I got one recently and was pretty impressed for the price. It sounded like my old tube screamer, with a little more gain. I did a couple modifications though to add bass and tame the high end. I added a mini-toggle switch and jumpered a 0.047 cap in parallel to the bottom of the pcb on the 0.047 cap below the drive pot (C10). The bass boost sounds very good on single coils and doesn't sound muddy. I also soldered a 56pf cap parallel to the outer lugs of the drive pot on the bottom side. It tames the high end when the gain is turned up. Tube screamers and their clones sound fizzy when the gain/drive is cranked. It sounds a little smoother now at high gain settings. Very easy mods for those that can solder. I didn't have to disassemble the unit; just removed the bottom plate.
Loved the first setting with everything at 12 o'clock. Gary Moore would recognise the Walkway's sound as well :) . The big question is does it work with the Rowland Micro Cube ? - not allowed to have my Marshall in the house :( .
I bought this pedal from aliexpress awhile back, but it just doesn't cut with me. Is it a thing that tubescreamers don't work well with Vox amps (too much mids on an already mid humped amp?), or am I doing sth wrong lol
Great review. It's almost surprising when one finds something considered "budget" and it holds its own. I like Harley Benton's, brand of Thomann, myself. Are you by any chance related to the former hockeyplayer Kyösti Karjalainen (LA Kings, Luleå Hockey)?
No I'm not, and not J. Karjalainen either (the singer) :D Sometimes budget stuff can be really good. I wouldn't take one of those out on the road though, at least not without a backup.
Elmo Karjalainen Spoken like a true pro 😊. The question just popped up in my head in the moment I wrote it. I learned a couple of years ago that Tikkanen's are all related. There's a homepage, meetings every year, even our own hymn 👀. Tikkasten sukuseura. Great fun. In a haha-kind of way. Wouldn't surprise me at all to stumble upon something alike for all the Karjalaiset out there. But on the other hand- the cynical and arrogant ways of the Tikkanen-clan are widely recognized in northern Finland. End rant.
Hi nice review. Question, I play my guitar directly through the amp(music man 130hd valve amp), now want to by this joyo pedal, so I connect guitar to joyo and joyo to amp and thats it? Or need something more in between? Thanks
Hi Elmo, I just got one. My rig makes no noise at all, Marshall preamp, mesa power amp. I plugged in the joyo and on OR OFF the noise is completely unacceptable... did you use a gate? Did you have this problem? I dont know if I just got a bad one :-( Thanx for a great review!
Hi Steve, and thanks :) I always use a noise gate with overdrives. Most of them make a bit of noise. The Fender Yngwie Malmsteen is pretty bad when it comes to noise. I can't remember what the case was with the Joyo regarding noise, but I did have a Boss NS-2 connected.

Rock & Roll MD Cool advice. Thanks 😊
It Sounds great, I got one on eBay for 15 🦑, love the blues sounds! The reason I got it is to complement the walrus Slo, a bit of a lush combo.
Sounds great! Expecting one tomorrow
Very nice Emo.. I think the Joyo JF-01 sounds a little spikey in comparison to the Behringer T0800 which I prefer to be honest.. I have both..

Don't think it would work too well. But you'd have to try. Good thing is it's cheap, so it wouldn't cost much to try.

Dunno. Sorry.

I see your cup of tee is something like blues overdrive sound unlike ultimate drive which is good for heavy overdrive i think :)
I like the Fender Yngwie Malmsteen Overdrive most.
