    Just shot a PB of 79 with a Z-Star I found on the first hole! Absolutely love it and it still looks exactly like it did (brand new) when I first found it after 18 holes. Absolutely loved the feel and the durability is excellent just as you said Rick.

      Srixxon is making some great balls. When I run out of my 10 z xv's I maybtry the diamond.

    Thanks for the review. My handicap is high, so my ball choice isn't as particular as yours. But your videos has got me back down to high 80s low 90s range and trust me i enjoy playing more when shooting under 100

    Only 2 balls I really love to use in my bag in serious rounds are the Bridgestone E6s and the srixon Z stars. I used to play the old Nikes and callaways but these 2 when I was looking around were always my favorite and most consistent ball I've ever used

    • @nowaythatnamewastakn
      @nowaythatnamewastakn 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's quite a difference in balls there. I used to play E6 for awhile a couple of years ago, now I'm trying out more premium balls and leaning towards the Z Star. What is it you like about both these balls in particular considering the difference in quality and playability?

    And 5 years later. So glad you posted the video as I've just bought a mix of 50 lake balls of the Z star and the Z star XV for 35 Quid off Amazon so happy days. Thanks a lot 👍🙋‍♂️.

    Hey Rick, Just finishing a total rebuild of my Golf Game from Top to Bottom.
    Swing to Equipment and everything in between including my ball.
    I am switching to the Z Star.
    Before multiple surgeries on my knees I had become close to taking and passing my PGA PAT's and working at a Very nice upscale Private Country Club.
    I played and Shot a 79 and 2 days later I played 9 and shot a 39.
    Everything has come into a Complete Serenity.
    However My Mother Died Last Monday and we laid Her to rest on Friday.
    Now I'm Dedicating the rest of my Journey to Her .
    I will NOT FAIL.

    Z-Star is 3 piece, XV is 4 piece. They use a white mantle that is hard to distinguish from the cover. Great balls. XV is my gamer

    Z Star have always been one of the most durable premium balls. I don't buy balls as I find so many, but in golf stores I often see Z Star reduced to about $48 AU per dozen, whilst your ProV1 types are about $85. It would be a no brainer for me.

    These balls perform superlatively in windy conditions. I live in Utah at 5700' elevation. We get a good afternoon wind nearly every day. I have either Q Stars or Z Stars in my bag AT ALL TIMES! The Spin Skin Technology Truly works and nearly negates a up to a medium-firm wind. I brought them with me to Turtle Bay Resort for my first amateur tournament. On the range after the first day of play, a female competitor next to me exclaimed how the wind sabotaged her round and she felt doomed for the next day's play if the wind returned. I told her about the Q Stars(more suitable for her swing speed; in the Srixon line, only the Q Star and Z Star have the Spin Skin Technology) and asked her if I could give her a sleeve. She gratefully accepted. Fast forward one day and she runs up to me with a gift( hat and shirt) from the pro shop. She gleefully tells me, "Thank you so much. Those balls saved my round."

    I am 9 handicap and just started using the xv this year was a provix user before. I haven't really noticed any difference in performance only difference I can truly say I have noticed is the price, in Canada the srixon's are $15 cheaper per dozen. Great ball highly recommend them.

    I've been doing tons of golf ball testing recently. Religiously played the Pro V1 but decided I'd see if it's still the best for me. Decided to play the TM TP5 after testing. Loved the Bridgestone as well I actually was hitting it 5 yards consistently past the others off the tee but the feel putting and chipping with the TP5 was better. The Pro V1 still hits every marker and has incredible feel and consistency, and I know how it reacts but I'm gonna give the TP5 a good go for sure. Love these reviews, even watching two years later is entertaining!!

    • @jeffsmith825

      Chrome Soft was by far my least favorite by the way. Didn't work for me at all in any aspect. I actually wonder whether the tour pros are actually playing Chrome Soft it was that poor for my game and I'm a +1 HC with 118mph driver speed.

  • @JamesBille-hu4cq

    Playing Q Stars right now- absolutely love them! Awesome distance off the tee on good contact and sticks greens on approach shots and chips. I’m using the Divide yellow/orange so my putting benefits as well..

    I used to play the Pro V but now I play Srixon, and what ive noticed is that the Srixon seems to stay cleaner and whiter throughout the round. I've had great performance and some of the best wedge spin with the srixon as well.

    • @LManPwner
      @LManPwner 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Job Mayer odd thing to notice, but I 100% agree with you. It's easily the nicest feeling ball I've played as well!

    Srixon Z-STAR golf balls are the real deal. I've tried the Titleist Pro V1/V1X and AVX; Taylormade TP5, Callaway Chomesoft (2016 and 2018 version), Snell MTB, Wilson Duo Spin, and the Srixon Z-STAR over the past two years. The best all-round ball for both performance and price has been the Z-STAR. Srixon have created a really good product here.

    I play the XV and I love it. Very nice feel off the club face. I also love that they are around 15$ less per dozen than ProV1. Lastly, nobody plays these it seems like. Makes finding your ball much easier! Haha

  • @davidgeorge5344
    @davidgeorge5344 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Interesting that you feel that you got more spin with the Z Star. I have just started playing the xv, having played both the z star and soft feel for some years, and today had my first three wedge shots screw back between 6 and 15 feet. Greens were softer than they have been recently but not puddings. Got good spin out of sand and around the green. Sucked an 8 iron back as well. Good flight and carry with driver and long irons. Very impressed. I hear the click as well but it doesn't bother me.

