- “This is a tribute to my dad, Jani Lane, from the band Warrant. This song was a classic and I decided to sing a cover for it. The final version will be uploaded sometime after Christmas, which will sound a little more professional, but here is what a friend and I did in a recording studio in one day (I may also be changing some of the lyrics to make it for a female).”

Jani's passing left an empty space in our hearts and in the lives of us who were lucky to know him. We are grateful he left a part of himself behind in his music. I cried from the second you started til 5 minutes after yoi finished. I was 15 in high school when Warrant came out with this song and loved it and all there albums Jani was a special talent writing music and singing it. He would be so proud of you girl. Awesome job.

I got to meet your dad twice in Fla. at his venue Jani Lames Sunset Strip and he was one of the most kind, sweetest, laid back guys and more talent than he got credit for with a heart of gold, he was unlike anyone I've ever meet. Chills!! This is absolutely beautiful. I LOVED Warrant. I was fortunate enough at the age of 30 to see his performance in Minnesota before he passed. I was in shock. Even after 8 years, I'm still in shock. RIP Jani!!!!

Your dad was such a massive part of my childhood. I was born in ‘79. I was 8 when DRFSR came out. 10 or 11 when Cherry Pie came out. I bought Dog Eat Dog, Ultraphonic, and Belly To Belly the day they were released. Jani was a modern day Mozart. He was so incredibly talented. I have always hated Nirvana because I blame them for ending Warrant’s popularity. Jani was a musical genius. When the manager ask for a catchy hit, he wrote one. On queue. When the manager wanted a more grungy sound he wrote that. I miss Jani. He was so important to my childhood. Such a gifted musician. Losing his talent is a tragedy for the world.

Very impressive! I was a kid when this song was in it's heyday; probably 4th or 5th grade. I remember a couple sisters I was friends with, going over to their place and their room was plastered with cutout poster of Warrant from the rock and heavy metal magazines which were how we connected with our favorite bands back in those days, lol. I am pretty sure my old drum teacher's band, AirKraft did some tour dates with your Dad's band back in the early 90s.
This song is a real gem from the period in rock; I once had it stuck in my head for a couple months.
Now I am listening to your version and it kind of becoming more clear to me why this song has the staying power in the people who hear it. The real genius is the chord voicing. It is really cool how powerful it still is in the arrangement you have put together here. Traditionally, this is considered a "power ballad" and you have managed to deliver it in a way where it still has the power but also has kind of a subdued feeling as well. I don't think I hear a single crash cymbal on the drums and that is kinda genius in its own way and really helps with the change of feel away from the power ballad version that made it famous.
So, I don't know if you read the comments or what you can take from my feedback but I think you did a great job for a day in the studio.

Absolutely incredible Madison, you did your dad proud young lady. I grew up listening to him and Warrant and this song always reminded me of my first love that I had a picture of " standing in front of her house"
The words to this one had a profound impact on me from the moment I first heard them. I was a senior in high school and I had just moved to L. A. From Colorado and saw warrant open for Keel in Pasadena at some little theatre that is now Condo’s. After delivering a blistering set of original songs Jani and the Gang proceeded to crank this one out and I was completely blown away!
