The more accurate term would be like yamcha beating the decayed corpse of goku being possessed by AI. This patchwork NEXT is possibly nowhere near the destructive capability that prime White Glint displayed (single handedly defended an entire nation). But yeah this fight thematically (and gameplay wise) is one of the best fromsoft bosses next to Gael and Isshin. Its just a shame AC:V is... well, AC:V lol.

Just wanted to say thanks to the people who still come back to reminisce on my videos of Armored Core. I posted these years ago when I was 15 years old, back when I had a teenagers dream of learning about video editing and content creation. Obviously it never really went far as life had other plans for me, but this series was a big part of my childhood. As I got older I look back and missed every second playing it with my old friends. Life's changed a lot for me growing up, as I've been serving in the Army for the past 8 years. But seeing people comment and like on here over the years gives me this indescribable feeling of comfort and happiness. Some of you have messaged me on updates on all things Armored Core and it honestly flatteres me that strangers keep me in the loop of it all. So thank you to the fans for keeping this young Raven's favorite childhood video game series alive. ❤
This was beautiful to read. Armored Core was a big part of my childhood as well and seeing the series will continue at nearly 30 years old warms my heart. Thanks for sharing this so long ago and I hope you'll be able to share again once the dream continues in ACVI.

Honestly just from this little exchange, he gives me chills. There can be nothing more terrifying than fighting someone who lives and breaths it. Who genuinely revels in the brutality and carnage and only feels at home amidst the chaos of battle. It's a whole different beast every time I see a character like that.

This is one thing I loved about the armored core games,. They're one of few games where you're not focused on the enemy's health because you're too busy either reacting or trying to plan out your attack,.
For me it's more so that I'm too focused on the sound of alarms going off as I try desparately to dodge the relentless enemy AC's and buy myself time to set up my sniper cannon. I love the big thing but hot damn is it near useless for me at times.
It sure as hell makes more sense than the overhyped barrel rolling of Dork souls. No one does barrel rolling in IRL fights. But it makes sense for high powered mecha to be boosting around at high speeds to dodge incoming enemy attacks.
@Lt Raltier You do realize that the mobility seen in Armor Core is unrealistic to, right? The mechs defy physics with how easily and quickly they can change direction. The AC have no inertia, and the pilots seemingly don't experience any form of g-force even with their rapid changes in direction.
@@nobodyscomment929 You're correct, the AC series, especially ACFA, is highly unrealistic in terms of physics, some "inaccuracies" could be explained with technology though, such as inertia dampenners, genetically modified humans and injected steam of handwavium liquid in the body to sustain G-forces, lack of inertia explained by counter thrusters (albeit, they do have some inertia, just not as much as how powerful their thrusts are) and incredibly sturdy materials... Even then, it's unrealistic but it can keep some illusion going, just enough to enjoy it without thinking too much of how physics is not respected.

It is meant to reference the 00-Aretha piloted by Joshua at the end of AC4 mixed with White Glint from ACFA but there's no direct in universe connection. Think of it more as a cameo/easter egg. You can definitely say the N-WGIX/v was engineered from the economic war era NEXTs, though. It's heavily implied with the dialog and the abilities similar to that of kojima technology. Another detail for the cameo: Johji Nakata, the Japanese VA for Joshua is also voice of J.
The older games were more accurately described as Dark Souls but with giant robots (because of the difficulty curve and the fact that they're both produced by the FROM).
Exactly. Those plebs didn't know that Armored is on the scenes before the "souls" genre as we know it, even became a thing in existence. This is old to the roots From Software, this is pure mecha.

@@slymilitiaman9171 nope, ace combat is just aim and dodge. Ac has many things to consider, you must feel your own made AC to move smoothly without overheating and/or loosing energy. All shot also must count, it's pretty pricey and no replenish in mission same as your health.

The arms and head of N-WGIX/v are very similar to white glint, the main body looks like chunks of the Leos klein AC with the spine of Filial from AC2. J being a clone soldier it's entirely possible he's spliced from the last boss pilots of previous titles like Otsdarva/Klein etc.
I really hope AC6 keeps this aesthetic. I liked the clean, sterile look of 4 and its HUD, but 5 is on another level. It's like the original AC trilogy but more nightmarish and dystopian which is exactly what the series is about
Its basically what happens eventually when you join O.r.c.a. in for Answer. All the Cradles are destroyed and people start fighting over whats left from a totally fucked up earth.
The FromSoftware of today is so much better at dialogue. They've truly mastered "less is more" storytelling. Sekiro is the closest comparison, in which there is a singular defined protagonist. The boss dialogue was sparse but impactful and utterly badass every time. Owl, Genichiro, Isshin, all having great characterization even during battle. Excited to see what they'll do with ACVI!
No.. White Glint was retrofitted into this monstrosity... What have they done to him?! I know it was a very good AC... But to use it to fight for what it was against?! That's low even for the foundation
Man, people really did sleep on this game. Say what you want, ACV and ACVD were perfectly serviceable AC titles and didn't deserve the hate they got. A return to the old formula, but faster.

