Never thought I could ever relate anything in my personal life to Herc's channel, but I have in this video. I worked for a pretty high profile financial services company in a similar role to Sean. I found nepotism that was off the charts that really transcended racism. The management was all 'high society' type of people that went to exclusive schools and universities. So when it came to promotions, the management favored their own, giving the jobs to people from the same stock as them, even if they were lazy and/or incompetent. So people from minorities got caught up in that, because they were never a part of that 'old boys' network. But whities like me were treated the same, also passed over, cause we weren't from the right stock.
So there were two distinct social groups in the M&A department where I worked - 'The chosen ones' who were always upper class and white and the others which were middle and the higher achievement working class kids hanging together with the minority guys working there. The second group which I hung out in despised those non deserving workers that got promoters just for the schools they went to and who their daddy is basically. Life is unfair like that, but there is no point complaining, I quit that job and have been working for myself since.

That is true. I seen nepotism in the workforce, when it comes to people from certain colleges and fraternities. I even benefited from getting a job because the college I went too. I went to a Wesleyan University and applied for an Wesleyan based organization and I went into the interview they told me about taking a test and I had the job while everyone else had longer interviews.

I was the only brother around too and this story resonated with me. The reason that I am the man that I am today is because of my bunk mate Peter Madoff. We were in a Federal Camp together and it was akin to a collegiate educational experience.

NEVER judge a book by its cover. It’s a miscalculation, a miss, an oversight to do so, that can have dire consequences. In the street, that ish can get you bodied or booked, as we used to say. Both of these guys are pretty brilliant. They may have taken that brilliance for a walk down a dark path prior, but that doesn’t mean one has to walk that path same path forever. I know that as much as anyone. Glad they’re walking a different one now.👍
