I know a lot of heterosexual guys who watched Desperate Housewives and really enjoyed it. And this is not a surprise: It is not about female everyday problems. It is more about family and neighborhood. It deals not with female problems, it deals with family related problems we all can understand. Being addicted to alcohol, drugs, losing your job, having trouble to find a new one, having cancer, having financial troubles ... that is universal.
Nope, it sure couldn’t. As great as the cast is, it’s the writing and brilliance of the inner complexities that I think are most outstanding, and definitely something you don’t see every day. Unfortunately, you may have another niles/Frazier crane, or Bree van de kamp, but it seems like this style of witty, sophisticated writing is no longer appreciated or found 😢
This was probably the first show I started watching... I was like 8, in the first years of elementary school. Now I am 27 years old and living/working in a completely different country but when I come for holiday to visit my family I watch re-runs with my parents because they still show it on TV monday to friday... so much nostalgia. And you are right, there will never be another show like this. This show has been my comfort zone for many many years during my childhood.
Mark Cherry shows in general have this kind of heart and stank to them. If you love this you should check out why women kill for sure. That show just got cancelled last year and it was so very similar in the best ways but new and different.
This show was absolutely amazing. Nothing compares. No episode was boring, every single episode would keep you on your toes. Acting was incredible, story lines were brilliant. Whole series was just phenomenal. One of the best series of all time
Yeah a bit exaggerated comment I guess, I watched the whole seasons in just 4 days , so it means I skip a lot of scenes , due to some very boring scenes , the actress that played Susan has many bad acting scenes and some bad directing amd especially writting , theres too many plotholes like the crazy sister suddenly cares about her sister's murder? and as it continues season after season I notice side characters scenes are becoming too short which means theyre in low budget and theyre tightening the belt. Season 1 is really good, but other season had just became so bad so abruptly , kinda like the Show Glee and Suits it was so popular then it just became old news because its not good anymore.

After all those years I love to think, that little Lynette Sophie Scavo is raised properly by Porter and Julie. Susan found another love of her life, like Karl and then Mike. Bree has done beautiful things in Kentucky State Legislature for poor ones and those in need and she is finally happy with Trip. Gabrielle is a famous fashion guru with her TV program, in California. Lynette finally achieved success as CEO in Katherine's business with Tom and Paige by her side. Juanita became a pretty and confident girl, like her mother, but without that horrible past. Maynard James became a tough but sweet guy, like his late father, Mike. Renee and Ben are happy in a childless marriage. And most of all, all ladies meet twice a year to talk with each other about anything, but without poker, since they did not have time for that. And Edie with all the ghosts is with them, on their journey of life. Like Mary Alice was on Wisteria Lane.

I never finished this series back in the day. May go back now and watch it after so many years. It was so cutting edge at the time. Sad to see Mike died. I always liked him as a character.
I agree, I had not watched the complete series while it had aired originally. I am glad I was able to finally do so. I hate Mike being killed off but am glad Susan was able to go on living without having a complete breakdown or something.
That void you feel after watching the end of an amazing show. This show was my comfort during one of the most difficult times of my life. Now I finished it, it's the end of and era 😢
To the people that keep on asking what Jennifer's secret was, that's the point we don't know and will never know. That's why it's a series finale. The point is the show that even though our characters have moved away from the lane that new residents will always move in and have their own secrets. So it's just showing us that Wisteria Lane will always be full of secrets.
I kept asking myself what the heck Jennifer's hiding in that box, but i understand what you're saying. " The less you know, the better" as they always say.
Came here right after finishing the finale with my mom, its the perfect finale ive ever watched, such a satisfying conclusion to the girls and wisteria lane ❤ will miss binging this show with my mom (brought us both to tears). It will always be out favorite show to binge watch for 6 hours straight 😂 Thank you for all the laughters, (TONS OF) drama, and bittersweet tears .Hope I could go back to the first time I watched this show after years of seeing it on disney+. Sincerely, a loyal DH watcher ❤❤❤
I just restarted the series last week. Still good to this day. I remember watching it with my mom and aunt when I was younger with pizza every new episode.
