☼ I bid you welcome, ᴜɴᴅᴇᴀᴅ.
I jumped down onto the shingles of the rooftop. At a distance stood a monumental tower housing the First of the Two Bells I was required to ring. Surrounding them, stood four Gargoyle statues, or so I thought. The statue moved and shook as if a chill took over it and tore its jaw apart, brimming to life. The wings spanned wide, the fingers clasped the spear it held tighter, and it let out a screech into the dense air announcing the arrival of an intruder. My arrival. It flew down, adjusting its wings out of the rust it bore for many years of dormancy, and landed heavily on the roof while its axen tail hovered behind it.
I looked up as it let out a roar. The other statue had started to shiver out of its slumber. Slowly, but surely.
Thus was my encounter with the guardians of the First Bell, The Bell Gargoyles.

✪ This is in NG mode, First Playthrough.
The Gargoyles are tricky, especially if you're going for the tail weapon. when it jumps up, then know it will land and attack you. Wait for that moment and dodge forward putting yourself behind it, then hack the tail. The second Gargoyle is worse as it breathes fire constantly but know the trajectory of the fire is always from your right to left. Time it well and you can easily run behind or to the sides when it starts breathing fire. A Spear definitely helps here.
☼ My First Ever Dark Souls Journey began back in 2011 on PC but I was too afraid to play them and my resolution wouldn't work out. It has been over a decade and I'm finally playing it now on PS4 Pro. Let's Begin our journey, Undead!
