Great job as always, Alison! One thing this video really made me think about was the way that online media that attempts to replicate the aesthetics and feel of early home computing and the nascent internet tends to put a lot of emphasis on the visual component rather than the audio. Like in websites, vaporwave covers, or YTPMVs trying to look "retro", there's a lot of expense spared to make sure things are authentically low-tech and primitive by modern standards. However, the actual music or audio components of those places tend to be unreflective of that time period, being made with more modern sound design. In this video, and the Atariwindows video for instance, the video itself is very nostalgic of early internet aesthetics, but the audio itself feels very clean. I wonder why that is. I suppose the obvious answer would be that the crusty audio and rough pitch-shifting of yesteryear isn't as nice to listen to, but I guess you could also argue that was part of the "aesthetic" as well, and something is missing but leaving it out. Anyway uhh remember to title and save your paint project or else you might lose it
love the audio and visuals on this!
It's so good I'm glad you made it public 🔥
