Hi Jo, this was absolutely spot on, just what I needed! It's a pain when you can't get to see these tools in the flesh (or metal) but this has convinced me I need to save for one! Thanks as always (also the second collar shown was absolutely gorgeous).
Some great tips! Currently I have 6 splitters lying in my workshop. Most of them need a bit of tlc or light refurbishing. One among them is also a Dixon like yours. Not sure if I am missing something but when I use the adjustement wheel to set the thickness, I loose tension on the roller part and the roller gets wobbly.
Hello Jo, thank you for the video. Please can I ask you a question about the Joseph Dixon splitter? I am awaiting the delivery of an identical splitter to yours and have been using one of the better Chinese splitters bought off eBay, which incorporates a locking handle/knob, enabling the user to lock the gap between the roller and blade. A good idea in theory but it nearly always slips. Does the Joseph Dixon have a locking function or is one not necessary on this model?
I know you said you prefer to split that way but isn't that backwards from how your supposed to do it? If the the leather is thinner in a part of it won't you cut off the finished edge?
Hi
Your videos and tutorials encouraged me a lot to initiate leather crafts projects.
Nice work Jo and a very nice Dixon splitter too - lucky person!!
It's a lovely machine that's for sure ❤️

The double raised collars are my favourite for sure ❤️

Wow 6!! I am not sure on the tension thing, it is not an issue I have heard of before

Nice vid Jo
Thank you 👍
I don’t have one of these, yet! Have you tried pulling to the left or right so the blade enters the leather at an angle, like when we skive.
excellent fantastic video :):):):)
Thank you 🙂

You just need to keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't get too thin 👍
👍👍👌👌
Genial!!!!!
