As long as you have sensors in the area propane is very safe heck our new stove just bought it at costco is a propane stove and its not vented. Can i use my stove to help heat my house in an emergence sure i can whats the difference with 3 pots boiling gravy and a turkey in the oven for 5 hrs .
The cost of propane far outweighs not being able to work on cars and things because of freezing temps. Along with that I can usually get 4-5, 8 hour runs on a single 20lb tank.
Hello! I got me one. It works like a champ heating my uninsulated and poorly sealed one car garage! I do have a question perhaps you could help answer. The manual shows the five heating elements, and their on or off state based on the temp dial setting. It appears that no matter the dial setting I choose on mine, it seems that all five elements are illuminated, from setting one to setting five. Does yours behave the same way? Thanks again!
That is indeed how mine functions. The way it’s supposed to work is the heater is always on 100% heat, the dial works as a thermostat much like a house furnace. Each setting has its respective temperature and the unit will cut heating on and off to maintain temp. I can’t tell you what each number means temp wise, I usually just run it on max because it’s very cold where I live.
@@misplacedgarage Thanks! I too live in a cold climate, my “hardiness zone” is zone 3b. It’s pretty humid here too and I noticed after my garage cooled down I got quite a bit of ice forming on the inside of my windows. I’m going to run a dehumidifier along side the heater… Anyhow, I’m really pleased with this heater and had I not found reviews such as yours, I would have gone with the ceiling mounted forced air garage heater. Which is more work to install and is only 80% efficient, not to mention, permanently mounted.
Right on! Glad I could help. I recommend if you do intend on keeping the heater for many years I like to replace the hose each year to ensure of no leaks unless you hard-lined yours. Cheers to working in the garage even when winter hits!
@@misplacedgarage I’m looking to wall mount mine as well, but keep the feet on so I can still use it around if needed. I haven’t hard lined it, and hoses aren’t too expensive, so I’ll heed your advice. I actually put an oscillating fan behind mine after the first day of using it and that’s definitely the ticket.
You do not want your tank inside. Even in deer blinds and ice fishing shelters if a leak developed in the line you could have a serious situation if a fire started and the tank was inside.
It still works fantastic a year later! I’ve since mounted it on the wall and put an oscillating fan above it and it’ll heat my garage from 20 degrees to 60 almost instantly!
@@adamsmith2616 I can tell you this much, one pound of propane has 21,548 BTUs. That heater on full blast is rated at 30,000 BTUs per hour. So 30,000 per hour /21,548 BTUs per lb = 1.39 lbs of lp per hour at full blast. Or flip it and you’ll get 0.718 hours (43 minutes) per lb of lp.
Well we’ve had totally different experiences. Mine still works fantastic! Have had absolutely 0 issues with it and this is the second year with sub 0 temperatures.

cool video dude .. thank you.
Of course! Glad you enjoyed.
Place your detector closer to the floor
A fan is an option with the heater.
From all the reviews I had read said the fan was lacking power. I just use a box fan behind the heater to distribute the air
No comment on how long that 20 lb propane tank lasts - costing some extra $$ right there 😊

Do you have any suggestions?
What's the run time on a 20 lbs. tank and at what setting?

I’ve also since this video mounted it on the wall and added an oscillating fan above to move the hot air around, it helped out tremendously.

Why is the propane tank outside?
At the time is was just to reduce the possibility of a leak. More connections outside the better. Now it’s inside.

How’s that heater holding up? I’m looking at getting one for my garage which is a one car uninsulated space.

@@misplacedgarage very nice! Thanks for the reply and for taking the time to make and post the vid!
