He was also the baritone and music arranger of comedy barbershop quartet Chordiac Arrest, who were a fantastic ensemble. His contributions will always be remembered.
Strangely, I never knew The Empire Man or these ads until an "800" version of them started airing on stations in the Toledo, OH area since the start of the century. I think by the 1990's WGN's superstation feed was no longer showing local Chicago ads on at all so I missed out plenty on these.
588-2300 EMPIRE I grew up with that jingle back in the 80's when our Cable System had WGN SuperStation until 1989, but we got WGN back on Cable TV in 2003
They still sound bite his voice in the newer commercials when you hear "TO-DAY" at the very end. I think the last Empire commercial I remember seeing that he did, they were spoofing the x-mas song "Jingle Bells". I loved the corny-yet-zany comedic aspect of those commercials, and it's sad that the quality of them isn't there anymore since his passing. May he rest in peace, and I thank him for all the laughs.
I kid you not, my first girlfriend's father look and sounded exactly like the Empire Carpetn man. He could've easily been a stand in for the commercials.
Wonderful and talented guy. Thank you not only for the great commercials, but your service to our great nation. RIP.
This video was uploaded ten years ago. RIP, Lynn Hauldren. This man was one of the pitchmen of my childhood. Him and Billy Mays. 👨🏻🦳

I applaud that he served our great nation!
Him saying, "Today" is still retained in the Empire commercials. A great way to pay respect to him.
Message:Hello Empire. I love your company. Thank you for Awesomeness.

OMG I did not know he passed away! :(
They didn't use Rich Koz in the often imitated section? He did his Vampire Carpet Man sketch several times.

I always was under the impression his name was Lynn Burton and they knew him as "Lynn Burton for Certain"
Different guy. Lynn Burton was “your TV Ford man”.
I kid you not, my first girlfriend's father look and sounded exactly like the Empire Carpetn man. He could've easily been a stand in for the commercials.
