This game is very well written, the quests have a great human touch to them all. I enjoyed the guy talking about how attached he became to holograms b/c they were his only connection to the past.
Except for the fuckin eyes. Why are they so weird? Mocap used eye tracking of some sort and it went haywire. Usually the eyes are directed by the Creative team.
Not going to lie, the bit with Vegas and Stanley Chen, who set it all to sleep was touching; knowing that the planet was doomed, and yet having faith that somehow, sometime, someone would come along, and make your hard work inspire the next generation is sad, yet hopeful. And the fact the Delvers all talked about doing essentially the same thing as the original founders did is also touching; she may be a wreck, people may not remember her purpose, but she'll be back as a tourist trap, and a place to gamble... Viva Los Vegas!
I've been binge watching this playthrough: I only watch "no commentary" because pretty much all commentary is ANNOYING, UNNECESSARY, UNINSPIRED, LAME, UNINTELLIGENT... The only game commentary (see Analysis) I watch was from "Joseph Anderson" but he no longer posts due to Witcher, Family, and Health reasons.... I'm really upset because he was the only person that could provide wonderful insight and analysis that was well thought out and poignant not just the impetuous dribble that Normal big name gamers usually spew the sounds and vocalizations they make are so grating on the ears that's why i usually only watch "no commentary" it saves me from countless frustration and irritation watching this play through is like watching an exciting adventure movie a "choose your own adventure" and it keeps me very busy

is it just me or did the animations get WAY better with the oseram delvers? The whole part with them had, what I think, the best visuals of the game, animation wise. The eyes especially. They seemed to actually look at aloy. Best cutscenes from writing to animation so far for me.
Way too many characters to animate for one person; it's a large team and individual team members differ in skill and dedication. Some will make their work just good enough to pass quality control, some will put all their talent and heart into it.
Cus it's an important cutscene. They did a lot of mocap work for this game with more advanced tech. No doubt that was one of the ones they prioritized.
I love how the people of this world look at the ruins of the Old World as treasures. They don't see the mistakes of the past the way Elisabet and the rest of the Zero Dawn team were hoping they would through APOLLO. They see ruins of a forgotten time, and forgotten relics that amaze the mind and astound the senses in ways they can't possibly understand. It means the Old World is a wonder to behold, not something to be forgotten, but as something to be remembered and honored. The way Morlund wants nothing more than to collect more holograms because they connect to his past is truly something special. And the way the Tenakth honor a hologram of a team of Operation Enduring Freedom as a sign of respect and lessons for the future, it not only signifies the very thing that Elisabet wanted, but it gives hope to a future that the Zero Dawn team may not have expected, but wanted more than anything. The Old World may be gone, and the New World may be divided amongst clans and tribes, but something new was created, and the human race was given a chance to start over. Also, I really like how the base becomes almost like a home away from home for Aloy and her friends. GAIA becomes a teacher for Aloy and her friends, and even teaches them about the Old World. Though, I'm not sure what people would do with this information seeing as how each tribe has grown to follow their own path rather than follow the ones that were originally designed by Zero Dawn. Again, this is why I believe Ted Faro was right to purge APOLLO, because Zo said it right, the Old Ones may have had knowledge, but they didn't have wisdom. And that's what the new world has, wisdom, but no knowledge, and you know what, I think that's better. Wisdom without knowledge means there's a chance to grow, and there's no arrogance or selfishness. Tenakth may be a tribe that respects strength, and rely of battle and blood to survive, but that doesn't mean they aren't wise. To take the words of a holographic image of a group of fighter pilots for Operation Enduring Freedom to heart, even though that mission failed horribly, it meant the Tenakth have the chance to do what General Herres couldn't, finally succeed.
The issue is people of the new world are unable to learn from the old world and its mistakes. Now they're doomed and have already been repeating them. Many of the tribes core beliefs are misogynistic and the old world records indicates they don't have much issue with that. The road or "path" less traveled in this case is not necessarily the better option. Ted Faro doomed them to repeat yet another cycle of ignorance and cruelty. They can't even defend themselves against the Zeniths and have no idea how their world works. Wisdom and knowledge are not exclusive, they go hand in hand
0:22 - 6:10 - there's smthng about the music and the narration by Morlund if you observe it closely, a bit hollow a bit content..as if wanting to take you back in time to meet your ancestors whom you've never seen, imagine the excitement and curiosity and questions and above all the blissful feeling in meeting the ones who led to your being.
Not going to spoil but I actually live in one of the cities in the game. Nice to see that it's been refounded just it is today. This part made my day. Thanks for making these I know it takes a lot of time and I as well as many here greatly appreciate it.
I have to say, that this video game, including this expansion, are probably the best that I have ever played. The detail of the Zero Dawn story was amazing. This one was pretty damn good too.

In the end it I candy that i it.
As much as I love watching this playthrough, I just wish you actually bothered to do the Cauldrons, even off-screen. The way you're heavily handicapping yourself (whether deliberately or not I cannot tell) by not being able to override even the most basic machines and flying machines you could have used as flying mounts is just frustrating to watch.

One of the weakest areas in this game is the exposition. So much exposition. It’s like you’re almost halfway through the game before you get through the prologue lol and the expedition dumps are just huge. I mean as a player you want to get out there and explore and battle of the machines and such. Instead you’re stuck in exposition for 30 or 45 minutes or more. It’s just crazy. And you can’t skip some of it because you have to go through every single option before you can find the one that will let you move forward in the game. Just ridiculous.
The game does way too much handholding in general - I played the first one and liked it but it was about 3 years ago and I can't remember it being this egregious. This one seems to appeal to the lowest common denominator in 'gamers' - there's a glowing vent or some interactive object RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU but Aloy has to 'suggest' that the user interacts with it. Genuinely struggling to understand how/why this game is rated so highly, appears to be a 7/10 game at best.

Instead of the player enjoying the challenge i’m figuring it out themselves. To me that’s a big part of the appeal of a game. Is when I get to the difficult areas figuring out the solution on my own. I want to try that before I have to go and get help. I don’t want the game to Spoonfeed me the answer. And what is with all of that inner dialogue crap. It’s really immersive breaking. And then the constant having to talk to every single person. You have to hit every single dialogue question or whatever with each person in order to find the right one to advance in certain parts of the game. I feel like I spent more time watching cut scenes and conversations but I did actually playing or fighting in the game. A huge disappointment as far as I’m concerned.

Go watch Gamer Clips then. He skips all the dialogue, all the side quests, notes, optional content, all you get is fights and parcour. I watched his walkthrough of Horizon Zero Dawn before this, I don't know who half of the characters are because they were all in skipped sidequests. AI enslaved by Hephaistos? No such recollection. That kid prince? Saw him for 3 seconds in HZD, The huntress with her thrush? Never met her. I definitely prefer this style.

The underwater scenes in the dorm are absolutely gorgeous. This game definitely is absolutely beautiful.
The swimming seems clunky, took away some of the immersion of the underwater biome.
