That might be one of the smoothest landings I've ever seen. Wow! Sorry the airline is no more.
Because it was so light weight. Fuel will be less than 15% and passenger weight are almost zero. This aircraft reach JFK almost like feather weight.
5:51 If you can not fill a flight (at least half full) between Itlay and NYC, something is wrong.
Well...you have to keep in mind that Emirates also flies from Milan to New York using their A380. In addition to American Airlines. So MXP-JFK is a very competitive market...
And Alitalia as well, daily
Delta also flight from MXP-JFK, I flew that route with them last June on the A330!
Poor service from Alitalia and lack of customer attention , unlike what you get out of the middle eastern carriers had already driven Italians to try and fly with the competition. If they are happy with the competition, why would they even think of going back to an Italian Carrier?

I’ve never seen a flight so empty! It’s very sad, despite having all that room
25 years ago I flew CVG/Cincinnati, Ohio to MCO/Orlando, Florida on Delta Airlines as 1 of 3 passengers on the entire aircraft (Boeing 737 maybe?). There were more flight attendants than passengers. I don't think I will ever see that again on a U.S. domestic flight.

I flew with Air Italy from Milan to San Francisco and back last year (April 18th - May 1st, EI-GGO for both flights). The services on board were pretty good, the crew was friendly and helpful and (last but not least) it was the only company to offer a direct flight from Milan to California, with reasonable fares. I’m so sad for what happened, I would have flown with them again for sure

2:10 I've never seen an airline where the seats lined up with the windows. Wish they would have grown larger.

With many competitive routes and they had few for example Milan-New York that Emirates also have from the same airport Milan Malpensa.
Italian is such a beautiful language! So mellow, so sweet, so elegant, so musical! I always love to hear it!

I can't speak or write in Italian, or at least not much more than "buongiorno", but I can *understand* a lot of it, because I'm Brazilian, so my native language is Portuguese, which comes from Latin as well and many words are similar. The pronunciation is close, too, and I live in São Paulo, a city with more people with Italian ancestry than Milan! (That's true: Milan proper, not counting the metropolitan area, has about 1.5 million people, while São Paulo has an estimated 3 million people with at least some Italian ancestry, out of a total population of 12 million.)
Italian immigration was so intense and important in São Paulo that the local accent of Portuguese has a strong and very noticeable Italian influence in intonation, pronunciation and even syntax, and many Italian loanwords, too. I'm not originally from here and don't have Italian ancestry myself, but I've been living here for many years, so I'm used to listening to a bit of broken Italian every day... But the original language is still much better! 😊

Lovely day for flying out of Milan Felix...great views !!! So many empty seats...sadly a sign of things to come apparently !! Fantastic landing vision as well. It so sad to see an airline go to the wall like this and you feel for the pilots and cabin crew as they have to find new jobs in a tough airline market.Flight looked great and I am glad the food and service were pretty good !! Well done mate as always !!
The half folding tray tables seems really convenient. I fly Air Transat between Canada and UK on their Airbus A330-300s and they don't have that feature nor the IFE remote controllers.
Italy just seems like a bad place to do business as of late. Alitalia would've been gone if it wasn't for all the gov't backing.

We were in Milan’s airport with a connecting flight from Munich to San Francisco we flew air dolomiti there landing are really hard and I loved air Italy it was a really cool airline

I’m Italian and i Flight with Them the last August to go to Los Angeles and it was a very good airline: Good food, good Seat and good enterneiment... i am very Sad for its fail !!

Looks like a great airline, especially for economy, was it comparable to KLM/British Airways in terms of pricing?
Always sad to see a company go down, a lot of people will have lost their jobs. The airline market is very competitive as people tend to choose for cheap flights with bad service (RyanAir, EasyJet) over decent carriers like this. Flying used to be seen as an experience part of the vacation, now people see it as sitting in a bus until they arrive :(
I wonder how the aviation industry will cope with the growing concerns about the environment, they have to adapt somehow to survive. Whether you like it or not; it can't go on like this with the emissions of planes and the free-from-tax fuel. Especially continental flights.

I was pretty sad watchig this video. Even tough my mum works for Alitalia, I feel this bankrupcy really near to me. I'm from Milan and now, with coronavirus, Air Italy's bankrupcy, Alitalia's constant state of weakness.... mg. But please, I speak to you, non Italian person, Italy is not dangerous. With this globalization, it was sure that covid would have spread like this, and Italy is declaring every single case and checking everyone near to a positive patient. Italy is doing and has been doing more then what oms has requested. While other states.... they just close the borders with those countries with the most number of cases, not thinking that covid will get to the selected country anyway.... For ex. US citizens have to pay to check if they are positive, so no one is checked. Italy's checked more than 20,000 people! Don't keep us alone... we were already a weak nation... now there are covid's economic cnsequences plus long term damages that are also concerning prejudices. thank you very much for your attention. and sorry if it was a little off-theme. if you have samething to say, I'm here to speak with out tihout argueing.
Airplane What we don’t have to pay to get checked for COVID19 buddy. We do however have a shortage of test kits. No one blames the people of Italy or any other country for that matter. All love for everyone all over the world.

11:07 - Can I just say, as a former flight attendant of 4 years, NEVER EVER put the surface of your food directly on the tray table if you have any intention of eating it. It goes without saying those tray tables are NOT clean!
I clean the seat, traytable etc with disinfectant wipes before a flight 😉

No it isn’t with a EI reg it’s a old Irish A330
Kai Preshaw no it’s an Ex Qatar A330, they were somewhat owned by them is my understanding. The EI reg is just because it’s cheaper. Quite common with Italian airlines.
Kai Preshaw they were lo from QR, they were meant to get the B787 yeah but the delays on the -9 meant they couldn’t

Yep, the pilot really greased that landing. I wish I’d have flown Air Italy instead of Alitalia to Rome from New York recently. The meal on that flight was a disaster and the flight attendants pretty much disappeared.
