I always saw the Hiss as more of a mobile watch tower, it gets to a location quickly sets up and acts a (light 30mm rapid gun position). The huge window highlights it's duties as a platform for observation not protection. Let's face it Cobra is technically a terrorist organisation not a "standing army" so they are about rapid hit and fade not pitched battles. when they realised they needed to go into toe-to-toe battles that was where the heavier Hiss II came out. Destro contacted the newly ordained Cobra Commander with the following Proposal "I hear you have money? I like money and make weapons, we should trade". The Black Marshal (Yes he gave himself a promotion in Ironbloods absence) ended up finding Jackal and playing up his 'close apperance' to do a Major Bludd style impersonation several times.
A TH-cam Channel named "Mad Hatter Reviews" wants to make a parody Septic Tank called the "P.I.S.S. Tank." He also had a past joint kickstarter with Ramen Toys, so he might attempt this as another kickstarter. I would love if your crew interviewed him (and possibly Ramen Toys) as a means to get more Joe Fans interested in this and to give him and Ramen Toys more initiative to pull the trigger on this project they are undecided on atm.
I think it would work best as an IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle) and not a tank. It has armament too light to engage tanks consistently, and is too big (tall) and too lightly armored for field combat, but using that big backside as a troop compartment and providing fire support to a squad of Vipers is perfect for them.
They should have given a sticker sheet with an option for multiple number combinations for army building. They would have sold much more than they did.

@@gijoburg I have all four of the original decal variations for the Hiss tank. White, red and white outline and red outline. I originally thought there was only three variations on the original 788 decal and then I found a fourth one.
In my head canon the HISS are just lwftover Red Shadows gear that Destro had sitting around. Rather than keep sitting on it he sold them to Cobra. (Red Shadows and Cobra are different in my head canon)
I've always felt that his tank was built for use by a private security or police force. Which instead sold to Cobra. With the tank label slapped on to fool Cobra Commander. Who doesn't know anything about military hardware. Then there is an advance to calling the Hiss Tank a tank. Especially when you say you have thousands of tanks. The general public and gullible media will believe. As you control the information and that is what Cobra is controlling everything. Then you got to think the Hiss must be easy to drive. So training a crew takes no time. Plus on top of that the Hiss would be easy to manufacture. With parts made by vehicle manufacturers. Then put together at secret sites worldwide. With that they could have thousands ready to use. While a G.I. Joe MBT and crew would take longer. So Cobra would win hands down. Except there is infighting, bad leadership and nearly everyone has their own personal forces. While the Joes are one and with a chain of command.
Fun fact, an APC with a heavy weapon is called an IFV (Infantry fighting vehicle)

I have been making Hiss APC’s from incomplete hiss tanks that I have been getting off eBay for like 10 or 15 bucks. I would share pics if I could.

HISS is so cool, always thought the front looks like a Delorean.
