Suddenly,... 4 years later.....Great vid. I just found a horn similar to the one in the video ....for $5 at the flea market. The 1/2" tube fits snugly and it works. For testing, I just took the wires off the speaker of my Honeytone mini-amp and connected it to the driver. Thanks, man!

I had a Jim Bean Voice Box back in the 70's.
Now I'm playing in a covers band we added "Show me the Way" into the set and I rued the day I sold it. So I'm off down my mates workshop to see what second hand amps he has, I'll try and get a driver off him too. I like your concept a whole lot more than the Voice box I had, where you had to run a speaker lead to the box and a return to the amp. Great stuff!!

I really love your stuff. Your solution for Db-25 is going to save me a lot of carrying my 8 channel, 15 mtr multikabel.I have a old Korg DRM-1 with those 6-sided 'simmons' pads.
At that time I unscrewed them and what wonder....., simple piezo's glued to the multiplex board. If I knew then what I see now on your video, it would have saved me also many times of dirty hands. Your design for the talk back is going to boost the sound of my fretless
Bassgitar. Really nice work, love it

    Beautiful Tutorial and Build!
I built on of these out of a cheap Marshall 10 watt practice amp and an Eminence Horn Driver, but I then made my Talkbox 'modular', by making jacks for the I/O, so it could work for any amp with Speaker out.
As an after thought, I used it in my 8th grade science project about sound! The teacher said that the Talkbox was a really creative addition, and gave me an 100%! :D
Anyways, nice tutorial, and it would've been a great help if it was made before I made mine!

Awesome video. I cudda used this about 2 years ago when I also tried tobuild a talk box. I'll have to show you what I built. IT is VERY similar to yours. I also used a small amp, Horn Driver. Except I actually bought a brand new driver for about 50 bucks. Mine works the same exact way. I also added a footswitch to bypass the talk box and run direct to my big amp. Aswesome vid!

I plan to use this method to create a talk box for my band but I think I'm going to add some barbed hose adapters laced into each other on the amp wall between the internal tubing... and the active or "up to the microphone" tubing to make for a firmer seal... I figure that way my guitarist will be able to cap the barbed piece sticking out with a barbcap to keep dust/dirt out for transporting... do you notice, on yours, does much sound escape where your tubes slid together?

Great video and explanation. I just pieced together my talkbox today and have a few questions. When I plug the end of the tube with my thumb, should I be able to hear sound coming from the driver? Perhaps I do not have a good enough seal. Does it need to be absolutely airtight?
Also, I know I am brand new at this, but I expected to get clearer wording coming out, but like your video, I couldn't get understandable words; have you found tips for this?
    Thanks Again : )

Great project. I like it because this project avoid to use a by pass switch and a power supply to feed the system. I´m trying to make a similar talk box project, using a 3 watts speaker on place a horn driver (I dont has one available), connecting it in parallel with a 20 watts speaker of my little amplifier. I think that a resistor is needed to reduce the signal for do not damage the 3 watts speaker (calculating a 20 Ohms resistor). Do You think that it can work well?

I built one if these years ago using an older peavey rage 158, I did the same thing with the switch thinking it would be awesome to have a spare practice amp. how ever I've been thinking out the bypass switching to kick it back to regular guitar lol.. I bought a danelectro self contained inline talk box, all I got from it was a bunch of feedback so I sold it and build one of these which are way better sounding