Marc Cherry is incredible. I've always been a big fan of DH ever since 2006. The anecdotes and narration they have on the show is very telling of us and somehow reflects the very messy lives we have And yet, as day passes we are still given a chance to change that.
Along with "Six Feet Under", this was one of the great series endings of that period. And those two were just recently surpassed -- by the ending of "Fellow Travelers".
Man... I've watched this show when it first came out, ar the age of 10. I watched it with my whole family, and never missed an episode... Watched rhe finale with my family. And now I'm 30, and still remember rhis shows values and themes... It shows how timeless this series is and how fantastic it was these characters and stories from our dear Wisteria Lane.
It hit me hard seeing all these poor souls standing there with their sad eyes, Mike and Karen with her son especially...It feels like the first season of American Horror Story.
The show had some good and bad seasons but it was a great binge watch. I can see why it was appointment TV, I couldn't imagine having to wait every week for new eps or between seasons either.
I remember watching this show from the beginning and being obsessed with every episode and season. And cried when a good character died or when somebody was crying in the show. When Lynette god cancer , when Carl was killed, when Edie died and they did her memory episode , when Gabrielle mom let her be assaulted by her stepdad , when Mary Alice killed herself , when Zack got hooked on drugs, and this last scene around the block. I grew up on this show it was hard to see it go but the women did an amazing job 🩵🩵
Loved the show and the ending. It saddens me when I hear that they never did get together for poker nights, afterwards. After all they all went through. . .
I wanted to live in that neighborhood. Minus the nut jobs, grief & deaths. I know it’s just a backlot but I still want to live there. The facades of the homes were beautiful. I liked Carlos & Gabby’s front porch & sitting area the most. Good memories.
Watched this growing up & binged on it a few months ago. Probably better now that I'm an adult & can understand the parts I didn't get as a child. One of the best shows
I just binge watch this series. Wow! It was a great show. The writers did an excellent job with the finale. Just wished that Nicollette Sheridan could have been negoitiated to return. Edie Britt was sorely missed.
Notice how their lives all changed for the better once they all left Westeria Lane. I feel like the whole show is a satire and indictment of suburban life.
this show, the whole cast means everything to me... I've learned such profound things through this show, each character is so complex yet simple and weaved together all the characters make a beautiful scarf with different patterns
In my head I don’t think the show meant “None of them ever saw each other again” I think it meant “Four grown women living successful, full, but busy lives couldn’t find the time for all four of them to be together again”
Just rewatched this whole show for the first time in a very long time. I forgot how great the ending was. I loved seeing all the characters who passed as Susan was leaving the lane. Supernatural was supposed to do something similar in its finale but couldn't because of covid, which I understand but the finale felt incomplete without it (imo the recurring characters were a big part of what made that show great). Seeing the characters who passed, esp Mike and Mary Alice, really made it complete and the ending perfect.
Man I miss Desperate Housewives! Best TV show in this type of category ever made! The only thing I'll never be ok with was what happened to Mike. I still hate that decision by the writers.
Desperate Housewives, Sex & the City, Golden Girls, The Nanny, Friends... Some of best tv classics. They don't make shows as good as these now, or maybe they do... I haven't watched TV for years. But those good old days.
@@maggieaishalee3829 oh House is definitely a modern classic. That show is still phenomenal television and that character of House is even better because he couldn't exist today lol

Beautiful message
beautiful 🥹
I wonder if Renee and Ben eventually moved out of Wisteria Lane

Lynette's and Tom's ending is what i loved the most.
I didn’t love the last season like I did the others. But I still miss this show and have never found anything quite like it since. It’s sad that it’s over
Just watched the whole box set again after years and it's still so funny , touching , silly at times and also serious too. Personally my fav season was 5 and the last one. Bree was my favourite without a doubt, loved her.
I will never forgive this show for killing off Mike. Everyone got a happy ending but Susan.
I never liked Mike. The lawyer guy was way better. He had an amazing body, and unlike Mike, he was successful.
