- Dale Earnhardt Jr takes some time to explain how he has used iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations for work and play. Jr also discusses how people can make names for themselves, how the bar has been raised by iRacing.com, and how his friendship with iRacing staff member Kevin Iannarelli pulled him into the development process of the simulation.
@nr2003kid Essentially, yes. Papyrus closed. iRacing was then founded by Dave Kaemmer (who founded Papyrus). Most of the early iRacing staff were directly from Papyrus. iRacing bought the source code for N2003 from Sierra and started developing it. It probably looks familiar, but you'd see the differences if you try it.

how does Dale not have a simrig and a Fanatec wheel? Of all the people to sim on the cheap...
@nr2003kid It would be best with a wheel, but a joystick is better than using a gamepad or something of that sort. You may want to eventually get a wheel so that you can have access to both pedals quicker (with a joystick you have to go all through the axis to get from gas to brake).
Anything except satelite broadband would work, 3G can be problematic. We have users using dial-up who do fine except in the races with large fields of cars.

@SuppaNova2012 Jr's been a big online sim racing fan for a long time and was a fan of Papyrus' sims years ago. He's been very involved with iRacing and does this as a hobby, not as a paid pitchperson. He's actually online a fair amount with iRacing.
I'm wanting to try out iRacing, but I am afraid that my computer will not be able to handle it, and I do not have a lot of money, so I can't afford to waste 15 or even 5 bucks. Not only that but I want to get a G27 before I even buy this, but my current steering wheel will work, but Force Feedback doesn't work.
@nr2003kid We do have people on 56k, but I am not sure exactly how they're connected to their modem. If you want you could contact the support team to discuss?
If iRacing puts in dirt cars (spirints, midgets, maybe rally :O ) i will buy this, even though i plan on gettin it anyways. :D

@nr2003kid If you check google for promo codes you might be able to find something to help you out. There's also usually a promo up on the company home page. Not sure how much that helps you though.

@iRacingTV oh...i didnt know that...Do you have to have a wheel? cus all i have is joystick...and i dont think my connection would be good enough
@iRacingTV well its not the type of internet (i have 56k) but i use wireless (i connect to a router not a modem)

is iracing made by papyrus? cus it looks just like nr2003

i tried the racing is ok but the pepole on their are such snobs
plus i want a disk
and even when you get your C Class Rating you still have to buy the cars
iracing is the best! i hope it never sells itself out and stays to its roots. stay affordable! and iracing will be around a long time

@iRacingTV you sure, im sure i seen something on the forums has him saying that doesnt really back up what hes saying in this video, just descussing the issues that iracing has that should have been resolved over 2 years ago, just saying!

iRacing blows, theres to may problems with it and to many idiots to have fun! you touch someone and you get a 4x or your suspension just breaks when you touch them!
ahh hes paid to say this i believe, i just dont believe the cars drive the way they do on here!
