was at the dodge dealer for a recall 30 minutes later they informed us that the recall was for the air bags and that there was no resolution to the problem and that they couldn't sell it to the public like that, it had to go to auction. Since we traveled 160 miles and to not have it be a waste of time we searched the internet and found three others. They were R/Ts with the 5.7 hemi. To make a long story short all three were giant POS's. The main problems were with engine control issues. Mostly with the (multiple displacement system) which cuts the engine From 8 to 4 cylinders for fuel economy.

Can’t tell you how many times it wouldn’t start for no apparent reason and the build quality was horrible- body panels wouldn’t line up, plastics split. That was my first and last Dodge! Traded it in for a Honda.

I owned a 2012 Durango R/T. This thing would run and drive fine most of the time, however once in awhile it wouldn't recognize the key fob and wouldn't start up. I took it to the dealer they wanted to replace the alternator which I thought was crazy. I did my own research and turned out it had a faulty pcm. The dealer actually took my advice and replaced the PCM thankfully it was still under warranty. All has been great since. I just found it funny because I asked them to check the PCM and they told me it wasn't that. After going back a 2nd time going there they replaced it for me. I wouldn't have went back if it wasn't under warranty but when I called Chrysler they told me to go back to the dealer to have it replaced there.

Maybe (I'm not a mechanic, just an amateur), the troube codes came from the moments the car run out of electric power. Those sensors get low voltage and start to send erractic signals.

it's not the alternator....we have seen 13 Chrysler Dodge and Jeep products with the same issue...its programming issues...we have had oscopes and scantool hooked up and had the problem produce itself on a roadtest. the injectors lost ground on some and the ignition lock cylinder stopped input on others but it all came down to reflashing the software's to get the vehicle to work again. took a week to trace on the first one

My 2014 Charger RT had numerous issues with The MDS, Alternator and then when i had a tuner to override that crap it wouldn't work because dodge locks the PCM. you need a $1100 PCM on top of a simple $300 tune any other sportscar can handle no problem. Another good trick is to look for U0100 network comms codes. The module without them is the one shutting down. I tracked down a random hard shift on an Allison to a bad firewall pass through using this method. The vehicle would hit a bump just right, the bulkhead connector would unseat, and the trans module would turn off.

My 2002 Durango had an issue where it would shut off completely for seemingly no reason. It was the ground on the back of the PCM. When I moved from New Jersey to North Carolina, the change in temperature and humidity messed with it. Took forever to find out and NC "Master Mechanics" were no help. Other than that my Durango is sitting at 167k miles and running strong (knock on wood). I love the thing because it is a tank. Everyone that has hit me has totaled their vehicle while I get to drive mine home with minor scratches lol.
