2 HOUR FLIP: FIXING An $800 Toyota 4Runner And SELLING It As Fast As POSSIBLE

  • I bought a 1993 Toyota 4Runner for only $800. We got it started (even though it was probably only running on 4 cylinders), and drove an hour back to Wichita in the middle of the night. The next morning we opened the hood and found a few very easy to solve problems. It only took 2 hours to get it fixed and it sold in minutes. Quick in and out with a truck this desirable!

    Common Questions:
What motorcycle do I ride? A few. Ducati 1198, Honda Goldwing, Honda Grom, Honda Ruckus
What do I do for a living? Make TH-cam videos.
Can you wheelie? No, I suck.
Are you fast? Sort of. I suck mostly though.
Where can I keep up with you off the bike?
    Instagram: WatchJRGo
Facebook: WatchJRGo (or JRGo, FB hates my branding)
Do you go to school? College, for 2 classes.
Why do you ride so dangerously? What do mean? I was doing 25.
Do you go to the track? Of course, hopefully there will be videos in the future.
Do you play video games? No, but I might stream N64 Goldeneye at some point. Twitch: WatchJRGo
Are you afraid the police will watch your videos and arrest you? Something something evidence something something warrants and due process of law

I have a nice trick I use when soldering engines stuff and even trailer wire harnesses. Use dielectric grease after you solder the wire then move the heat shrink over it and then heat it up. It will squeeze out some but will pretty much protect the wire from road salt and water rest of the life of the vehicle.

It's crazy how many project cars that you flip are just lacking basic maintenance stuff that could be found with simple diagnostics. Good for you.
Sth I learned from you is to be more cautious about what to change. Here on this one I would have changed spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, and so on - and while the costs are little, the time needed would be too much for such a quick flip. That's why it is great that you share your stories, we all can take notes here and there :)

That may work, but if you watch Sean woods mouse trap Mondays TH-cam channel he has tried all kinds of different things to see whether taste or smell would dissuade or chase away mice. None of it worked. If you put food particularly out they will eat it regardless. Perhaps something like wiring you might be able to dissuade them a little more easily. He blended some chemical to make it the most bitter taste possible, he tried 15 million scoville capsaicin, at a bunch of other stuff none of which worked.
But there are different varieties of mice depending on your location, and I would imagine depending on how hungry they are may factor in what they are willing or not willing to eat.

It's a '90s Toyota, they were officially the most reliable vehicles in the world. Of course it ran, pretty well. Mechanically they were pretty much immortal...
Sadly, if you live in areas where that could be a problem, rust could kill them pretty easily, however. The 4-Runner, however, being based on the HiLux and sold as the HiLux Surf in a lot of markets, has a very strong separate chassis so they tend to stay in one piece and it's really not too onerous a task to replace rusty bodywork, even to the point of replacing the entire shell if necessary...

toyotas with 300k miles are common, which says many good things about the build quality and reliability! I have had 2 tercels that made it past that, one i sold to a friend with 330k miles and the other was unfortunately totaled at 365k miles (a 2003 tacoma crossed the highway median and hit me head-on). My 94 corolla had 296k when i sold it (1.8l/5spd. burned more oil than gas lmao), i still see the kid driving it around town 2 yrs later. Several of my coworkers have mid 90's camrys and 4-runners with 280k-330k miles that they drive everyday.
