      They can't afford to do that because as Fomo says, they've eliminated LCD products from their range almost entirely. They have ignored Mini-LED while other brands are cleaning up at the big-size end of the market at amazing prices. LG have painted themselves into a corner here, putting all their eggs into the OLED basket and being unable to offer 77"/83" at a significantly cheaper price. They NEED to reduce prices significantly if OLED stands a chance of surviving, otherwise it IS eventually going to go the way of Plasma, but it's hard to see how they can possibly afford to drop prices enough to make a difference at this point - they'd just lose even more. And producing anything affordable above 83" is obviously not going to happen, so Mini-LED will continue to dominate at those 98"-100" sizes, while the technology improves and gets even cheaper. I love OLED, but it's in big trouble. The purists and die-hard fans won't be enough to save it.

    I own a LG C2 83" OLED that is installed in the living room for two years now. I just bought an Hisense U7K 100" for the home theater room. The picture from the Hisense looks surprisingly similar to the LG OLED quality when viewed in a dark room, but the immersion due to the size is amazing experience. When you compare an OLED TV side by side to an LCD, the OLED will always look better, but having both TV's I will definitely preferer the Hisense due to the size and great picture quality.

    Thank you in advance for covering large screens, we know OLED's are the best tech however some of us (who can fit them) are ok with 85-90% performance with 150% immersion of 98 panels. 98/100" is the new 65" (remembering way back when at the time I got one of the first 65" plasma and everyone gauking at the size of the TV lol). Could be a great thing for LED tvs to stay relevant going against OLEDS at this very large size. The immersiveness alone is a plus factor. Imagine if 100 inch tvs become the new normal size everyone starts buying especially if the price is between $3500 to 5000 dollars. Hummm something to think about. 😊

    • @KryssN1
      @KryssN1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be honest the TVs are so good now, that the small difference of MiniLED in shadows detail is easily made up by immersion due to size and vivid HDR colors.
      Plus at 100'' size, the MiniLED are small enough to have minimal blooming, if not any with good software.
      For me at 9-11 feet distance, perfect size is ca. 80-100 inches. So that would be perfect!
      I will take 8K Mini LED 120hz VRR ALLM 100% DCIP3 2000 dimming zones 100'' TV over 77'' S90C which I got for 2000€ any day.

Thanks to Fomo for shedding light on the larger panels, maybe not OLED tech but today's Mini LED's are very close and many would choose emersion in the larger panels versus getting the best tech in what is today a small panel.

      When the 85 and 100" U7K came out we sold all the stock within the retailer I'm based in in the first week. Now its constantly a forward order because they get bought as soon as they come back into stock, this is in a small shop of the chain I work in, I can't imagine what it would be like if I was in a "superstore".

      My experience is that people care more about the combo of size and price. Hisense 100" U7K is cheaper than even their own 100" L9H projector and blows the PQ of it out of the water, this year there will be 110" from Hisense so I just don't see the point of Laser TVs/projectors especially when they have fixed screens.

The A80L is also not future-proof for 2023, for example in terms of brightness, on the contrary, it is disappointing. Ok, lets get in to it. First Sony and LG did not abandon LED, they never tried with full array/mini LED Tech. In 2016 when oled hit, Sony responded a year later with the beautiful E 900 and Z9D and never did any better than that. Than Sony went oled completely and gave us washed out colored led Tv's after, and has limped on ever since. LG has never had a decent led tv that they did not have to over hype to sell, when you talk about crap, that has always been LG style with LED. Now there is a more advanced form of HDR coming soon, and knowone is talking about it. From what it looks like the only Brands preparing for it is TCL and hisense, this HDR will be 3000 and up of the nit brightness that oled tech can not and won't ever be able to hit not even quantum oled with out over heating. You think TCL and Hisense put out there prototype 5000 nit tv's this year just because. No it's bcause the advanced HDR will be 3000 and up. As of 2025 any tv that can't hit 3000 and up will not support the new HDR coming soon. All LED needs to do is produce 12/16 bit color and improve there picture processing and oled will be what it has been from the beginning, an ageing technology. As for contrast/black levels, LED has been 75 percent there for the last 2 years and has been getting better, a great exsample, the TCL Q7, standard full array with high contrast and is 25 percent behind oled black levels. All TCL and Hisense need to get right in 2024 is better BT2020 coverage and step up there processing alittle more, there very close behind Sampsung when it comes to picture detail and clarity. I think if Sony and LG want to make tsome money back, they need to try TCL and Hisense hard with there LED TV's. I mean every year when Sony LG and Sampsung don't step up, TCL and Hisense are just getting closer and the premium prices are becoming devalued. There letting the under dogs set the line of diminish and returnes.

