  • What is SEPSIS and SEPTIC SHOCK ? The Body's Deadly response to Infection. Sepsis - Cause. Treatment, Symptoms.
Sepsis is a severe medical condition that occurs when the body's response to infection becomes dysregulated, leading to widespread inflammation throughout the body. It is a life-threatening condition that requires immediate medical attention.
Septic shock, on the other hand, is a complication of sepsis that occurs when the body's response to infection is so severe that it leads to a decrease in blood pressure, depriving vital organs of oxygen and nutrients. This can result in organ failure and death if not promptly treated.
The symptoms of sepsis and septic shock can vary, but commonly include fever, rapid heart rate, rapid breathing, confusion, and decreased urine output. In some cases, individuals may also experience low blood pressure, skin rash, and abnormal blood clotting.
The causes of sepsis and septic shock can be attributed to various types of infections, such as bacterial, viral, or fungal infections. Common sources of infection include pneumonia, urinary tract infections, abdominal infections, and skin infections.
Early recognition and prompt treatment are crucial in managing sepsis and septic shock. Treatment typically involves administration of antibiotics to target the underlying infection, intravenous fluids to maintain blood pressure, and in some cases, vasopressor medications to further support blood pressure. Other interventions may include oxygen therapy, mechanical ventilation, and surgery to drain infected organs or tissues.Prevention of sepsis and septic shock involves practicing good hygiene, such as regular handwashing, and ensuring appropriate management of any underlying medical conditions that may increase the risk of infection. It is also important to promptly seek medical attention for any signs or symptoms of infection to prevent the progression to sepsis.
In conclusion, sepsis and septic shock are serious medical conditions that require immediate medical attention. Being aware of the symptoms, seeking prompt medical care, and practicing good hygiene can help prevent and manage these life-threatening conditions.

I developed sepsis from a UTI. Because of my age I did not have the symptoms of a urinary tract infection. Instead I thought I had the flu..ran fever starting at 99 to 104 on the 6th day. My speech was garbled even tho I thought I was speaking normal. My dtr called the emergency hospital and they came to my house and took me to the hospital. I was there 3 days..they treated me with IV antibiotics. Another few days and I would have died. Btw I was 85 at the time.

Depends on each situation and how sick the person is. Shock is almost always death.

Pay attention to pinching pain in joints. Overall body pain. Dirty wet dog smell. Dropping blood pressure. Pain in neck or head. Mental difficulties. Bloating. Rapid pulse and shortness of breath is not always present.
Stay away from all junk food and bad greasy restaurant food.
Stay calm. Stress is not good.

I lost my mom in October 2023 from sepsis as it caused her organs to start failing ; she was on life support but unfortunately she lost her battle with sepsis . I’m a big advocate; . She went downhill rather quickly; I lost someone I could never get back . They tried doing Kidney dialysis on her to try and clean her blood of the toxins but it was too late.

I am so sorry for your loss. Sepsis moves and kills quickly. You need a Doctor who is also a good detective because symptoms can be vague. Septic shock is no joke.

My mom passed away from septic shock just a few days ago, and all the things they listed as causes my mom had every.single.one. She had 6 months ago undergone a aggressive chemo for a rare and aggressive form of lymphoma, she was diabetic and recently had her toes amputated for complications from diabetes. The doctor told me that her foot was severely infected to the point that it had made her bones infected. She never showed me the wound from her amputation and probably because she knew I would’ve forced her to go to the emergency room. I feel awful, like I failed her. When my dad died last year I was desperately worried that she would soon follow. They had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. I’m sick with the pain of losing them.
