Quick Kick was certainly a character I wasn’t super keen on growing up. But interesting you brought up joe on vhs and I had few of the Golden Company vhs with a single episode and a few ads at the end and of joes vhs I had was called Laser Lash which was the episode lasers in the night and it focused on Quick Kick and girl he was dating named Amber. It’s one of those episodes kind of a special spot in my memory as I watched the vhs a lot I know, at this stage in my life when issue 52 came out I was buying the comics at my local newsagent. I don’t have a strong memory attached to this issue when I picked it up. Like Steve I do have a connection to that beautiful, cobra transport helicopter and if there was a haslab I would slam down my wallet and say take what you need and give me all the unlocks and I would make a special place for in my collection. Anyway, chasing joe has become a weekly watch for me as I eat my dinner. That whole intro is so awesome and I really look forward to find out what issue you’re going to get next and hearing about your memories attached to the comic is such a wonderful idea for show. Keep up the beautiful work and I look forward to seeing the next one and if you’re wondering, I’m having pasta tonight anyway stay safe and thank you for making a great show Yojoe!
Sigh. The Cobra transport helicopter **needs** to be made in 100% classic ARAH style, with a Rotor Viper. As for the issue, definitely one of the covers that really grabbed me when I first discovered the comic many years after this issue was on the spinner rack. That back cover ad was the absolute embodiment of "rad." And, agreed: Early Marvel Serpy was actually really good. And Mindy describing the Air Chariot as a "gravity sled" gets the wheels (within wheels) of my head canon imagination spinning. Ben, you bring up an excellent point: The "Whigham Era," as I think of it, really is the pinnacle of ARAH. Basically from the SE origin in 26-27 through the Civil War. Of course, there are great issues and arcs before and after (21, the Venom/Kwinn/Sierra Gordo arc, etc.) but this is that 20-30 issue, 2-3 year run you were referring to.
Fantastic issue! Cover and content setting up a great section of the story to come! Thank you guys! Special Missions was a very good line on its own merit even!
