i went to a hunting/fishing store and they had a ton of huge shiny taxidermy fish on the walls .. i thought they had to just be models because i had no idea how a fish could be effectively preserved like that. this is a good video you are funny and a good teacher👍
Those were most likely replicas, replicas are no different from taxidermy other then they don’t use the parts of the animal. They have all the measurements, aswell as they last so much linger
That was real well done video to show how to taxidermy as fish. Never new there was so much to it. Just herd it cost a lot to have done. Now I see why. Well done showing the process and leaving in the small mistakes I think was great it made so if someone wants to try what to look out for and how to fix it. Thanks for this great video I know it took a long time to do.well done be blessed.
I hate the Internet because I’ll say something out loud like I wanna do fish taxidermy, and then I get this video recommended to me. It’s not that it’s a bad video and I really like the video. It’s just the fact that these corporations are doing creepy shit like that that pisses me off.
Awesome job dude. My buddy and I are gonna go into the business and we thought this was really good for onlyo your second or third time. Good job brother!
I caught a 23.2 inch, 5 lb 8 oz spotted bass earlier today, less than a pound from the NC state record. If all goes well I will send pics when it is staged and finished.@@TheFishinMagician20
This was god honestly one of the best and funniest videos I’ve watched in awhile, definitely need to make more taxidermy content and if you every need any tips or tricks from someone who’s been doing it for a few years feel free to ask
My 19 years old fish died today he is turning 20 this coming november. I'm here to learn how to do taxidermy. I wanna keep him forever ☹️ May I know how to do the solution? Is it 50% alcohol, 50% water and what was the other one? Sorry english is not my first language.
Couldn’t you carefully use spray expanding foam and cut down the time and trouble? Especially for curving them into shape. Maybe some low expansion foam.
@@TheFishinMagician20 to be fair me neither! But hey worth a shot I suppose. I think you could pretty much sow up the whole fish and leave just enough room for the straw (like inflating a balloon). Once you fill it let it fill the crevices. If you overshoot you can squeeze and form the fish up and the excess could come out the open hole you have. I also think it would be a much more natural look since it would fill all the cavities that is made when carving that traditional foam won’t hit. Of course once it starts to set you can make final touches and then viola! I’d like to see a video of you trying it out. It could become the new best thing.
No that’s extremely illegal fish aren’t like humans or other animals they will still twitch for few hours to a day after dying it’s similar to the reaction of salt on from legs
I did my personal best speckled trout same way as in video and it was 31 inches and 14lbs close to state record at the time I was 1/2 inch off which suckedbut she is still a monster pier caught spec. Trout
And I also have done some monster blue gill and same nice bass to make this monster wall mounted scenery for my wall in my office. It has a massive piece of drift wood log and then I got some massive blue gill and bass arohbd it qith some other decor like rocks and faje grass bed to make a cool ubderwater looking scene of a bluegill/bull bream bed with 3 monster bass hunting them down for food
So I've gotta try this my man! First question so that my family won't run me off. At what point in the process does the smell leave? Thanks again this is gonna be fun I hope
Great video! I'm curious though, to taxidermy a fish, does it have to be alive? My wife is just starting to get into taxidermy and has no problem dealing with dead animals but she may not be able to do fish if its still moving lol
people who started taxiderming fishes in the 1800s must have been BORED as hell to spend their whole day doing this lol little bluegill took you like a few hours i cant imagine those big marlins they have on museums
Blue gill meat wouldn’t be great and not a lot there I don’t know if he would have used it probably through it out but with other fish could most likely eat

You have a natural talent for this. You've encouraged me to try this. I live on a lake that has bluegills over 11 inches long. Thanks!
That's awesome! Good luck with the taxidermy.
I have watched this so many times and I think I am ready tomorrow morning I am going to try my first blue gill taxidermy and I am 12
Awesome! Let me know how it turns out!
@@TheFishinMagician20 we didn’t catch them this time

Same thing with ads 😂
They're listening... 👀👂
great video! i was always curious about this...
This was fun to watch! Reminded me of myself when i first started mounting my own fish.
Awesome video man thanks for making it simple and fun!!
This is amazing, I love the new content. Keeps things interesting.
Thanks 🙏🏼 🎣 Trying to keep it fresh
7:11 I wouldn't have sanded it any more, you did a perfect job