Well it makes sense considering that Black Glint was literally collecting dust for more than a century is not at it prime but considering it still operational and with some Kojima Particule equipment intact that's surprising J and the Foundation managed to control one

You can get Daemon X Machina on PC (Steam more specifically.) It's by some of the people that made Armored Core, thus making Daemon X Machina = Armored Core: The Anime (Basically.)
Closest we can get is through emulators. The PS2 titles are ok, but the emulators for 360 and PS3 don't work perfectly. Either performance is bad or textures and sound are messed up.
When AC6 was announced I immediately started getting into Armored Core. I started by emulating some of the really old games since I couldn't afford to get a physical copy before I moved on to AC4: For Answer, which I love. Afterwards I moved to Verdict Day, and I'm struggling to get my emulator to run it properly, haha. It's so different from For Answer it gave me whiplash, and constantly hearing "System: Scan Mode!" "System: Combat Mode!" "Power at 30%!" annoys me to no end. If I could get my emulator to run it for more than 10 minutes in the first place, I think the constant voice lines would drive me insane.

@@CorruptInfinityOfficial You'd be surprised, they've made some very complicated model kits before that one would not expect to get a kit, a good example is the Bst striker from gundam. Thing is absolutely massive. That being said, there WERE kits made of this mech, just not by a major company. Garage kits that were 3d printed.
It's more of a game feel thing. The lock ons work totally differently in the two games, to say nothing of the speed. But on a visual level, a lot of the environmental detail just doesn't exist in 4A because you're meant to be zipping past it all constantly. After a while it can look borderline sterile, and kind of obviously held back by hardware limitations of the time. Of course, then and now, it was hard getting past Armored Core turning into Gears of War unnecessarily. I think there's a reason the franchise took a break. NWG-IX is the Soul of Cinder of Armored Core.
@@hardgay7537 oh I meant the movement, in FA a lot of movement is more or less free whilst in VD it seems that you actually have to use the environment but can still go fast, at least for something the size of an MT. You feel the inertia a lot more
After getting my intro with AC6, I'm going back to play the older titles and man, after beating FA and trying VD for the first time, I REALLY miss my NEXT. I wouldn't call the game bad, I'm just finding it hard to get into it. Definitely want to take another crack at it to see actual boss fights though, most of the bosses in FA and Nexus (the other two old-gens I've played so far) were a letdown.
One of the things I loved about this battle is the fact where face off again the same mech we use to pilot in a for answer, which these mechs were nasty things to face off against, hell we piloted one and our AC was deadly. This new model strong does not have the same power output or damage the older ac use to have an yet we took it down with timing and hell of an upgrade.
Please excuse me as I gather as much information about this series as I can after seeing the trailer saying Armored Core is coming to the current generation.
Ok, seems pretty straightforward, all I need to do is "System combat mode", "System Scan mode" and keep "energy at 30%". Nice, might be useful for my first of the series.
I wanna say before you start scan mode was added to 5 and verdict day gameplay and the reason he does initiate it is because it increases energy regeneration but prevents weapon usage
I want to give this mission another shot some day. I only made it through by getting tank legs, the heaviest parts, dual heavy machine guns, and a massive bill for ammo and repair costs.
Anyone else notice that at 4:22 J's voice starts to double slightly with a higher pitched voice in the back? Reminds me of Nineball's multi voices, could be a callback like the Pulverizer in AC Nexus

I feel dumb that I only just clocked onto that you're basically fighting against an AC4 NEXT in this mission what with its look and size, extreme mobility, flight and assault armor attack.
@@Razgriz_01 Doesn't matter how powerful it is. Remember, the pilot in VD is an unaugmented baseline human in a 5-metre-tall AC against an 11-metre-tall NEXT piloted by a genetically enhanced clone of Joshua who has all of his skills and knowledge from the UNACs.
This narrative is dumb. 5th gen AC's aren't piles of scrap. The C03 Malicious's the Lone Mercenary piloted are all made of completely new parts. Not to mention he canonically counterpicked J.
Compared to the NEXT it's a pile of scrap, the point is more so it's not nearly as strong, they are new parts but I believe compared to even third or second gen AC’s the fifth games AC’s are worse (cough cough, energy at 30%)

The boss had to have been built from the preserved remains of White Glint. It's even got the Kojima particle/primal armor system.

@@slymilitiaman9171 nope, ace combat is just aim and dodge. Ac has many things to consider, you must feel your own made AC to move smoothly without overheating and/or loosing energy. All shot also must count, it's pretty pricey and no replenish in mission same as your health.

The arms and head of N-WGIX/v are very similar to white glint, the main body looks like chunks of the Leos klein AC with the spine of Filial from AC2. J being a clone soldier it's entirely possible he's spliced from the last boss pilots of previous titles like Otsdarva/Klein etc.
Believe it or not, N-WGIX literally means "Next-White Glint [Model] 9".
J is likely a clone of Joshua O'Brien and Anatolia's Mercenary.

