This song is so damned perfect. For Shattered Memories, it's a game that deals with the struggles of a woman finding our that all the things we knew on SH1 never happened, and that they were just delusions made up by a dying mind and a child interpreting said death. Shattered memories is the alternate universe of the bad ending in Silent Hill 1, and knowing that, the song is so damned chilling.
Shattered Memories hits really hard for me personally, since I can ,at least partially relate to the situation. Maybe besides death. But I can see many similarities when you love your family, but begin to see all that s**t that was happening at the time and you had no idea or just seen it as normal.

Downpour wasn't good either, but - like Shattered Memories - it had no good ending and catched a bit of the atmosphere. Homecomings worst part is the free Alienending, but it worked with the Otherworld, hat some very catchy Moments and a Silent Hill atmosphere, although it was less of a pure horror and more of a psycho-survival. The Room - where shall I start? Cheapt jumps scares, that aren't even funny. An all blurry Otherworld without a REAL atmosphere and the worst? It wasted its potential - the beginning was good, the first trip with the first future Victim (forgot her Name
SM is not a continuation of the bad ending of SH1. It's a new interpretation of SH1. In this universe there isn't a Dahlia Gillespie, there isn't and wasn't even a Alessa, there's just a teenage Cheryl and her state of mind.
I always saw it that Alessa and Cheryl were merged into one as she sees Harry and Dalia and that Cheryl saw herself as their child opposed to her own mother’s. So she kinda was Alessa Idk just some food for thought

I don't understand why because this wasn't meant as a bash the monsters, extremely deep and tragic plot and all like the other games were. this was meant as a psychological game, where a trama patient cannot let go of the past no matter what they do. How is the bad ending considered canon? In the bad ending Harry does not receive reincarnated baby Alessa. Thus, SH3 would not have happened, but it did.

I still can remember in 2013 dad came home and bought me 2 CDs one was Devil May Cry 1 and The other Was Silent Hill shattered Memories We Played this game with my dad while my sister was watching but I wasn't able to complete the game because my English wasn't good I was stucked in the Computer Room when Mechille Helps Harry to find his daughter by searching on the computer , but many years later in 2019 I downloaded this game on mobile played with PSP Emulator and completed I Can't Forget this game This Game Gave me family feeling 😭 I enjoyed playing the game , I smiled hearing *I LOVE MY DADDY* ,and I cried watching the end. Even this is 2020 I'm still searching for this games songs and behind senses. This game as a silent hill game whether its good or not is debatable. But as A game, it was fantastic in my eyes (frame rate issues on the ps2 version aside), i cannot denie how much i enjoyed this game as both a silent hill fan and a horror fan inn general
Stigma well my problem as a silent hill game is the story, and i know that its a re-imagining but it still like i find a reimagining should hit similar story beats but do it in a new way and shattered memories doesnt seem to do so, and that being said it does kinda delete the stories of 2-4 kinda

Silent hill series is always about a hidden memory, trauma and neurosis. Most characters in the series had traumas and/or hidden memories full of pain and sadness(excluding Henry of sh:the room and Harry of the first game. Although Henry also suffered from childhood traumas, the game was about Walter Sullivan. Henry and Walter were dark reflections of each other. Harry Mason found himself right in the core of Alessa's traumas.) This song tells about this hidden memory/trauma still staying veiled even after the intervention to get it out to consciousness. Although it is fun to listen to the song, it is about the tragedy of the trauma remaining unresolved. It is no coincidence that the name of the song playing when Cybill faces the pain of the fact that his father's demise is "acceptance". Frozen hell in the alternate world of the game symbolizes the trauma "frozen" in the desperate attempt of pushing it deeper into subconscious. We can say that the town practices a really harsh method of therapy on its 'clients', trying to bring their trauma and pain right before the very eyes of them. This series repeatedly gives invaluable lessons about trauma. You should face/stop running away from the emotions which are pain, horror, grief, anger, sadness and sorrow that the trauma forms, and stop running from the very trauma itself and embrace it, which means accepting it while seperating trauma and pain from the meaning of the life and your existance. You should also comfort and soothe yourself and show yourself compassion. Remember James Sunderland when he kept the love for his wife above all else during his journey towards his trauma/hidden memory, and when he took good care of himself(symbolized with keeping his health up) , he got the good ending. He walked out of the town embracing and overcoming the trauma. When he didn't give himself compassion, he got the bad ending. Just like Angela Orosco did. Eddie didn't embrace the pain and got the bad ending(murdered by James). It is always possible to get the good ending. There is always hope. All the time.