Glad I could help! it is a ton of work but so much fun

I instantly recognized Phoenix, the canals are iconic
10:20 i see that custom holster what you got in it? and do you carry when you go fishing ?
Thanks for sharing, can't wait to try this!
No problem! Good luck
I can smell this video. 😂
Not bad taxidermy work for no more times than you've done it. I've done 3 fish myself. Like anything you get better at it the more times you do it. 👍
I appreciate it man. I’ve definitely learned something from each one lol
This was god honestly one of the best and funniest videos I’ve watched in awhile, definitely need to make more taxidermy content and if you every need any tips or tricks from someone who’s been doing it for a few years feel free to ask
I’m glad you feel that way! It was very fun to make. Taxidermy is tricky, I need to do another fish 🎣
Great video, underrated channel
My man thank you. 👍🏼🎣
How did you stick it on the wood
Nice work thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Cheers!
Haha!! Way to go!👍
Not too shabby..
Thanks 👍
Do you think I could use acrylic paint instead?
Hey man are these okay to keep indoors? really want to try this out are they smelly at all?
what can i use instead of denatured alcohol ?
He'll yea bro..So quick to catch them....
I try man!

This was a great video, interesting how it's done, and they turned out pretty good
Thank you! 🤘🏼
That is neat
A hot wire cutter would help a lot with cutting of the foam.
Awesome work, I’d love to get into it myself do you have a list of everything you’d need for it?
Thanks! I do not off the top of my head, but the channel “beginner taxidermy” has a video listing all required items
@@TheFishinMagician20 awesome thankyou sir much appreciated
how did you seal the fish after the clay? You went straight to the painting..
Fish sealer
please do a video where you tighten the post on the stand.
great job!!
That was awesome brother,I got 2 3 pounders bass in the solution waiting 🤗🤗hopefully they turn out great
Awesome
Man! It’s a fun little experiment. I’m sure they’ll turn out great
Hey brother question…when you take them out of the solution you rinse them with water or just direct to the foam?? Thanks
@@jenrizar660 rinse them off
Ok thanks for replying so fast I’m doing it right now 😅😅
Couldn’t you carefully use spray expanding foam and cut down the time and trouble? Especially for curving them into shape. Maybe some low expansion foam.
I had actually never heard of this before, cuz this was only my 3rd time trying. I wanted to practice the traditional way

You kept them alive?

Its called the portmortal response humans and all other animals do it but its just alot less.

Heck yea it’s fun! The smell leaves I’d say after the soak in the solution. It smells more like grass after that instead of fish lol
What did you do with the meat? Would or can it still be edible?
I tossed mine but yes you can do whatever with it. It’s just in chunks
Very impressive. 👍
Thanks 🙏🏼
Kill the fish first 😭
Wat canal is this?
The other fish watched his homie get stuffed 😂
I’d love to taxidermy my local fish, but I’m REALY bad at fishing lol
Use tacky glue for the fins much easier
Great video! I'm curious though, to taxidermy a fish, does it have to be alive? My wife is just starting to get into taxidermy and has no problem dealing with dead animals but she may not be able to do fish if its still moving lol
U cant taxidermy an alive animal that would be very illegal .As long the animals skin is intact and not old or rotting u could tacidermy anything
It was moving because muscle spasms still happen after death. It wasnt alive
You should put the supplies in the description or comments🙏
There is a video out there with em! It’s by the channel beginner taxidermy

@@TheFishinMagician20 LMBO 🤣
AT LEAST PUT THE THING OUT OF ITS MISERY.
Shhhh nerd
“Mounting” not Taxidemying
The fish themselves were taxidermied. They were then mounted after. Taxidermy by definition is the removal of the skin and preservation of the fish
@@TheFishinMagician20 gotcha I have three taxidermist in my family including my dad.
Waahoo
Smaller fish are harder to shin and paint in my opinion. Lol. Good vidio🙂
I agree so far. Only done 3 and smallest was the toughest
It's called MOUNTING not taxiderming ?!?!
Who cares 🤣
What did you do with the meat? Would it or could it be still edible?
Yeah I’m curious too