    But it doesn't end there. They are also moving forward with much brighter miniLED and also more zones. 5000 nits, 5000 zones and imagine that in 85" and 100" TVs and they have better price points.
    Imagine strong enough Sony processing handling 5,000 zones. It would be game over for OLED IMO. There would be virtually no blooming, and micro-contrast with that amount of zones will be close to OLED.
    Also shadow detail in real life means the "ultra contrast" of an OLED isn't even realistic. They have issue with near black because of inability to light them up but so little they only display near black. It either becomes all black or too lifted.

      The Samsung is an epic ripoff with only 120 zones are 98", that is extremely poor for the price you pay. At least the Sony has the Sony image processing pedigree, still far far too expensive, it should be 5000 max when you get what you get from Hisense for 4000 and less.

      Unfortunately it's not on display anywhere in the UK afaik but the 100" U7K is amazing for the money (currently 3500), TCL has a 98" with a slightly lower but similar spec for 3200 but the problem is their uspcaling, motion and gradient handling sucks vs 2023 Hisense so sub 4K looks crap on such a large screen.
      I definitely recommend taking a look at a 65" U7K somewhere for a reference for the picture quality, he 100" is even higher spec with many more zones and more brightness so if you're happy with the 65" image quality (99% of people i show it are amazed considering the price, eg £600, £849 and £1300 for 55-75") then you'll love the 100" even more.

      @jrerobert once u get up to the top end flagships from samsung and sony, anyone will be impressive.
      The best looking TV I've ever seen is the samsung s90c OLED, but QN95C should be good as long as it's a VA panel.

    Great video. Slightly unrelated question to the video but I’m looking to upgrade from my qn94a as I want more than one hdmi 2.1 input. Obviously you’ve got the big 3 LG G3 Sony A95L S95C also S90C but I’m conflicted on what to get. It will primarily be used for gaming as well as the odd movie or tv show. I pretty much want something that can do it all and not just succeed in one category. Any one have any suggestions I’d be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hey @Stop the FOMO do you think highsense would do well to resurrect the U9DG dual cell design at 100 inch?
    I feel like it’s lack of motion. Clarity wouldn’t really detract much because at 100 inch you’re talking cinematic experiences.
    Think of a 100 inch dual cell LCD at say $7500 up against a 98 inch OLED for $10,000
    My current set up for projection is a pair of Nebra Anybeam, MEMS, laser projectors in Nvidia surround. I get about a 109 inch image out of that and it’s capable of infinite contrast ratio and comparable motion. Clarity to an old-school CRT running at 60 frames per second

    • @stopthefomo
      @stopthefomo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Dual cell is dead because diminishing returns - too expensive to set software up properly and not bright enough to even beat OLED? Not worth the premium

    I’m surprised more hasn’t been said of the demise of projectors with tv coming in at these sizes. Factor in that TV at that size will bring in more color and daytime view ability to picture (pun intended) unless you want to rock a 150-200 inch screen, I say it’s a wrap.

    Hello FOMO, very informative all your videos. Looking for some guidance: I presently have a Samsung 75" UHD (UN75RU9000FXZA), connected to my Denon AVR-S750H receiver which I have connected my Fire Stick 4kMAX. With all the QLED, Mini-QLED, Neo-Qled and OLED not user which route to take. As many user looking to get the most bang for my buck, yet want Quality! I am not a gamer, but would take advantage in the future and purchase a gaming console. I mainly watch my tv channels via a streaming app, as well as watch TH-cam content and Prime video. Since BIG is the new norm, looking at either 85" or 98". Guidance Please!! Thanks in advance, keep those reviews coming !!

      Hyundai , Kia. Poached d TOP enginners from Luxury brand : INFINITI/ LEXUS. Over Decade ago. N they re designed all the Kia n Hyundai from scratch. Almost modeled after d Luxury Infiniti/Lexus but put “cheap car body” to mass sell , to corner the market . Ppl used to Hyundai/Kia nowadays. If they want to “upgrade” , try BMW X3 X5, Mecedes c300, Audi A3, Lexus r300….they will be like “this SUCKS, bumpy, small, over priced, premium gas/ insurance, n feel like in a HOnda Civic paying 3X price. WHY is Subaru Impreza WRX so bumpy?? Why is Mecedes 8 Seater G wagon so stiff??”
      And Kia Hyundai used to be d 2 Worst Brands, now since they RE vamped their design/quality ,,,they are d PREFEREd brands. A LOT of ppl PREFER HYNDAI/KIA over entry /mid level “premium cars”. Because u sit INSIDE d cars when driving. What looks outside doesn’t matter it gets old quick. U sit long enough u ar used to butter fluid comfort, Intuitive handling…NO bumpy , less swing in stop n go traffic. U cant go back to bumpy Glorified “premium CARS”. I always always always vomit in my friends’ BMW/MECEDES. I have gotten into Mecedes G wagon in Uber .worst car ever so ugly n stiff. D thing is ppl drove those cars, they have NO been in HYNDAI/Kia, they ar NOT going to WANT to bother trying it out, cuz its like :”how is it possible” ???
