My ex used to tell me "I'm always at peace when I'm here with you." Whether it was true or not doesn't matter anymore. In Dec it will be 4 yrs since we broke up & he STILL tries to reach out occasionally even though he has a child now with the person he got with after me! I pity her - she's stuck with him forever now bcuz of the child! I thank God every day that I'm free & loving life again!

The toxic is the opposite. Dark and empty. One must look at our broken selves. Painful. The family of origin is generally where it started. Not our fault. I have been blaming my relationship failures on others. My codependency tendencies are definitely a reason for why things end up how they do. I am trying to heal at 59 years. I wished I possessed this information 40 years ago.
