Here is a fact that I don’t think many people know about chapter 3. When you reserve a battle in the old version you had to wait until the dude showed up to take you to the arena but in the remake once you schedule a match if you interact with the door he will walk in immediately, speeding it up a bit.
I think the slow start of Yoshi's running is to make the platforming easier as it could be easy to slip off ledges due to how fast Yoshi moved from a standstill in the OG version
The sheer amount of work that went into polishing up this remake really is staggering. I can’t believe how great it looks and how much attention to detail went into making it as incredible as it is!
@@medalgearsalad1419It’s inevitable that some smaller details would be removed, but for all the brand new details and content we got, I think the remake more than makes up for it.
The flies around the sapped fighters in the original definitely gave the impression that they were dead, and I for some reason didn't recognize those characters in end of the chapter scene, where they're alive and well to see you off with the others. Because of that I thought they actually did die for the longest time, so as a kid that part of the game was seriously upsetting and scary to me, haha
In chapter 4, if you're wearing the W emblem at the time you first defeat "Ghost Guy". When you return to town. One of the female twilight town villagers will actually recall Mario's appearance as Yellow Cap and Purple Overalls. (I'm unsure if this dialogue influence happened in the original). Sidenote: "ghost guy's" apperence will remain however it was like when you first enter battle with him. So if you take off the W emblem and defeat "ghost guy" for a second time, when Mario gains his identity back, he will come back red. Which is kinda cool. And kinda funny that your party travels with Wario, and is shocked when it's not Mario, despite the color difference lol
In the og, you had to dismount Yoshi to open doors. In the remake you can open doors while on Yoshi, but for some reason after you are through the door, Mario is off Yoshi and you have to re-mount him if want to continue riding him after the door.
4:18 you can skip all cut scenes if have already seen them. Zess t’s cooking., power upping party members, fortune telling, refighting bosses if you lost against them, etc.
Here's one that's pretty cool. In chapter 4, if Mario is wearing the "W Emblem" Badge when Doopliss copies him, Doopliss Mario will also wear Wario's clothes and continue to do so throughout the entire chapter. This is also the same in the Palace of Shadow if any if the Emblem Badges are worn. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe that was in the original
I’ve never played the original, but here are a few changes I noticed thanks to TH-cam. -When Doopliss changes back into his real form at the end of the fight against “Impostor Mario”, he what’s a new, tear animation. -The crows in twilight town will talk about renewable energy sources instead of global warming. -On your way back after having your identity stolen, Doopliss will jump in from the right before turning to face Mario, where in the original he just jumped in fro, the left side and landed in front of Mario. -After having your identity stolen and returning to Twilight Town, Impostor Mario and your partners will actually walk to the table and sit around it.
Another detail shown in this video is that Vivian’s smile disappears as she’s setting out in the remake, instead having a more neutral expression. One could imagine that she’s thinking that it’s going to be a repeat of what happened in Boggly Woods: Beldam misplaces something important, pinning the blame on Vivian via gaslighting, and preparing a harsh punishment for her. Needless to say, Vivian is NOT looking forward to this assignment.
Another detail I’d like to point out is that in the remake in Chapter 4 when you turn into a shadow Mario doesn’t make any noise while in the original he grunts like normal
Before I forget, once you get to the “identity theft” _art of the game, and once you find the missing letter, it will glow a red color in the UI where in the original, it’s just normal black.
Can't believe the amount of people taking early reviews out of context saying "It's just a cheap remake, they barely got any new fights". And here we are, at part 6 of checking how many changes they made in the game, it was clear the team really cared for the game as much as the fans.
Little detail you missed in the original when Grubba is defeated by Mario he says "No how could a young bod like mine could lose to such a chub" In the remake he said "No how could a young bod like mine could lose to such a schlub" Instead of "chub" he says "schlub"
The funny thing here is how everyone in the Glitz Pit keeps calling Mario skinny (which is funny in and of itself, given how Mario is usually seen), so Grubba calling Mario a "chub" at the end would be a weird reversal.
Not sure if it was mentioned or not, but at the very beginning in the remake when you enter Mario and Luigi’s house, there’s a group photo of Mario with all his partners from the first game. At the end of this game, when you’re back at their house, there’s a second group photo next to the first with Mario and all his partners from this game.
