$100 for an adult? That's actually cheap. We source our materials directly from Indonesia, and young 4-month old cemanis can go from $250 and up, with each bird becoming more expensive the more they mature. Regarding temperament, I find them calm, gentle, and friendly. They aren't flighty or skittish at all. Having said that, it would be wise to always make sure that you bond with them through handling and other forms of physical contact to ensure they maintain a docile disposition.
@@luciantheprotean I found that too Chicks that bond with people more tend to be more friendly We get many mixed breeds here too You get told one thing but without papers you never really know I've seen prices higher too I just keep an eye out for deals I really enjoy raising chicks
@@mikethecaveman90 Hatchery chicks tend to be of a lower quality compared to chicks sources from serious fanciers and/or breeders who breed solely for show. And yes, raising and hand-feeding chicks get them imprinted on you, making them think you're their mum. As good as that may sound, it's still important for the chicks to interact with other chickens to help hone their natural instincts.
@@luciantheprotean I agree We hatched one chick the rest of the eggs were no good That chick was in our hand lots She still comes running to us :) But we had to get her friends 3 days in no other eggs hatched and it's tuff when they don't have any chick friends But she's so friendly The others were not But they are flightly birds Isbar cross of some sort They were the only chicks around the same age 1 out of 5 is a hen The hen is starting to warm up to me even though I've tried long time she's still flighty
@@luciantheprotean I agree people who collect or hatch eggs from good breeders end up looking and being healthier birds then Hatcher's I look in my local adds Then you get to know people around better
In bahasa indonesia black means hitam, but bahasa Indonesia are heavily influenced by proto malay language. In javanese that are more influenced by sanskrit, black means cemeng, where the word cemani comes from

Nice video I have some standard cemani and these poor guys in your video look malnourished and stressed 😥 poor things (I know it’s gathered and they are not yours just they look awful
Thanks for watching! I have discussed this on Ayam Cemani Facebook groups as well, but it would be prudent to state this on TH-cam as well: 1. The shiny Ayam Cemani you can find in the US and most of Europe does not necessarily conform to Indonesian breed standards. The real Cemani features were bred out of them to achieve a shiny, more palatable look for the Western world. 2. It's rather common for a great majority of American poultry fanciers to subjectively consider true cemanis from Indonesia ugly and sickly, due to being too used to breed standards that were developed for European and American breeds. 3. True Indonesian cemanis really look like that. What they look like would depend on their feathertype. I failed to add another feathertype called Gundul Cemani... yes, I can assume you'll think they are ugly because they don't have any feathers. "Gundul" translates directly in English as "bare." 4. Indonesians pride themselves in producing top-tier fibromelanosis in their cemani, and even breed for show/exhibition. I assure you that the footage and images I used were mostly the best of what the breeders can offer. I can also assure you that they are given the best quality feed and care. 5. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Beauty is subjective. You can and always will have the option to settle for European/American cemanis if you prefer smooth and shiny feathers. You have to understand though that the other way around, Indonesians consider cemani from America and Europe as badly bred due to poor stances, colour leakages, and overall worse fibromelanosis than what is considered acceptable (in Indonesia). In the end, your happiness is what's important. Care for the kind of birds/chickens you like. All I'm happy about is that I was able to enlighten you on what and how the breed truly is in its country of origin. By the way, I already sold my island-born bottlebrush (bulu acak) cemani breeders, and have Indonesian imports coming up. I'll make sure to upload English-only videos about the cemani so that a wider audience has access to information about the breed. Hello there, boys and girls. Just a refresher on the different Ayam Cemani Feather Types:
Standard - Smooth Feather
This feather type is also called the following in its native Indonesia:
Bulu Biasa - Ordinary fur
Bulu Yang Rapi - Neat fur
Bulu Tertata - Arranged fur
This feather type is the most common and most popular feather type outside of Indonesia.
The Standard feather type is actively bred in Indonesia and selectively bred for extreme melanin production. Indonesian breeders are known to take pride in the quality of their Ayam Cemani, and only raise LIDAH HITAM (black tongue). LIDAH ABU-ABU (grey tongue) is also available for sale, but don't command as high a price as LIDAH HITAM.
Birds found in America can trace their ancestry from European birds and are prone to show weaker fibromelanosis than Indonesian-sourced birds. Regardless, fibromelanosis is not dictated by location or feather type, but by proper and selective breeding practice.
Bottlebrush - Wild Feather
This feather type is also called the following in its native Indonesia:
Bulu Acak - Random feathers
Bulu Tidak Rapi - Not neat fur
This feather type's main characteristic is a wild, unkempt, and wiry feathering. The feathers don't radiate a shine like the standard feathering and are mostly matte.
The bottlebrush Ayam Cemani is the 2nd most common Ayam Cemani in the Philippines, next to the standard. For the longest time, local fanciers have labelled the standard as "U.K.," and the bottlebrush as "Indo." Walik - Frizzle

