I think there are many reasons why they wanted to end like this. Basically, they want the audience decides, and that they don't want to offend anyone. Because he got into his fighting routine automatically and was like trying to push him to a corner and KO him. He said if he duct half a second lesser he would be KO by him. The fist was just like 1 cm from his head and the hair on his head was ruffled by the gust of wind he bring with his big fist. The whole crew was like "Wahhhh!"

The director and co-staffs of the movie were worried about that how huge Mike is against Donny(ip-man) and Donny would end up get hurt if something happened wrong.... But what happened... Donny end up broke one of Mike's finger in the process... You will noticed it in the scene when Donny saves Mike's punches with his elbow... You will find Mike's right hand small finger a little bit awkward posing than the other finger...

this fight is one of those times you wish Bruce was still around as that would be an epic visual delight along with Michael Duncan as he would of loved going toe to toe with all 3 of them. its a fight of the titans where the clock leaves it up to the imagination as both deserve to win.
Final Buster Not really. Like one of Donnie’s lines in the first film, “The problem is not northern or southern style. The problem is you.” If you can’t apply what you know in a fight, of course you will lose. Kung Fu has it’s strengths and weaknesses, same as boxing. Every martial art has them. Since Donnie is more than capable of handling his own ass (Read where Donnie beat up 8 people), I think it would be a draw.

Iron Mike did it as honour to Sifu Grandmaster Ip Man, this is because he went for Michael Jai saying he could beat Lee due to weight difference, he forgot bulk slows you down, tendon strength is the most powerful in the body with Adrenaline. Mike has said like Connor McGregor that Bruce Lee Philosophy was right and Bruce was the only mn who could beat him easily. Mike had a 350 lb heavy bag he trained with, Bruce had the same weight but a new bag full of sand and metal shrapnel. Huge strength difference. For Mike to match he needs sand and metal shrapnel bags and he would probably need to punch some 500 lb bag or something.

This fight Ip Man (Donnie Yen) actually lost because he decided to try and kick Mike in the groin and so everyone knows that it is considered as a cheap shot and Mike went for the upper cut. Mike won by default. *My Opinion*

The director and co-staffs of the movie were worried about that how huge Mike is against Donny(ip-man) and Donny would end up get hurt if something happened wrong....
But what happened... Donny end up broke one of Mike's finger in the process...
You will noticed it in the scene when Donny saves Mike's punches with his elbow... You will find Mike's right hand small finger a little bit awkward posing than the other finger...

The problem is you.” If you can’t apply what you know in a fight, of course you will lose. Kung Fu has it’s strengths and weaknesses, same as boxing. Every martial art has them. Since Donnie is more than capable of handling his own ass (Read where Donnie beat up 8 people), I think it would be a draw.

Mike has said like Connor McGregor that Bruce Lee Philosophy was right and Bruce was the only mn who could beat him easily. Mike had a 350 lb heavy bag he trained with, Bruce had the same weight but a new bag full of sand and metal shrapnel. Huge strength difference. For Mike to match he needs sand and metal shrapnel bags and he would probably need to punch some 500 lb bag or something.