@@leonardo899 you are so stupid then lol. Carl was nothing compared to Mike. Being a lawyer didn't make him successful in life because he had very bad character. And Mike definitely had the best body on the Lane.
@@pavlelekic2824 Carl owed a strip joint and made tons of money. Mike was so broke, they had to leave the house and go to an apartment.
Winner -- Carl
Carl had big muscles, and Mike was just skinny.
Winner - Carl
@@leonardo899 and how did he spend that money - on whores? Lol. Mike went to Alaska and worked so hard so they could move back asap. And obviously you didn't watch the whole show. Mike was not skinny at all. He was way more handsome than Carl with more muscles and more beautiful face. So Carl can never be a winner :)
@@pavlelekic2824 Mike was skinny muscular, Carl was muscular muscular. Mike is a lose who couldn't even support his wife.
Edie (Nicollette Sheridan) should have been in the last scene as a ghost she was a huge part of the show that is the only thing missing here
There was rows I believe and that's why she was left out.
MARC CHERRY hated her(according to Nicollete herself)
@@jasoncasey6667 excalty and I think there's was something else too like didn't or couldn't agree on something
Yeah as others have said, unfortunately the show's creator hated the actress who played Edie. She really should have been in that final segment but he obviously didn't want to ask her back. (I think she actually had a lawsuit against him at the time).
I'm surprised they at least didn't do a "back of the head" shot to imply her without needing the actress
I’m literally tearing up. So nostalgic :( why does nostalgia hurt?
Dear C, my Dear…🙂,
It is MY belief that Sadness IS a GOOD 👍🏻 thing ‼️‼️‼️
Just as our Failures keep us going & motivate us to do BETTER than before…
…Nostalgia can remind us-
1.) Where we come from;
2.) How we got to where we are NOW;
&…
3.) Gives us an idea of where we WANT to be GOING❤️🧡💛💚💙
ALSO, our Emotions, which are DEEPLY rooted IN Nostalia, keep us going as well. Hence, we become embedded w/ this feeling of HOPE…
🫶🏻👍🏻✊🏻✌️🤘🏻💪🏻🙏❤️🧡💛💚
Agree!
Because that's how time affects, alters, makes us evolve and transforms us before eventually killing us. It's a tool that defines our humanity and our condition as living beings. We live, love, regret, create, forget, forego, accomplish, strive, thrive then...fate happens.
INDEED…
🫶🏻👍🏻✊🏻✌️🤘🏻💪🏻🙏❤️🤍💙

I never finished this series back in the day. May go back now and watch it after so many years. It was so cutting edge at the time. Sad to see Mike died. I always liked him as a character.
I agree, I had not watched the complete series while it had aired originally. I am glad I was able to finally do so.
I hate Mike being killed off but am glad Susan was able to go on living without having a complete breakdown or something.
That void you feel after watching the end of an amazing show. This show was my comfort during one of the most difficult times of my life. Now I finished it, it's the end of and era 😢
This is the best one of series ending. There's a lot of emotions appear in a last 4 minutes. Very nostalgic.
The psycho pharmacist trying to look all angelic and pure is hilarious.🤣🤣
right? George definitely wouldve gone to hell cause he committed suicide lmfao
This is probably the best show ever made!!!! From beggining to end just perfection!
What I learned from this show is
Some great things can happen later in life, and so, we must never give up moving forward ❤️
just finished and this will probably be one of my favorite shows ever
Same
To the people that keep on asking what Jennifer's secret was, that's the point we don't know and will never know.
Sincerely,
a loyal DH watcher ❤❤❤
“…that even the most desperate lives are also wonderful.” ❤
I think it said "...that even the most desperate life is OH SO wonderful". It sounds more like Mary Alice. But maybe I am wrong. ☺️
I just finished rewatching this last night. It was such a great show. They don't make them like this anymore.
Seeing this took my breath away. I miss this show so much!
I just restarted the series last week. Still good to this day. I remember watching it with my mom and aunt when I was younger with pizza every new episode.
One of the best binges I have ever done. Great show.
Everytime I’m crying when Susan is leaving the town and when dead people watching her it’s so sad 😭
The music in this!!! My gosh! Spectacular! The whole show was just amazing!