Bulu Terbalik - Inverted fur, fur upside down
The Walik Cemani is quite literally just an Ayam Cemani with the frizzle gene. Frizzling is a genetic trait that causes feathers to curl outward and upward, moving away from the body, instead of lying flat against them as they would in a typical bird.
They are beautiful birds but are not advised to be bred to one another. Most breeders breed normal-feathered birds to frizzles, which result in a mixture of chicks. Breeding frizzle to frizzle results in frazzles - birds with excessively brittle feathers, breaking at the slightest touch. Frazzles usually develop patchy feathering and can even become bald.
Iron Feather/Needle Feather
This feather type is also called the following in its native Indonesia:
Bulu Lidi - Stick fur
Bulu Rajek/Bulu Rajutan - Knitted fur
Ayam Cemani with this feather type takes longer to fully feather, and are mostly bald for the first year or more of their life.
When they do feather in, they grow feathers that look more like sticks that contour to their body, instead of the usually barbed feathers.

Regarding temperament, I find them calm, gentle, and friendly. They aren't flighty or skittish at all. Having said that, it would be wise to always make sure that you bond with them through handling and other forms of physical contact to ensure they maintain a docile disposition.
@@luciantheprotean I found that too
Chicks that bond with people more tend to be more friendly
We get many mixed breeds here too
You get told one thing but without papers you never really know
I've seen prices higher too
I just keep an eye out for deals
I really enjoy raising chicks
@@mikethecaveman90 Hatchery chicks tend to be of a lower quality compared to chicks sources from serious fanciers and/or breeders who breed solely for show.
And yes, raising and hand-feeding chicks get them imprinted on you, making them think you're their mum. As good as that may sound, it's still important for the chicks to interact with other chickens to help hone their natural instincts.
@@luciantheprotean I agree
We hatched one chick the rest of the eggs were no good
That chick was in our hand lots
She still comes running to us :)
But we had to get her friends 3 days in no other eggs hatched and it's tuff when they don't have any chick friends
But she's so friendly
The others were not
But they are flightly birds
Isbar cross of some sort
They were the only chicks around the same age
1 out of 5 is a hen
The hen is starting to warm up to me even though I've tried long time she's still flighty
@@luciantheprotean I agree people who collect or hatch eggs from good breeders end up looking and being healthier birds then Hatcher's
I look in my local adds
Then you get to know people around better
In bahasa indonesia black means hitam, but bahasa Indonesia are heavily influenced by proto malay language. In javanese that are more influenced by sanskrit, black means cemeng, where the word cemani comes from

Is the breed called “Kadaknath” found in India Ayam Cemani?
Thanks for watching!
The Kadaknath is also a fibromelanistic breed, but it's not the same as the Ayam Cemani. Much like the Svarthöna of Sweden, these three share the same melanistic traits, but are distinctly different breeds. Among the three, the Ayam Cemani has the most game-like stance.

Thanks for watching the video! I plan to make a video about that exact breed of chicken, also called Kali Masi - the fibromelansitic chicken of India.

Tell it's rate in indonesia
Totally dependent on the breeder, the quality of the birds, and where they're from. Trust me, there are so many factors to consider when importing cemanis. Been there, done that.

Nice video I have some standard cemani and these poor guys in your video look malnourished and stressed 😥 poor things (I know it’s gathered and they are not yours just they look awful
Thanks for watching! I have discussed this on Ayam Cemani Facebook groups as well, but it would be prudent to state this on TH-cam as well:
"Gundul" translates directly in English as "bare."
I'll make sure to upload English-only videos about the cemani so that a wider audience has access to information about the breed. it's actually "che-mah-nee" the "che" is like churn, with silent r and n.
HAHAHA! Yes, I'm quite aware of my error... in fact, someone has already made it a point to correct my pronunciation on a previous comment.
Rest assured, I'll be pronouncing cemani correctly in our future videos.

@@luciantheprotean can you import Malaysia?
You just want I sucribe your channel nothing else ?
@@umermaqsood9680 Yes. But I don't have any available at the moment. My breeders are still moulting their feathers, so breeding is postponed for the meantime.
I ask you can import Malaysia and Pakistan?
Good content, a bit pity that you mispronounced the word cemani. The C should not be pronounced like an S
I am well aware that Bahasa Indonesia is something I have no expetise in. How should it sound? Whenever I hear an Indonesian say "cemani," the first letter ends up sounding like a "ch" sound. Chemani? Tsemani? Kindly enlighten me.
