At 6:50 it calls “wood ears”, in the south of China it rains a lot. We could find it everywhere. So for the older generations saying not good not safe to eat fresh wood ears. Some people got the allergy or toxic when they cooked it fresh. We always drying it first, then cook it later for safety.

I’ve never committed on anyone’s videos before but I wanted to thank you for growing my interest and expand my knowledge of mushrooms. As a gardener I’m embarrassed not knowing the fungi that I find growing around me. When I found your videos last summer I delved in and for the first time ever, this past November, had the courage to try my first wild mushroom. So THANK YOU for this and all of your videos was what I really wanted to say, that are very much appreciated.I may even have to treat myself to a copy of your book as you promoted it so well. 😉 ps the mushroom I tried was a velvet shank 👍 looking forward to the next video.

Fungi is the fun guy. Mycelium is the 5g without the electronic alphabet. Fungi is the god material. The missing link if you will. The alpha and omegs. The fungi giveth and taketh. No joke. Mould is fungi. God is mycelium.

Very informative and it's amazing how few people actually go foraging for mushrooms. I am a Brit who lives in Austria and I often go out foraging for mushrooms. I used to go out with my grandfather as a boy and our favorite were field mushrooms, horse mushrooms and Parasol mushrooms. The most common mushrooms we have here in the area I live in are various Boletus mushrooms including Boletus Edilus and loads of parasol mushrooms. Though this year I only found one parasol. I must have found over 40 Kilos of various Boletus this year, including 11 Kg in one 2 hours foraging session.
