    New subscriber here! You came up in my recommended videos on YT. I would love to see a recommended basic tool pack from you with links on where to buy them. Some TH-camr’s I’ve watched add affiliate links to Amazon so we can order them. I believe there is a small commission involved for you as well. Either way, I’d love to see a list of what we need to get started working with leather and other difficult materials.
    I’ve read many positive comments on this video and I totally agree with them all. You have a teaching style that appears to be easier to follow in the many other” How-To” videos on TH-cam. Thank you for knowledge and sharing it with us. Sincerely, Robin T

      I am planning on creating an updated tool guide which will hopefully be filmed and released soon. I don't use amazon links as I like to support local businesses rather than a company like amazon. I do have a Discord channel which you may find helpful with information on local suppliers around the world. discord.gg/b7mYk2SEHJ

    Thanks for sharing. I have found your video on sharpening edge skivers very useful. Have no oblong punch yet (being a complete beginner) but I guess the method is somewhat similar in case of round punches too.

      Heya, yes this is the same for round and oval punches 👍

      Heya it's lead. If you are in the UK you can get one on ebay www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Handmade-lead-block-for-hand-punches-5-x-1-/163802701529?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m2548.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

    Hi jo...🤣😁 thank you for another great video.
    As someone thats as clueless as me about leatherwork how would i cut a half circle out cleanly and accurately when trying to make a keyfob? (Yes this is about as experienced as i am...🤣🤣) I've tried a Stanley knife but whenever i go round the half circle end part, it seems to create some small squarish edges as im cutting round, i think due to stopping and starting when moving hand/leather piece position.
    Is there a gadget or punch i can get that can repeatedly cut out the half round ends of the keyfob.
    The straight bits im ok on, its just the rounded ends that im struggling to make neat and curved, its only minute, im not butchering it or anything, but i know its not the curve i want so if i know the curve is flawed i think others will see it also , so it bugs me....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
    Thanks for any advice 👍👍😁

    • @JHLeather
      @JHLeather  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can nibble at it and take lots of small pieces off and then use some and paper to smooth out any bumps. Cutting round ends is quite hard to do so try not to get too worked up at yourself for it .

      @@JHLeather brilliant thanks again Jo.....sorry for all the questions, i seem to plod along fine then there's something i get stuck on with no information for anywhere.....
      Maybe there's a video tutorial opportunity for you there..."How to cut circles and half circles when making key fobs." ..... I'd definitely watch it.🤣🤣👍👍

    @J.H.Leather What is the metal tin that you use as a punch backing? It looks like it’s full of lead which makes sense. And where did you get it?
    Ta much

      Hey Mark, my friends dad made them up. Its lead that's in a metal surround so it keeps its shape. She sells them on ebay if you are in the UK www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Handmade-lead-block-for-hand-punches-5-x-1-/163802701529?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m2548.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0
