I love dry sauteeing them with some butter and a tiny bit of salt and some pepper. So good

I found these in my front yard in Colorado. I made 1000000000% sure they were safe by taking pics and posting to mushroom forums, examining all the specifics, and doing a spore print before I ate any of them.

Great viddy! Many thanks for helping!
I'm finding these in woodland edges too, here in Scotland... and never buggy... massive numbers this year, and incredibly tasty.

Early August, NE UK. Just found some of these in grassland. We have had tremendous rain for three weeks with the first show of sunshine this morning🌞. I guessed they were fairy champignon but came here to make sure! Thrilled I have found something edible...now I know where and what they are thanks to your marvellous channel. 🥳.

These are very common in Bulgaria, especially in the mountain pastures.

Very interesting. I’ve only recently become a crazy mushroom enthusiast and am currently reading everything I can get my hands on and annoying everyone I know with various mushroom info and giving Christmas presents of books on mushrooms :)

I think I found some of these today while walking the dog, brought a few home to research but still not sure and definitely don't want to be a test bunny

Marley, the Scotch Bonnets are more commonly know as the Stiff Nips where I come from. Which does make sense.

This mushroom also has a quite distinctive odor, because they excrete cyanide they smell a bit like almonds while smelling sweet and mushroomy at the same time. The amount of cyanide is not dangerous when eating them, except if you eat a huge amount raw, cooking or drying gets rid of the cyanide.

Hi, thanks for the video. I have found quite a few of these growing on the grass by a road near where I live (not busy road but regular daily traffic throughout the year). I was wondering whether it would be safe to eat them, or a bad idea because they might be polluted with car exhaust? Thanks

I tend to not pick from busy roads. Country lanes I'll eat from. But my preference is that there is a natural barrier between any roads and where I am picking from. Hedgerows trees and banks soak up many of the particulates that can get into our foraged fare, so if you are picking from the other side of them it's better..

Wait isnt the mousseron a different kind of marasimus species that tastes strongly like garlic?
Edit: My mushroom books call marasimus scorodonius mousseron

The thing I don't like about this one, on open grassland, is in the first few seconds of the video: Dog peeing - not a great additional flavouring! But, I suppose it could be worse! :)

Dammit! Found so many of these last year, but didn't know they were edible :/ We have zero tradition for eating this mushroom in Denmark
