You need to react to Queen of the Murder Scene. It is an outstanding concept album, ie. a concept album tells a story...all the songs fit the overall narrative of the album! And this album fits your idea of a "chaos" album IMHO.

Yes, this is a special family. Shortly after I discovered the band (about 6 years ago), the girls were hosting a live stream with the fans. Everyone was having a grand time. Each band member was answering questions, jokes and barbs were flying back and forth. Then much to the horror and embarrassment if the girls, their mother jumped into the live chat to remind them that they hadn't made their beds yet. There were chores left undone. Dany quickly ended the live. The dynamic this family has is one of love, gratitude and respect. It filters through to their fans and peer interactions.

When you asked “ is that at a school?” Yes, it was a morning concert at their school ( Liceo de Monterrey) all students and parents were invited. It was after they had appeared on, and received funding from, The Ellen Show and needed to provide material to Berklee School of Music to help place them in a program. Each of them chose a song to highlight their individual talents. Ale chose Hysteria, by Muse, Dany chose Crazy Train, by Ozzy, and Pau chose Everlong by The Foo Fighters. They also played a number of their originals. Worth watching

So “Mayday” is an EP that is just half of “ERROR”. It was a pandemic thing. They recorded the entire album in 2020 but couldn’t release it because there was no touring. As the restrictions stretched out thru ‘21 they released “Mayday” as an interim step. Fun fact: the cover art of “Mayday” is intended to be the V.R. world the girl on the cover of “ERROR” sees in her goggles.

You are so correct. The Warning are their own genre. They take straight ahead 70s/80s rock adding a little punk and a little metal with a modern edge.
QOTMS is one continuous story. Each song advances the narrative. It goes from infatuation to love to obsession to murder to suicide.
"Martirio" is a fantastic, emotional song. Its at the end of Metropolitan and Pepsi shows. I prefer the Met but both are great. The music video is fantastic as well.

I feel like it's a one in a million chance that they all seemed to have the same vision, are perfectionists with so much drive to keep getting better, yet have none of the rockstar ego. When they do any of their live chats or Q&As they make you feel like they are just sitting in your living room having a conversation. Then there is the innate talent. The world is full of talented people that never had the drive to develop it. Thanks again for your insightful comments.

on the bit about playing the bass with fingers or pick, in Rock the bass is generally played with a pick... in other genres, finger style is predominant... in Ale's case, she plays both ways and does switch between them, in mid-song(!), when playing live during concerts... it depends on the song and the desired sound... playing with a pick gives more attack to the notes the same as playing a guitar...

All three of them are fairly petite. At the time Pau and her dad were looking for teachers, she was about seven years old... and given her full-grown height of five-foot-nothing (roughly), I can only imagine how diminutive she appeared as a first grader. I still believe part of her "animal style" she used until fairly recently was due to being a tiny child trying to reach and hit the drums hard enough to generate the appropriate sound. As I recall, if I'm remembering correctly, Paulina was the first one to start using a real instrument. Luis (their dad) had noticed how good she was on the drum pads that came with the video game, so he approached her first about lessons. All three of them had already had a couple years of classical piano under their belts at this time.
When Dany wanted to play a real guitar, her dad made a deal with her - he would buy her a guitar, but she had to stick to it and practice for six months at least. At the end of that time, if she wanted to quit that would be fine, but she had to give it six solid months. As she mentions here, after a couple weeks she was ready to quit... but a promise is a promise, and she stuck it out. By the end of that period, she was well and truly hooked. 😋
"Mayday" probably isn't on Spotify because "Error" is. "Mayday" is the EP that was released first, which contained about 70% of what would ultimately become "Error".

Thanks Sohum...have watched every interview, BTS, Vlog or After Show video these Ladies have gifted us, can never get enough, they are smart, witty, hilarious and down to earth! Here are a couple of definitions of "Concept Albums" :In popular music, a concept album is an album that is "unified by a theme, which can be instrumental, compositional, narrative, or lyrical. Here is another but basically you get it: A concept album is an album whose tracks hold a larger purpose or meaning collectively than they do individually. Anyway, QOTMS, written by 3 teenage Sisters is, in my opinion, one of the very best ever written, I have heard them all over the decades. (Examples of Concept Albums would be: The Who, Quadrophenia, Tommy, or Pink Floyd, The Wall, or The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway by Genesis just to name a few, there are many many Concept Albums over the Decades) Briefly, Queen of the Murder Scene is a concept album which tells the story of a disturbed young woman's inner journey from desire to obsession to murder and madness. The songs are told from the point of view of either the young lady's inner psychopath or her good side, which has a conscience - until it does not. Sorry for lengthy comment, but The Ladies perform the entire Album at Lunario CDMX from 2018, (6 years ago, they are much younger). Suggest, as other will, to view it start to finish as it is a story. Entire Concert available on The Warning YT channel (around 1 hour 38 minutes long) but worth every minute. Cheers, stay well Sohum.

Hi There a couple of reels or video with Dany showing the difference in height between her and Ale. Their microphone stands is what Dany uses. Ale was in grade 4 when they were making 21st Century Blood

Queen of the Murder Scene is a concept which tells a story of a girl getting in love with someone platonically and become obsessed, become a psychopath. You can hear the emotions evolve throughout the songs.
Mayday is an EP that contains the first half of their Error album. After Error is released, Mayday is removed from Spotify.
29:08 This song is called Martirio, their Spanish song in the Error album.

My dream for their next two albums would be a cover album, anchored by You Oughta Know, followed by an album of all new songs but released/recorded LIVE.
    A guy can dream.

So much information, so little space to fill it.
    Tidal Rising became Error.
The rest of the thousands of snippets of info I'll leave to TWA. Well, one exception, that old guy you see in the recording studio is the great David Bendeth. He taught them so much about being a cohesive band, and is great friends with them...though he fears Ale a little. As we all should.

This was a really great experience to watch this again with you Sohum. There are a couple other documentaries and interviews that will be worth your time, in time. Maybe do one long-form one after each album? (Mayday in the Making and the Allison Hagendorf interview(s) come to mind, but also the 10 year retrospective and some of the earlier interviews when they were just starting out, like the one from Rudy after his first month with them).

A concept album is one in where a story is being told. Examples include The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd, and Tommy by the Who. QOTMS is the story of a woman's decent from distant love to obsessive insanity over a man who does know she exists.

The last song is “Martirio”. Their best Spanish song, in my opinion, but there is a version of the music video with English subtitles if you really want to know what they are saying. Search “Martirio English lyrics “ and it comes right up. You REALLY need to react to it and the live from Pepsi as well.

a concept album refers to the song structure of the album telling a whole story. think of each song as being a new chapter in a book. most albums the song itself is the whole story and the individual songs don't necessarily have continuity with each other and can be played in any order and it won't mess with a story. playing tracks out of order on a concept album would be like reading random chapters out of order in a book.
hope that makes sense of what a concept album is and that it's not really anything special except that the whole album is a story.
Mayday was a 6 track ep that had 6 of the songs from Error.

What's funny to me as after 40 years of being a musician, seeing such musically educated musicians as The Warning, I can say that they have yet to release a song with a key change. I'm not sure what they mean by "key changes".