In then remake, when you defeat imposter mario (Doopliss) in chapter 4, instead of spinning and turning into himself, it looks as if a page is torn to reveal him. Similarly, when Mario turns back into himself in the same moment, it looks as if a Sticker is peeled off
Checking the rankings in the Glitz Pit terminal now displays a picture of the highlighted opponent(s)(or silhouettes if you haven’t yet encountered them for the first time). The title screen adds party members as they’re recruited and Peach and Bowser after their first respective interludes. It even takes into account what color Yoshi you get, displaying that same color for its title screen avatar.
fun fact. or not so fun. the music you hear from the email thing when you get the emails but before you open it is completly missing from teh music player so that world 6 theme is completly in accessible after the chapter is completed.. and the other short tune is missing too entierly.
The Star Piece that use to be behind the pipe that lead to the blimp to Glitzille in Rogueport has now been put under a flippable floor in that same general area (this is also the only Star piece that’s been affected like this, all others that have been changed, such as the one from the paper boat dock at Rogueport Harbor, have just been slightly moved) Chapter 4 now has a pipe that connects the rightmost house in Twilight Town to the hall next to Doopliss’s secret underground room. This halves the backtracking in the chapter. The Atomic Boo now has its own unique mini-boss theme. The hopeless battle against Doopliss where you guess his name is now truly hopeless, as where neither you nor he could damage each other in the original, now only HE can inflict damage. Furthermore, as the only option is to run the game deliberately makes the meter very high if not 100% to start. And upon returning at any point, the game gives you the option to run without fighting at all. The music for Twilight Town, Twilight Trail and Creepy Steeple gain a more eerie, low-key version when you have your body stolen, with the music returning to normal after Mario gets his body back at the end of the chapter. The villagers in Twilight Town now respond to your shadow self, INCLUDING if you have the L or W Emblem equipped. Even the Battle Master has different dialogue (don’t worry, he still allows you to practice) Upon finding the SuperBombBomb for Vivian, a cartoonish spring appears on it when she realizes it’s broken. The spring is even still there when Crump later uses it against Bowser in the Chapter 5 interlude. Perhaps the biggest thing people take notice of: Vivian’s dialogue while being added to the party confirms her to be transgender (Mario, being the all-loving individual he is, isn’t bothered by this in the slightest). Uses ZL at this point has Vivian supply all the hints to continue, as your other party members aren’t there. The dialogue for the some of the crows has been changed, as much of it was relevant during the GameCube era but is very outdated today. Upon confronting Doopliss at the end of the chapter Vivian now visibly teleports away in shame upon learning she was helping Mario the whole time, explaining whey she isn’t there to help your for the first few turns. The Super Bowser Bros segment has the Koopa King glow rainbow colors instead of pure gold in the original when he becomes invincible. And if finishing at giant-sized he now laughs in delight instead of just standing there. The cutscene where Bowser swims back to Rogueport now has a more comical version of his theme (which also plays at the start of the Chapter 6 Bowser interlude), with the music going silent when Bowser responds to Kammy’s gushing with fire breath and then changing back to Bowser’s regular theme immediately afterward.
Upon beating Chapter 4, Creepy Steeple’s hidden room (where you find a Shine Sprite and Zess T’s cookbook,) will have the quiz Boo from the box holding all of them. And said Boo will give you a 3-question quiz with an item reward for getting them all right (failing just has you have to leave the room and come back in try again). The Boo has a new quiz after every subsequent chapter is complete, with an extra-tough 15-question long quiz after beating the game.
Whether if you have the nostalgic badge on or not. When Mario goes to bed, in the original the lullaby is slow. But in the remake, the lullaby is a little faster now. Also a really cool detail. When you go in the Glitz Pit arena, Tape's boss theme from The Origami King starts playing.
