Am so sorry I missed the live stream of this. I enjoyed watching and listening as you went over each album discussing the highlights and differences. I also am OCD with the music and how it is imported into iTunes, especially Madonna's music. I have been a fan since I was 6 and for Like a Virgin as a cassette, but was solidified as an eternal fan with Ray of Light, which made me go back and get all her albums and listen, and see how she grew as an artist. Ray of Light is my fave, with Erotica and Music tied for second, and Bedtime Stories third. I just love how her sound evolved over time.
I bought Madonna’s first album in 1983 and I have never noticed that black edge on the top of the photo in nearly 40 years. Well done for pin pointing it!!
'Confession' is everything! One of her best albums, imv. Also, I think there was a lot about Guy Ritchie in that album to: Hung Up, Sorry, Push, and especially Jump. I could be wrong but when I heard the lyrics to Jump it screamed "I'm getting ready to bolt from this marriage and I ain't looking back!" "How High" is another interesting song about her career and life at that juncture. When the album MDNA came around, the anger and bitterness expressed about her marriage and divorce was not surprising.
Even if your seat for the first Chicago night is really good, the show seems designed to be good from any spot! I saw it twice, first time from the back and the second closer to the stage at the side. Hope you enjoy 😊
Mark Kamins, who produced Everybody, has said that he was disappointed with the original version. It was his first time producing a song, and he felt that the final product lacked "oomph" (I'm paraphrasing). However, he got the opportunity to remix it for You Can Dance, by which stage he'd had enough experience to make it sound the way it was supposed to. That's the version that appears on Finally Enough Love, and it is also my preferred version, by far! Re: Into the Groove, the versions on Immaculate Collection and 50 #1s are different edits of the full length remix on You Can Dance, and I TOTALLY hear you regarding the "Now I know you're mine" section being cut from the bridge on the IC version...the guys who mixed IC obviously didn't realise how iconic that moment is 😡 I'm also ocd with my mp3 library; I use the "comments" tab in the mp3 tag to include info like remastering, live versions, etc.
What!?!?! You’ve never heard “Supernatural” the B-Side to Cherish? It’s Amazing, Raw, original, Silly and Spooky all at the same time!! It easily falls in my to 20 Madonna songs ever!!
I really enjoyed this Sal! I think that you're picks would be a lot different if you were around or at the listening age for some of her releases like Bedtime Stories and Ray of Light. Confessions on a Dance Floor is the top one for me. It blew everybody out of the water. Erotica for me is always like meh? Her and Michael had alot of critiscm for their antics. Like A Prayer the album is my least favorite overall. I enjoy True Blue, Madam X, and Ray of Light are her best. Like A Virgin and MDNA had to grow on me. American Life was a total flop for me. I really like Lady Gaga. I felt like she was something that Madonna was missing around that time. This was good!
How could anyone not care for Desperately Seeking Susan though? It’s classic 80’s. Barbra’s best films are Funny Girl, The Way We Were, The Owl And The Pussycat, Whats Up Doc, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, The Main Event and Yentl. For Pete’s Sake is a bad film but I absolutely love it. The Prince of Tides and Nuts are too heavy and The Mirror Has Two Faces is not her best but it’s cute. Madonna’s best is Swept Away (controversial opinion but I stand by it). True Blue is hands down Madonna’s worst song in that album are you serious about it being the best song?? Open Your Heart is the best on that album. So interesting to hear young perspectives. Nice video.
Bedtime stories and erotica are my favourites, true blue is amazing so is madame x, you have an album for every mood you want. Music is also pretty slay. Confessions seems like her most party album and it’s diverse and very dramatic, her debut album is annoying in my opinion crimes of passion should have been on the album. Like a virgin was ok, I really like angel. Dick Tracy I only really know vogue, like a prayer, I love til death do us part erotica was monumental and so was bedtime stories she really just ate with all the looks during that era. Evita I never watched the movie, I have the cd and never listened to it lol 😂
When Disco died (late 70s), the airwaves were bereft of good dance music. It wasn't until MJ's 'Off the Wall' and Madonna's first album of the same name that dance music was revived for the 80s -- and that was something, at the time! I think her first album is one of her best, imv.
I managed to get a copy of the SEX book, and it had the CD in it with Erotic. I love that version of the song, because you know, she's now a witch, she's a love technician.
"Everybody" on "Finally Enough Love" is just an edit of the long "You Can Dance" album version. So since you own this remix album this spiced up version couldn't be new to you 😉
I wasn't familiar with the remix of "Everybody" on _Finally Enough Love_ but I went to check it out and... I'm surprised you didn't feel it was too noisy and clangy. So overproduced that Stock Aitken Waterman would probably say "that's too much." (Not that I don't love their best work for Rick Astley, Bananarama, and Kylie. I do.) I do agree on _Like a Virgin_ being the least interesting 80's album but... Those _Immaculate Collection_ remixes can all go right into the garbage. None of them are anywhere near as good - let alone better - than the album versions. Again, I am not sure what sort of person could feel that way. Perhaps, honestly, someone with a fax machine head and photo copier eyes...
Living for the Lady Gaga slander. Ha. I do like a lot of her early songs but she’s wildly overrated, on every level. She has a middle school talent show voice, her piano playing is basic, she can’t dance, and she’s the same character in every film she’s been in, down to the exact same pretentious accent. And they only gave her an Oscar because she was crying on every red carpet for it with her woe-is-me pity party stories. The Oscars and The Grammys are suckers fit butt-kissers. But aaanyway, in defense of Music, I remember her saying she needed something lite and fun after the heaviness of Ray of Light and all the projects leading up it the years prior. It’s my favorite Madonna album, along with Bedtime Stories. Will you be doing a blog for the Madonna show you attend? Also, Madonna shows should be experienced from different angles. So don’t be afraid of getting less than stellar seats the second time you see it. You might see something you missed the first show.
True Blue came before Who's That Girl and You Can Dance 😉

I’ll be seeing Madonna next Friday at the United Center. Very exciting. I’ve seen every Madonna tour stop in Chicago since the Virgin Tour in 1985!
Completely agree with you about how good “Everybody” sounds on the Finally Enough Love - 50 No 1s album
Hey Sal… saw the show in Philly. You’re going to ❤. Love the channel 😊
Don't worry about loving MDNA. I'm glad to find someone like you that loves the album as well.💙

I LOVE that you love Rebel Heart. It's Holy trinity of M albums for me. Love. It!!!

I saw Madonna last night on Cleveland. Bad Girl is and always has been one of my favorite songs.
Justify my Love was a killer video. I'll never forget seeing it for the first time
Her first three albums and ray of light are my favourites them four

American Pie ist one of her best songs and I love Britney Jean too ❤
Hard Candy deserves more love !!!

@@moonstone1159yes it’s great but I’ve never really fully vibed with any of the album tracks just the singles were fire
Hard Candy was produced by Timbaland, Kanye co-produced some of Rebel Heart only

Pls! We need your Hilary Duff collection review ;) 🧡

It's not controversial to say "Like A Virgin" is overrated. Many fans agree that the first two hits are too over played.
Like a Virgin is still a serve, but Material Girl is more cubic zirconia than a diamond.