Silent Hills was never going to happen. Giving Kojima the keys to the SH franchise would be like giving Joker the nuclear launch codes: awesome, but irresponsible and apocalyptic.
That and the fact that it has one of the most hauntingly powerful stories of any game, a solid atmosphere, and the music to make both of those things work.
At 3:34 it's actually from silent hill 2. There's a hint of this tune in silent hill 1 but that pattern in general that's used through out most of the series major songs actually formally came from silent hill 2 which is deemed to be the best silent hill.
It's so delightful to hear Yamaoka's-McGlynn's talent reflecting the same feelings I got while playing the game... Since I entered in Silent Hill (and I keep returning!) I shall not fear to confront my darkest feelings... Should have listened to this lyrics before XD
You know what I just realized ? This whole dream he had in the bad ending is a combination of death drawing ever closer to him, his perspective of his marriage with Dhalia, maybe memories mixed up with wishes related to an unborn biological child of theirs (Alessa), memories of the abuse and bullying he might have suffered when he was at school and how the paradise promised to him by both his marriage and Cheryl's adoption ended up being a continuation of his Hell. If my theory is correct, then that other theory saying that all of the tapes at the endings of "Shattered Memories" are canon is true too, because this dream Harry had is to represent his perspective of his own life up until now.

Silent hill series is always about a hidden memory, trauma and neurosis. Most characters in the series had traumas and/or hidden memories full of pain and sadness(excluding Henry of sh:the room and Harry of the first game. Although Henry also suffered from childhood traumas, the game was about Walter Sullivan. Henry and Walter were dark reflections of each other. Harry Mason found himself right in the core of Alessa's traumas.)
This song tells about this hidden memory/trauma still staying veiled even after the intervention to get it out to consciousness. Although it is fun to listen to the song, it is about the tragedy of the trauma remaining unresolved. It is no coincidence that the name of the song playing when Cybill faces the pain of the fact that his father's demise is "acceptance".
Frozen hell in the alternate world of the game symbolizes the trauma "frozen" in the desperate attempt of pushing it deeper into subconscious. We can say that the town practices a really harsh method of therapy on its 'clients', trying to bring their trauma and pain right before the very eyes of them.
This series repeatedly gives invaluable lessons about trauma. You should face/stop running away from the emotions which are pain, horror, grief, anger, sadness and sorrow that the trauma forms, and stop running from the very trauma itself and embrace it, which means accepting it while seperating trauma and pain from the meaning of the life and your existance.
You should also comfort and soothe yourself and show yourself compassion. Remember James Sunderland when he kept the love for his wife above all else during his journey towards his trauma/hidden memory, and when he took good care of himself(symbolized with keeping his health up) , he got the good ending. He walked out of the town embracing and overcoming the trauma. When he didn't give himself compassion, he got the bad ending. Just like Angela Orosco did. Eddie didn't embrace the pain and got the bad ending(murdered by James).
It is always possible to get the good ending. There is always hope. All the time.

At 3:34 it's actually from silent hill 2. There's a hint of this tune in silent hill 1 but that pattern in general that's used through out most of the series major songs actually formally came from silent hill 2 which is deemed to be the best silent hill.
This is the official theme tune for Silent Hill. You will find it present in every single game soundtrack if you listen closely enough

You know what I just realized ? This whole dream he had in the bad ending is a combination of death drawing ever closer to him, his perspective of his marriage with Dhalia, maybe memories mixed up with wishes related to an unborn biological child of theirs (Alessa), memories of the abuse and bullying he might have suffered when he was at school and how the paradise promised to him by both his marriage and Cheryl's adoption ended up being a continuation of his Hell. If my theory is correct, then that other theory saying that all of the tapes at the endings of "Shattered Memories" are canon is true too, because this dream Harry had is to represent his perspective of his own life up until now.