There is 2 little thing I will like to share with the some changes this chapter got, but wasn't mention on the video neither in the comment. The Hotdog cardboard on the side of the Hotdog stand is actually interactive and you can get some cute animation from your partner. If anyone manage to get all the parnters of the game I suggest to go back there just for seeing those little animation your partners doing. It's kinda cute. Another addition/changes they made in the remake, when you are about to fight Rawk Hawk, and you are locked in the blue minor league room, some of the Lockers have actually some items placed in not all of them but some. The minor and major blue league locker rooms are accessible only at this very moment. So yeah if you have missed those items don't worry they are not required to do a 100% but if your short in item and you have forget to fill your pockets I think 4 or 5 items are hidden in the lockes of these rooms. I think one of them is a Life Shoorm. So yeah if you are not good at that game, and you doing a 2nd playthrougth take the time to search in those room might be helpful at the end.
In the original when grubba is giving you a tour of the champions room there is no poster of rawk hawk above the bed or at least the camera isn’t panned out enough to see it but in the remake you can clearly see a poster of rawk hawk
Interesting Fact: Before completing against Rawk Hawk for the 1st time when selecting Ranked Match in Chapter 3, you can now select to fight either Wings of Night or The Destructors using the Exi. Match option, where in the original, you would have to rank down in order to fight against them.
Yoshi needing to build up momentum was probably added to imply how much Mario weighs him down and that he needs to put a lot of effort into running. I guess it's a case of the game being a little too detailed.
I think some changes in chapter 3 that I noticed were the rules for matches seemed more unique and varied compared to the original, it seemed like there was a shorter cycle of special rules. I also I think Grubba’s dialogue for the special rule around finishing a match in a certain number of rounds was changed, he used to say “I’ve got a date with a hot chickadee and I don’t wanna be late!” Now I think they removed that line.
Here’s one that I saw, In the final Doopliss fight in chapter 4, in the original if you defeat Doopliss immediately he just dies, but in the remake he’s restored by a life mushroom and brought back.
Change: in the OG version, when you know doopliss’s name you come from the creeple steeple, but in the remake due to the warp pipe, you come from twilight town flipping the cutscene. This however will not happen if you do not use it or you fail spelling his name.
Here's something I've noticed during battles: In the original game, the audience makes normal cheering, but in the remake they make noises based on their species.
Wonky (the advice giver in Rougeport's underside pub) now has separate options for new and repeated advice, making it much easer to review something or get something new out of him.
Oh yeah, I could hear what sounded like Leitmotifs of Fanged Fastner, a brief bit of Shifty Sticker, and I think Dual Bladed Duelist in Rawk Hawk’s theme.
heres a detail you missed in chapter 3 when king K and bandy andy disappear there will be 2 new exhibition fights you can take part in one with the bat dude the other is with a bunch of spinnias
In the end of chapter 5 when you fight lord crumps he has that one attack where he rolls on an ball over Mario. In the original the attack went one time over mario and dealing damage and going back to the right position. In the remake the ball simply rolls further left and appears back right.
Just a heads up: Chapter 4, ostensibly, has the most changes out of any chapter. Given just the mid-chapter plot twist and the boss, it’s to be expected.

Out of all the chapters this was definitely my least favourite. It felt too repetitive and the fact that every battle intro and outro was the same didn’t help
In the original you can't jump over the little rope divider leading to the backstage entrance -- it's treated like a wall even though Mario should definitely be able to clear it. In the remake you can just jump over it, saving a couple seconds.
Here is a fact that I don’t think many people know about chapter 3. hi Nin10doland
Paper Mario is a great game
does anyone know anything about madden 25 being on the new switch??? any news or rumors?
Wow cool
I like how in all versions, Vivian’s status as a trans woman is retained. 🏳️⚧️
*Don’t say skibidi mario don’t say skibidi Mario*
Out of all the chapters this was definitely my least favourite. It felt too repetitive and the fact that every battle intro and outro was the same didn’t help
I thought its a remack not a senserd version
Hi
EVERYONE! EVERYONE WARNING YALL! WE GOT A DIRECT! WE NEED TO TALK!
Love ttyd
Playlist is out of order :P How i hate it when people do this
Kind of out of my control, you can “order by” and clean them up the way you want
Hi@@Nin10doland
I miss the old Yoshi run and flutter sounds 😢
Ok
In the original you can't jump over the little rope divider leading to the backstage entrance -- it's treated like a wall even though Mario should definitely be able to clear it. In the remake you can just jump over it, saving a couple seconds.
That thumbnail is misleading asf
In fahr outpost the bob ombs don’t say “da” or “nyet” anymore