I really hope AC6 keeps this aesthetic. I liked the clean, sterile look of 4 and its HUD, but 5 is on another level. It's like the original AC trilogy but more nightmarish and dystopian which is exactly what the series is about

Its basically what happens eventually when you join O.r.c.a. in for Answer. All the Cradles are destroyed and people start fighting over whats left from a totally fucked up earth.

to be fair, it is souped up with next technology. still a really impressive feat, especially considering this is white motherfucking glint.
The FromSoftware of today is so much better at dialogue. They've truly mastered "less is more" storytelling. Sekiro is the closest comparison, in which there is a singular defined protagonist. The boss dialogue was sparse but impactful and utterly badass every time. Owl, Genichiro, Isshin, all having great characterization even during battle. Excited to see what they'll do with ACVI!

Man, people really did sleep on this game. Say what you want, ACV and ACVD were perfectly serviceable AC titles and didn't deserve the hate they got. A return to the old formula, but faster.

Hell yeah we are. Like don't get me wrong, the endless "ARMORED SOULS!?!!?" posts might get annoying, but it's a small price to pay for a series I love getting a absolutely historical amount of attention.

You can get Daemon X Machina on PC (Steam more specifically.) It's by some of the people that made Armored Core, thus making Daemon X Machina = Armored Core: The Anime (Basically.)

Closest we can get is through emulators. The PS2 titles are ok, but the emulators for 360 and PS3 don't work perfectly. Either performance is bad or textures and sound are messed up.

When AC6 was announced I immediately started getting into Armored Core. I started by emulating some of the really old games since I couldn't afford to get a physical copy before I moved on to AC4: For Answer, which I love. Afterwards I moved to Verdict Day, and I'm struggling to get my emulator to run it properly, haha. It's so different from For Answer it gave me whiplash, and constantly hearing "System: Scan Mode!" "System: Combat Mode!" "Power at 30%!" annoys me to no end. If I could get my emulator to run it for more than 10 minutes in the first place, I think the constant voice lines would drive me insane.
Sadly verdict day crashes on my emu after skipping any Cutscene, would like to play it one day

@@CorruptInfinityOfficial You'd be surprised, they've made some very complicated model kits before that one would not expect to get a kit, a good example is the Bst striker from gundam. Thing is absolutely massive. That being said, there WERE kits made of this mech, just not by a major company. Garage kits that were 3d printed.

It's more of a game feel thing. The lock ons work totally differently in the two games, to say nothing of the speed. But on a visual level, a lot of the environmental detail just doesn't exist in 4A because you're meant to be zipping past it all constantly. After a while it can look borderline sterile, and kind of obviously held back by hardware limitations of the time.
Of course, then and now, it was hard getting past Armored Core turning into Gears of War unnecessarily. I think there's a reason the franchise took a break. NWG-IX is the Soul of Cinder of Armored Core.
@@hardgay7537 oh I meant the movement, in FA a lot of movement is more or less free whilst in VD it seems that you actually have to use the environment but can still go fast, at least for something the size of an MT. You feel the inertia a lot more

After getting my intro with AC6, I'm going back to play the older titles and man, after beating FA and trying VD for the first time, I REALLY miss my NEXT. I wouldn't call the game bad, I'm just finding it hard to get into it. Definitely want to take another crack at it to see actual boss fights though, most of the bosses in FA and Nexus (the other two old-gens I've played so far) were a letdown.

One of the things I loved about this battle is the fact where face off again the same mech we use to pilot in a for answer, which these mechs were nasty things to face off against, hell we piloted one and our AC was deadly. This new model strong does not have the same power output or damage the older ac use to have an yet we took it down with timing and hell of an upgrade.

I wanna say before you start scan mode was added to 5 and verdict day gameplay and the reason he does initiate it is because it increases energy regeneration but prevents weapon usage

I want to give this mission another shot some day. I only made it through by getting tank legs, the heaviest parts, dual heavy machine guns, and a massive bill for ammo and repair costs.

I feel dumb that I only just clocked onto that you're basically fighting against an AC4 NEXT in this mission what with its look and size, extreme mobility, flight and assault armor attack.
I believe its also just a reverse-engineered NEXT, so its probably not fighting at its full potential.
We're also fighting a clone of our dead friend.
@@Razgriz_01 Doesn't matter how powerful it is. Remember, the pilot in VD is an unaugmented baseline human in a 5-metre-tall AC against an 11-metre-tall NEXT piloted by a genetically enhanced clone of Joshua who has all of his skills and knowledge from the UNACs.

5th gen AC's aren't piles of scrap. The C03 Malicious's the Lone Mercenary piloted are all made of completely new parts.
Not to mention he canonically counterpicked J.
Compared to the NEXT it's a pile of scrap, the point is more so it's not nearly as strong, they are new parts but I believe compared to even third or second gen AC’s the fifth games AC’s are worse (cough cough, energy at 30%)
