    I appreciate this video. I’m a certified EMT Basic but I wanted to advance so I was researching and looking into surgical techs. This definitely is helping me make the right decision since I’m 22.

    Thank you for this video. I am a physical therapy aide and have been for many years now so it has been repetitive. I was looking into a physical therapy assistant program but the program near me is a 2 year waitlist. A surgical technician career sounds very interesting and I do like to stay busy even though it can be stressful at times. I will definitely research more about this field.

    Beautiful conversation! It was really a pleasure listening to y’all steam it out in the OR 😅. I was watching a medical residency vlog and heard “scrub tech” and hadn’t heard of it before. So I started looking up day in the life videos to see what it’s like. I was surprised and delighted by how not just “informative” but down-to-earth this perspective was. It felt like sitting down listening to co-workers and people I’d like to work with (y’all)😊. Been thinking about medical school but opportunity cost is so high... I love to write and learn and get bored easily too... so it was really cool to see this option, whether I pursue it further or not. If anything, it helps me gain a better understanding of the various roles in the OR. If I had to choose from what I’ve heard ortho sounds very interesting. A part 2 would be nice. Walking through a procedure. Also interested in a video that contrasts what is learned in the classroom with the reality of what happens in a real OR setting. What where 3 things that surprised you in the OR? Heard for example the smells, maybe talk about that too...?

    Quick question. The hospital that I work for has an in-house Surgical Tech program which is about 11 months long. What’s the difference with getting my experience in-house vs a community college? The program is not accredited but we do sit for our boards at completion. Will I be able to take the exam through NBST or am I wasting my time going this route?

    • @LifeWithSheree
      @LifeWithSheree  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey! If it’s not accredited then I’m not quite sure what exam you’ll be taking. Just find out if that certificate will be useful else where. Also does the program offer the didactic portion? That’s important to know as well.

    • @raxanenglish7439
      @raxanenglish7439 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LifeWithSheree at the completion of the program we will sit for the NCCT exam. The program is run by the University of Vermont Medical which is a trauma 1 teaching facility. Everything is done in-house

    • @raxanenglish7439
      @raxanenglish7439 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LifeWithSheree I also texted my recruiter and she stated this:
      Hey there. NCCT or NBSTSA are acceptable certifications. Only NBSTSA is accepted/required by these states: Idaho, Indiana, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. Additionally, these states require surgical techs to be registered with the state (basically their respective surg tech state license): Colorado, Virginia, North Dakota, and Washington.

      National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). you can only take that test after completing an accredited program.
      NCCT is National Center for Competency Testing where you can take the test if youve been to a ncct accredited school, or form from employer that states you are qualified by experience
