Son...yes, this is Shane's dad, you should be very proud of what you have created here! This is more than just educational videos, you have changed lives with the compassionate understanding of your subject matter, and your gift of being able to make complex situations understandable to people. What you've done here is much more than just Surgical Tech Tips. Shane, you've created a legacy that will live on for future generations of CST's, FA's and more medical professionals than you realize. Andrea's comment earlier is also a testimonial as well for patients going through medical procedures themselves who are searching for a better understanding, comfort, and peace of mind during anxious and unnerving times before undergoing procedures themselves...WOW! ♥️

Thank you for doing all those videos in your past. I was getting major anxiety waiting for T5-L5 fusion with 20% chance of death due to blood loss. I found your channel on my sleepless nights. Your clear & simple explanations of many of the roles and procedures in the OR (OR prep, instrument prep & cleaning, and patient positioning) helped me prepare mentally for the day. I'm now 13 days post-op, and had sutures out this morning. There were complications turning an expected 8 hours turned into 13 due to complications. Knowing that people in the OR were gonna be like you with the utmost professionalism and care, I was able to put my life in their hands. These should be required watching for pre-surgical patients. From surgical tech/ neuro surg first assist, to full-stack programmer student at hack reactor, my path has been quite the adventure. While I do miss the OR, I believe in challenging myself to reach my true potential. Fun fact: I helped build preference cards into the database using Centricity. Looking back, I learned so much during my time in the OR, even taking on roles beyond my usual scope of practice; my attending did not belive in residents...
Working in a hospital is more than just a job; it's a calling. It's not about the money, but the passion for what we do. No amount of overtime can fully compensate for the stress and dedication we put in as surgical techs.
To all the future techs out there, embrace this experience and always keep growing. Scrubs are so underrated, and are a key component of the OR. My goal is to return to school and finish my MD degree, and this journey has been incredibly rewarding and provided really good insight into my future plans in medicine.
Transitioning to the full-stack role has been quite a contrast. I feel like my brain has shifted its neural pathways to learn this new logic. Remote work is a change from the early mornings and late hours in the OR, but it's a new challenge I'm embracing. No more emergency lap appys that bump everyone in the board and could have waited another 24 hours, or 4 level lamys with fusion =/ good ol days.
Our career paths may have similarities, and I'm inspired by your journey. Here's to chasing our dreams and staying true to our aspirations. Cheers!

I also wanted something more challenging than just general surgery so I joined the cardiac team at my local children's hospital, repairing congenital defects. It's such a specific speciality it's really testing my abilities. Just subscribed to incision on TH-cam due to your new found position and recommendation for this company. I will be working my way through the videos and look forward to seeing you again soon on one of your great videos. All your content is appreciated by the worldwide medical community. Keep uploading videos and best wishes with your new position making the operating room better understood for many many professionals and patients alike.

I’m also a scrub tech in Northern California. Been scrubbing for 5 years and not to toot my own horn, I’m the goat. General, ortho, GYN, ENT, endoscopy, vascular, plastics, trauma. Love my career and will be involved with the OR for the rest of my life. However, I have a wife and child. Miss the time I spend with them because of the call situation. If you have any positions in something similar or a company you know of, I can leave you my email. I’m 28 years old. Very detail oriented. Very motivated. Love what you do and love what you are about.

Hi, I have subscribed you channel when I was a student and then I been a Scrub in neuro theatres and as Anaesthetic and Recovery nurse. All thanks to you mate for the videos, they helped a lot and gave me power to be in OR . I am also working currently as REsearch nurse and work from home. I can also understand the tough programme, as I have done MAsters in Data Science recently part time , it never looked like part time though, specially learning everything from scratch including coding, stats n what not .. Congratulations.. We will look forward when you start sharing your new journey may be on another channel(?) .. keep us updated..

I just found your channel. I’m trying to turn my life around at 26 being years out of school and wasting my life working minimum wage jobs and I’m willing to commit to surgical tech and turn my life around. Im scared because I barely graduated high school (2.1 GPA) your channel is very helpful to prepare for fall semester and I’m going to take these next 5 months to buy course on skillshare to update my skills and get ahead and watch your whole entire TH-cam channel. I’m sad I found your channel this late but I’ll subscribe and follow your journey and wish you the best wishes. Your helping a college dropout change his life around and we need more people like you !!

I started in the OR at 17 years old and I’m 55 now. Just got soooooo tired being behind the table and had mini burnouts every couple of years. I finally decided to move into Laser and just got hired as a Product Specialist for Urologic Holmium lasers. Looking forward to having the versatility of having a life outside of the OR and still having one foot in the door. Good luck to you sir in your new venture. I always had a passion for OR design and construction and would love to be a consultant along those lines one day. Again good luck!!
