    A great song. There is a live performance of this where Freddie uses that delay to perform the vocal canon, I don't remember which but probably someone from the comments knows. Most of that vocal canon in the song is just Freddie, harmonizing with himself, sort of like singing a round, and it required a lot of disciplined vocals to sound that good. Brian uses the delay in live performances frquently as well (for the guitar).

    Great reaction! This is a great song, it is really Brian May's epic that he wrote while he was sick, he wrote the song because of a dream he had. Brian May was stuck in hospital for a while while the rest of the band recorded the Sheer Heart Attack album. Queen were very progressive in their early and later years. The acoustic opening of the song also features a toy Kota. Two other epics to check out is My Fairy King and The Millionaire Waltz from Freddie Mercury. Another great Brian May song is, It's Late.

    2 tracks that are essential for Queen Novices:
    1A: Tenement Funster/Flick of the Wrist/Lilly of the Valley.
    1B: Dragon Attack (studio version)

    Good reaction. I can only indicate that the first verse is sung by Brian. Several songs have been suggested to you in the comments, but apparently some good songs haven't been mentioned yet. Here some of them:
    Doing All Right
    Death On Two Legs
    The Fairy's Feller Master-Stroke/Nevermore
    Princes Of The Universe
    Was It All Worth It
    Mother Love.
    Congratulations for the channel of reactios.
    Regards.

    So glad you got round to reacting to this trippy track. The abrupt ending was due to it going straight into "Love Of My Life"

    Try BRIGHTON ROCK. First track from their third album Sheer Heart Attack. It’s got Brian’s signature guitar solo with delay effects, same as Freddie uses here. Brian is obsessed with delay effects.

    My favourite Queen track ( followed closely by everything else 😁) , the cut off at the end is due to the fact that the song blends into Love of my life ..
    If you haven't reacted to them yet try Dead on time, It's late, Ogre battle or Stone cold crazy ( live version ), which is generally regarded as the birth song of speed metal 👌

    Yes, 3 part harmonies are definitely there. They started from the "lalala" part.

    • @apocketfulofheep
      @apocketfulofheep  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wasn't sure if it was or just a bunch of overdubs

    • @MsAyu15
      @MsAyu15 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@apocketfulofheep There is a documentary how this song was made. They did a lot of solo vocal delays and 3 part harmony delays. I think there are still overdubs happening but it’s still the 3 members singing the harmonies here. You can listen and compare harmonies from “Somebody to Love” (3 part harmony overdubs) to “You Take My Breath Away” (solo vocal overdubs) to know the difference.
      I edited this because I was confused on the word usage of delays and overlays. 😅😂

    What is amazing to me about Queen is that while I love their hits, my favorite songs off each album are NOT the singles that were released. Can't say that about any other band. White Man from the Day At The Races. The lyric video is best because the lyrics are intense.

    Wonderful piece of music. I'm sure that Freddie learned a lot from David Byron's vocal layering as well.

    This was one of my favorites by them. Another similarly titled song, and one of profound beauty is by the Native American treasure Joanne Shenandoah, who sadly died a few weeks ago. It is called "Prophesy Song". I have memorized some of her beautiful songs from Orenda, namely "Life Giver", "In Love" and "Unity". All most life-affirming.
    Here goes a playlist of her top songs. th-cam.com/play/OLAK5uy_mkffjgq49SfCAu4BPBkdt9Gtt-IpuCrSE.html
