Hey Bethany I have cmt and I had surgeries called Jones procedure and a triple arthrodesis and fractured my 2nd metatarsal on my left foot and a stress fracture on my right foot. I think on one of your old videos and you said you had surgeries. Are they similar?

Hi Jesus! So I've had tendon transfers (post. tib and flexor digitorum longus), osteotomies (calcaneal and 1st metatarsal), plantar fascia release, tarsal tunnel release, and ligament repairs. What I was told is if these surgeries fail for me (here's hoping they don't!), then we will probably try a triple arthodesis which fuses the joints in the hindfoot (providing stability, at a cost of foot mobility).
So it sounds like we've had different procedures - with maybe a little overlap - but ultimately trying to achieve the same outcomes!

I always thought you had to go to a podiatrist before you go to an orthotist.

Not in my experience! I've actually never been to a podiatrist, but my neurologists have referred me to several orthotists over the years :-)

How old was your dad when he found out he had CMT ?

He suspected in his 20s but wasn't semi-formally diagnosed until his 40s!

      What I can see only
He doesn't really look like he has anything wrong with his legs
But only what I could see never saw him walk
