This was Amazing to watch! I have malar cheek dents. They have gotten worst recently. I thought the crease was just a shadow, like your patient. But, even after my cheek was filled. The line is still there, it’s almost like hyper pigment or a scar. If that makes since. What can I do about it? Would a chemical peel help. What cause the discoloration? Even after it’s been filled? Thanks in advance?

Dr, thanks for the video. How do you assess that the needle is releasing filler at bone level? Is it because you felt that you hit 'it' (the bone)? Love how you kept talking and this helps distracts the patient and is also reassuring that you kept telling her what you are doing. I like that as a patient.
Thanks for watching, I can feel bone when I’m on it. I do try to inject slow and steady so I don’t go crashing into the bone with a needle. Slow and steady decreases pain and chances of complications. I also use my hands a lot to check depth.

Do you inject the filler right on the bone?
Placement of the filler depends on how deep the volume loss is. I inject down to the deepest pocket of loss and layer up. Product choice is very important when layering dermal filler. The thicker more viscous the filler, the deeper it needs to be injected. In this particular video, I layered the cheek filler up into subcutaneous tissue.

Hi Cheryl, most of the patients we treat are between 40-70 years old. Volume loss typically starts in our 40’s and continues to occur as we age. Volume restoration in the cheeks alone can make a significant youthful improvement.
