For me the most fun divisions to play are those that only work when you employ combined arms. Old soviet tank divs are like that. Eugen kinda killed that focusing on space marines infantry and halftrack rushes. While I’m trying to setup arty, tanks, infantry and air for maneuver, my opponent is spamming and just “pressing W” with his infantry. Maybe the fallback change will help with that, but I doubt it.
@@redgaarden8101 soviet airplanes just weren't very good historically, there's not much you can do about it. I think they're still more viable in game than their real-life performance would suggest
The fallback damage change should make most tanks significantly better as infantry when they fall back should consistently lose at least 1 guy every HE shot that hits them. this should allow tanks and arty to really punch troops out of forests more reliably. for example your standard medium howitzers deal about 4 damage so if you hit a squad falling back instead of 1 guy dying its now 2 which will even allow mortars to shake forest troops out of the bushes quite reliably.
maybe eugen could add a demo version for SD2 thats free but doesnt have the campains, or maybe only one small, and only like 3 division for each side, one inf one mech and one tank
Tettau got B2s in A-phase even though they historically arrived with armor that comes later. Vulcan's point about giving an A-phase B2 to 716th is valid.
I like this style of playing/chatting. And I support the idea of a free base game and paying for the dlcs which are rather costly but reasonably priced. It would help a lot of my friends to try it out, too.
Atkpwr: "I am not a flavor kinda guy. The division just needs to be able to win." *moments later* Atkpwr: "Guards Armored is just all commonwealth divisions. It doesn't do anything interesting."
Flavour isn't necessarily the same as. "doing something different" For example, the new US 4th Armoured hasn't got much in the way of flavour units but does something different to 2nd Infantry & 3rd Armoured, despite having access to similar units. Guards armoured looks OK to me. Not amazing for 1v1 but decent. However, it does't look that different to several of the other existing Commonwealth divisions with Rifles, Shermans & Fireflys.
I'd like the fall back to be double distance with slower health recovery - a 10 second delay before health starts recovering. There needs to be the option of risking being pinned or penalised for falling back when in cover
Making the base game free at this point & making the money from DLC is a great idea. As you say, get people hooked & a great many will stick around. Regarding 716th. I'm not upset about the game having a layer of trash divisions (the ones that were historically trash) as there are occasions where you may want to play a new player & give yourself a handicap or just feel like a challenge. I just don't like seeing divisions that should be decent in the lowest tier.
@@tedarcher9120 yeah exactly. Historically these divisions were supposed to hold gaps in frontline or garrison towns to hold off until real proper force (like armored or heavier infantry div) would relieve them. Having them in their pure state sent to 1v1 an armor division would never happen IRL. So I think they should get mix-in of local stronger units, like 16. Luftwaffe got with sPzAbt King Tigers

Hi. Love your vids😊 One thing i need to mention! The game should be made as true to history in my appinion so the Brengun was a bad mg so was the french. If it s about player balance then we need to look at resources. Best regards from Denmark 😊
is the fallback damage change active in this match? I noticed a falling back infantry unit losing 3 guys to a Priest DD and that seems pretty good. also if you have any power to bend Eugen's ear a bit for suggestions in the long distant future I am genuinely begging for SD3 whenever it happens to be 1942/43 and have the invasion of eastern Europe by the Germans and the north African campaign. desert maps and snowy eastern steppe towns with all the tanks and planes that don't make much of an appearance in this one. I want to see the game balanced around a time period where the 37mm was the primary AT gun of the war and the long 50mm as well as long 75mm guns were relatively new. the time period would be right when the Tiger was becoming a legend to be feared before being rendered obsolete in 1944, the Sherman would be uncommon and actually difficult to kill. the M3 Lee/Grant would be numerous, the Panzer 3 would be the mainstay of the German panzer divisions. The KV-1 would be the heavy tank it had earned its reputation on and the T-34-76 would be tough to kill but slightly underpowered with its 76mm gun. The Matilda would actually still function as a heavy tank and the Valentine would actually be good as well as the Crusader actually being a light tank and not just AA. also seriously can the 37mm on stuarts and M8's get a buff in their rate of fire? it makes no sense that they fire so freaking slow compared to other similar guns like the 2 pounder which has about the same rate of fire in real life. it doesn't need to be 15 rounds per minute but 6/7 is ridiculously low, maybe like 8?
The fallback nerf is active it’s a very big difference. I promise I don’t really have that much influence and nobody is talking about an sd3 right now as much as I would like that too
I know SD3 is a long way away, but that's what I think we need now to advance. This game came out in 2019. That's a fairly old game at this point. I also agree that the base game should be free.
I still really badly want SD3 if it comes out to be 1942 or 1943. like really get the early invasion of Russia mixed in with the north African campaign. you would get mostly Panzer 3&4, way more KV-1 tanks and T-34-76, the Sherman would be rare compared to the M3 Lee and Grant. The British would be using early Churchill tanks along with Velentines and crusaders etc. the maps could be really varied too with desert maps as well as winter maps in eastern Europe.
@dominuslogik484 I could see them doing a 1945-based one. That'd unlock all the super heavy tanks. I think an early war game would be fun, but I'm unsure if they'll do it.
@@OneAndOnlyKJx going super late war would require them to make up a bunch of fantasy stuff though because at that point the German army was in shambles with almost no trucks, tanks or infantry available for any of their divisions. things like the Jagdtiger would be extremely rare for the most part because most of them never made it to the field. I think they would be better off just doing an early 1945 type expansion for the game as a final DLC for SD2. because honestly despite having some super heavy monsters that were built by then most of the divisions that used them would have been left with scraps of whatever else was left at that point making the divisions kinda awful with weird OP units showing up in the single digits.
I think it'd be a good way to market a game advertising all these monster tanks. I think they've kind of shot themselves in the foot, though, with all the western divisions. I'm not sure what they'll do next
Congrats on joining strike team! I hope you remember that axis shouldn't be winning every battle when you are dealing with balancing stuff. My first suggestion for ST to consider to buff the soviets is to make the studebakker 80km/h like the Opal blitz and the ZiS-5 truck to be 70km/h like the krupp (?) truck. I think that would be a blanket buff to soviets that is pretty non-offensive.
as above, speeds are from IRL stats, and allies already have advantage over axis with how quick they get to frontlines in jeeps. and when axis don't have access to Opel Blitz they're slower than everyone. M3 and M5 are also faster than SdKfz251.
@@czwarty7878 but his point is that he wants to play the soviets in game so what have jeeps got to do with it? at the moment its a game about the eastern front and the soviets are basically unplayable in a sense... I truly dont care the exact IRL gun fire rate and truck speeds ect i just want to play a fun game (this is all from the point of a 1v1 player)
And if you want my opinion, I think Eugen screwed up with transports being choosable like that. This makes most transport units being basically never picked and never seen in game because nobody in their right mind will take slower truck over Opel Blitz or GMC or whatever. In same way there's so much greatly modelled gun tractors like SdKfz 9/10/11 etc and yet never taken because every gun can be towed by lightning-fast Opel. This is to me another aspect where SD44 did it right, the transport that unit arrives in should be fixed and that way could be used as balancing parameter, as well as providing so much more uniqueness to game
