    It's always amazed me how with proper training you can take serious blows to weak areas...but it takes serious training to do it...hats off to the guy with the funny lisp...I'm sure he handled his bullies well

    So here is the question. Can he fight?

    • @highsiderider
      @highsiderider  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Let's put it this way, he can defend himself against unsuspecting would be aggressor. I can honesty tell you he is not a pretender.

    • @AreHusby
      @AreHusby 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Is this a fair question? Fight under what circumstances? In some form of sports competition, or in some other, possibly very different scenario? And has he made any claims that he is good at fighting under those particular circumstances? The primary goal of so called traditional martial arts is not to become "good at fighting", although a karate practitioner will be better than the average, untrained person, almost like a byproduct. The goal is often said to be to become the best version possible of yourself as a human being and member of society, or something like that. So if being good at fighting (whatever that means) is not his primary goal and he never made any special claims of that nature, your question is misdirected. Or?

      This guy explains it well: th-cam.com/video/ErGMW4kIITE/w-d-xo.html Martial arts, fighting and self-protection are not the same. The confusion arises when people are not clear on what they are talking about. Unfortunately far too many martial arts instructors blur the lines, sometimes intentionally, bordering on fraud.

    Martial arts are about sitting there and getting punched in the throat…

      Missing the point mate. This is just a demonstration. He may have trained to toughen that part of his neck, and due to his training he's demonstrating that he can take a hit in that area. It is also showing you that if you train and focus that training on anything that you do, you too will be able to do something that one may not able to do. In his case, he's able to take a punch at one of the most vulnerable area of the human body, the throat. I.e. If someone tries to choke him, he's able to survive long enough to counter an attack. Again this is just one aspect that he may have trained to be able to take that punch along with his other training he may have done over the years.