  • @serenityinsilence
    @serenityinsilence 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’ve tried pretty much the whole lineup from Srixon. I’ve tried the marathon, soft feel, q star tour, z star, and z star xv. Only one I haven’t tried it the regular q star. For me, the z star is my favorite. I regularly find them on sale for $25- $30. If they aren’t on sale, my backup is the Q star tour. The marathon and soft feel balls are cheap and feel exactly that. Marathon feels like a rock, is loud and clicky, and no spin around the green. The soft feel doesn’t quite have the spin I’m looking for, it’s not very long off the tee, and it isn’t super soft like the name would suggest. Q star tour is just a touch under the Z star in spin and feel. Overall it’s a good ball that doesn’t break the bank. Z star xv is just a harder z star with slightly higher ball flight.

  • @jaychung6622
    @jaychung6622 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thx for another great review Rick. Glad you found the Z star as appealing as I do. Based on price, feel & performance (put performance last since pretty much every ball I've tried performs the same), the Z star has been my favorite ball for a long while now.

    Hey Rick off subject but what's the chances of you reviewing the Srixon Irons 565-965 and the Srixon Drivers?
    Mygolfspy has the Z565 Irons and Driver as their most wanted this year. I enjoy the videos!

  • @mikeb1149
    @mikeb1149 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was using the Q-Star last year and was breaking 90 regularly. Moved 'up' to the Z-Star XV this year and felt they were more 'brittle' feeling. The Q-Stars were in the 80 compression range and the XV's are 105, and as such a much harder ball to compress.

    • @gcoffey223
      @gcoffey223 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My swing is about 95 mph with a driver. I like the xv's better because they seem to go straighter, further, and stop just fine.

    I've been playing the Z Star for a few years now. It's more durable then a Pro V. It spins great, and you can find them for $30 dollars a dozen if you buy two dozen at a time. The $15 dollars that I save a dozen makes them better for me than a Pro V.

      I've felt that getting brand new golf balls is kinda a waste considering that you can get mint ones on various different websites for 1/3 of the price. Look around and you can get Z-Stars for 18-20 a doz. (not going to name sites, not a sellout lol)

    Hi Rick, please test the Srixon soft feel. I keep hitting the expensive balls into the water or rough then pull out the cheapo soft feel and play out of my skin. I really like them, they go as far with the driver and hold the greens and as the name would suggest they feel soft chipping and putting. Great all around ball. (I play off a 6.8)

    Srixon is a quality ball I have been playing the Q-Star for about 2 seasons as the premium ball is a little beyond me for price point and skill level at this point but agree they have a soft feeling ball and good spin even on the not so premium product like the Q-Star.

    Ive been playing the z star all the way back to the original X. I love the xv, it has that harder click to it and I can spin it so well around the greens. I still like the 4th Gen ball the best but the new ball is pretty solid in the wind. This and the tp5 have been very durable and will continue to stay in the bag.

    Rick, LOVE the channel.
    Question: I have played the Chrome Soft for a couple years and really like the feel. My concern is that when you posted your test of the Callaway balls, the Chrome Soft had a slower ball speed off the driver than almost every other premium ball you have tested. What do you make of that?
    p.s. Thanks for doing this review on the Z-star XV. I used it a couple years ago for a summer and liked everything about it but not so much the feel around the green - was a little firm. Headed out to pick up a dozen of the regular Z stars.

      I've got a mix set of 565s (4/5) and 765s (6-W) and I love them. IMO, look as good as, and feel better than the Mizuno JPX 900s that I tried as well. Amazing feel off the face, head isn't toooo small but still looks nice behind the ball. You should definitely give them a look if you're in the market for a new set. One bonus of going with Srixon is they'll give you whatever shaft/grip you want/need (within reason) for free. Got mine with stiff nippon modus 3 shafts and multi compound golf pride grips for nothing extra.

    What’s up Senor Rick Shiels!!! I know you did a golf ball review on the Srixon Q-Star Divide but do you think you can do a review on the Srixon Z-Star Divides??? Also very curious about the MAXFLI TOUR and TOUR X golf balls….well hopefully you get a chance to read this comment and review one or both of those balls thanks sir and have a great day!😎👍🏽

    Hey Rick I really enjoyed this. I have also seen a few other urethane balls to compete with premium balls like the z star and pro v and at a great price. The sirxon q star tour and the maxfli ufli which are only $30 here in the states. I have a swing speed around 110mph. Can be higher or lower depending on the day lol. Now I don’t like paying more than $30 for a set of balls and these fall in line for those. Is a test on these balls possible? I normally shoot an 80-90. A mid handicap and play taylormade MC tour preferred irons. About 7 years old now. My weak game is inside 90 yards. When I’m not taking a full swing I tend to chunk, shank, or blade. If it’s a full shot I can stick it.

    Yo Ricardo- any chance you could test a ball which is a round or 2 old against a new one? Much measurable difference??

    I would love to see you test some older balls to compare how the technology has changed. Some old slazanger or hot dots or similar.

    Is it just the camera angle or is the cover of the XV thicker?
