I used to work on building sites and the tipper drivers used to brush diesel onto the bed of the tipper to stop mud and tar sticking to the bed. Not sure how safe or legal it was but it seemed to work well.

Just to think Luke did 180 ton in those trips my mate drives the caterpillar tipper trucks on the mines in Australia, & they carry more than that one load just crazy. Plus the money is f#*king brilliant. 60k a year and that’s without overtime & bonuses!

Hi luke.will you get to o take earth to landfill sites which they use the earth to cover up the rubbish at the end of each day? Do tippee drivers like yourself get to haul broken bricks around or stuff like rubbish to?
What happens to the load where you deliver to?
How do I get into this industry mate? Best way to gain experience? Is it back and two all day to the same site? Thanks for the help

Are you allowed to put your Luke sigh on in your cab? I keep looking out for you but it’s hard to spot :)
That would have just been a manual entry because driver would probably have been on site fot 15 mins before left site and although daily checks need to be done obviously but it may have been on for its 6 weekly check which will be more thorough than most drivers would check it etc
But to be in truck for 2 or 3 minutes the tacho would read as checks were done

I've been doing some tipper work and class 1 general haulage in the last few weeks. I've found that although I work shorter hours on a tipper, I do more driving hours than on general haulage where the days are much longer. That's because with the tipper you rarely have to wait long to load or tip and your nearly always on the move, whereas on general haulage you often have to wait hours to load or tip which is very frustrating!

Luke, You should always get out and look at the back to check the lights are clear of dirt and that the tailboard is locked closed.

How are you finding it I'm in 2 minds to try tipper work what's the hours like work life balance?
@@muzzf2 i did tipper work for almost a year and it just depends on the company and also how much work they have at a particular time.. i usually started between 5-7am and finished betwern 5-7pm so was pretty brutal and often you have to work one saturday out of every fortnight but again it just all depends on the company and how busy they are!
See below comment however i dont mind long hours you get sometimes as i was doing max hours for around a year on palletised artic work
I notice that the music volume is a bit louder than when you are speaking, something to look at.
Just a minor detail though.
I lowered the music volume by -20DB while talking. I'll see if anyone else mentions it. Cheers mate 👌

Don't you guys have to clear the soil off the back after you tipped? I often get soil accumulating on top of the bumper bar on my fmx
That banding is a menace, I had a trip on a bit once carrying a can of hot bitumen, landed me in the burns unit for a fortnight

Can anyone tell me why he lifts the body up before he gets loaded? I have only driven our tipper at work twice and it has onboard weighing but never knew how it worked

I think a commentary video would be a great addition to your channels quality. When your skilled at a profession, your sub conscious will take over a lot of things naturally also by muscle memory. Im learning to drive, so would enjoy that video.