It’s crazy how Mary Alice was in every episode but she wasn’t physically.
Technically but not every
@@florinparlo5124 yes every
@@polarbun7625 no, there were like a few where other characters did the voiceover, see for yourself
@@florinparlo5124 mary alice always did the recap thing though

Marc Cherry is incredible. I've always been a big fan of DH ever since 2006. The anecdotes and narration they have on the show is very telling of us and somehow reflects the very messy lives we have And yet, as day passes we are still given a chance to change that.
when the video hit 3:00 mark I just couldnt help it I started sobbing///this show was so good )))
Along with "Six Feet Under", this was one of the great series endings of that period. And those two were just recently surpassed -- by the ending of "Fellow Travelers".
I just finished the whole show today and that episod was so intense that I cried
I remember watching this finale as a teenager crying non-stop.
This show was pure brilliance from beginning to end
20 years ago today...
I visited the set today at universal. It's so gorgeous.
LOL "minus the nut jobs, grief and deaths"
most place like that the neighor dont even talk to each other.
Iconic television
best show ever
I miss watching this show. I still love it.
Years later, this ending made me cry
Série incrível, marcou a minha vida, conheci na quarentena e me ajudou a passar por aquele período
Just finished watching the whole series last night and this part got me 😭😭
Notice how their lives all changed for the better once they all left Westeria Lane. I feel like the whole show is a satire and indictment of suburban life.
this show, the whole cast means everything to me... I've learned such profound things through this show, each character is so complex yet simple and weaved together all the characters make a beautiful scarf with different patterns
My favourite show
They killed off so many ppl on this show 🤣🤣🤣
Same thing I thought watching this. Lol
Lol that was the main point lol good show indeed.
The best neighborhood with highest death rate
😅
They killed 52 people on the show!!! LOL 😂
I really miss this show
It’s on Disney+
So many people died on this show is what that scene reminds me 😭
In my head I don’t think the show meant “None of them ever saw each other again” I think it meant “Four grown women living successful, full, but busy lives couldn’t find the time for all four of them to be together again”
I just started watching this last year 2020 and I was in hook line and sinker !
Damn, This show has a higher body count than Game of thrones🤣
And better than GOT too 🤣
Nah this show needs to come back revived it’s a classic
Nah they'd just ruin it like everything else on tv today.
If I ever win the lottery big time I’m rebuilding Wisteria Lane in real life
One of my favorite shows but I could never remember all the mysteries and how they solved them
"..but sadly it was not meant to be"
I just finished the series for the second time, and I can say for sure, it’s better on the second serving ❤
Watching for the third time❤ best choice ever❤❤ season 5 yet.
Che nostalgia 😢ho amato molto questa serie. Irripetibile ❤
It was so sad Mike had to die almost at the end of the series. I felt so bad for Susan. I wish it never happened.
Man I miss Desperate Housewives! Best TV show in this type of category ever made! The only thing I'll never be ok with was what happened to Mike. I still hate that decision by the writers.
yes it made no sense too, like the loan shark murder didn’t lead to a mystery or anything there was no reason
Desperate Housewives, Sex & the City, Golden Girls, The Nanny, Friends... Some of best tv classics.
They don't make shows as good as these now, or maybe they do... I haven't watched TV for years. But those good old days.
I don't know if House M.D. is classic but definitly is also a top tier show
@@maggieaishalee3829 oh House is definitely a modern classic. That show is still phenomenal television and that character of House is even better because he couldn't exist today lol
I used to watch this when it was an episode per week, it has me hooked!
Respect to mike Delfino from France.
Great show loved it
This show was 100% genius from start to finish. A true modern masterpiece with an absolutely perfect ending. If only Marc Cherry's follow up series, Devious Maids, was half as good...
I still can't believe that there was a short period when The Sopranos, Desperate Housewives, The Wire, Six Feet Under, Battlestar Galactica, and Curb Your Enthusiasm were on the air at the same time...
The 2000s was a golden age of television shows!
@@JayJay-nc7pr Absolutely!
