    Great video. I get the branch placement for the side branches (alternating), but can you perhaps explain how you handle back branches? how to choose and position them to fit the tree design?

    Really like the Blue Atlas Cedar - 8" Oval or a thin/shallow rectangle might work as well down the road (White or grey in color to work with the foliage).

    Got my first on of these, similar size however branches are nowhere near as elongated. Thank you for the vid, gave me a good idea of what's next for my cedar 😊

    Rectangle pot for me. It makes the tree look really sharp in its lines, making it look more impressive. Giving it a wow factor.

    I saw a huge Blue Atlas Cedar in my local nursery over here in the UK, I’ve finally managed to source a young tree in a 5 litre pot and started my you tube research. This has been by far the most informative video so far and it’s filled me with hope that in time I might have a tree that’s somewhere close to what you have achieved . Thanks for posting , I’ll definitely be subscribing !

    Rectangle all day! Great little tree. I have two I need to repot from nursery soil/containers but I’m nervous about how they respond to root pruning. I hope you record the repot. 🤙

    Atlas cedars are beautiful. The downside is most of them are straight up no movement. Glad to see you added some to this tree it makes it amazing 👏

    I like the 8" oval but I think that the 8" rectangle looks just slightly better. I would go for the rectangle pot. It just looks more grounded and less forced than the tiny oval pot (especially the six-inch oval) and gives more space for the tree to continue to develop.

    I like the oval pot. Question, did you just recently style this tree? Gauging time of year. Here in Southern Oregon they recommend late April when it has warmed up. I have 3 I have been growing for 5 years and will first style this year. We are zone 7b. I know they can be prone to needle drop if they get unhappy. I like to compare to see how trees do in other areas. Thank you so much as always for your videos and knowledge.

    Do the 8 inch oval. You need to decrease the root mass slowly over time. They do not respond well to root pruning so do as minimal as possible. Learned that by experiencing and killing a nice one that I root pruned too much to get it into the "perfect pot". Dark brown color really highlights the blue foliage.

    Hi Jason, you mentioned fertiliser for the cedar. Do you use slow release water soluble? I live in Australia and I've heard cedars don't like fertiliser as a rule. Interested in your opinions. Thank you

  • @noloenglish

    Hi Jason! I got one of your blue atlas cedars but I want to thicken the trunk. Do you recommend I repot it from a bonsai pot to a nursery pot. What soil would you recommend?

  • @angryzombie8088
    @angryzombie8088 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like the 8 inch oval. Maybe it looks too big for some people but I'd rather start with a bigger pot & maybe in the future goes for smaller or bigger pot depending on the design.
    The rectangle looks nice too if you are going for an aggressive, edgy look. But I prefer Balance, spiky on top, smooth curve at the bottom.
