  • This was a fun one they originally called about a water leak and they said they thought the freezer wasn't working because of the water leak. The water leak had absolutely nothing to do with the freezer.

Your videos were a driving force for me getting into this trade. I've been watching before I even signed up for school. I was looking into what I wanted to do as a career, and that's how I came up on your videos about 3 years ago. I just got another raise, so please keep making videos. I'd love some more ice machine videos because I'm still not too confident about them.

@@dd19892 The videos gave him the inspiration while in school to choose this career around 3 years ago. They recently just got another raise at their work (which I would gather is this same type of work, and congratulations hard work should always be praised) and still enjoy the videos while still not being that confident with the ice machines. Don't know where you got the idea that it was "because of the money?".

Watching about 3 years. Im a property investor/landlord with a bunch of R22 systems and wanted to keep them running till end of life rather than be forced to change them out prematurely. Found your channel searching TH-cam.
Learned a ton from you. Studied for and got my 608, and now do my own stunts for my property biz.
My primary full time job is tech and marketing. I used one of your vids about servicing the customers when they need you to help nudge one of my employees with a less than great attitude into understanding that we are here to serve the customer and not the other way round.
Last one of my tech/marketing consulting biz clients is in the industrial and process refirgertion biz they design and built large scale ammonia, C02, amd cascade systems. These vids help me serve them better on the marketing side.
Love the Fieldpiece gear. It's in my kit now.

Chris - I'm a home owner, not an HVAC professional. I have been watching for a few years. It started when I was trying to figure out who to believe - we had an issue with our old system and got conflicting diagnostics from local companies. I started searching TH-cam for videos on how residential split systems work and how to diagnose them. One of your videos on how to diagnose evaporator coil issues based on superheat readings gave me the information I needed to figure out which local company's diagnostic results to believe (partially plugged coil). That plus a natural curiosity on how HVAC works keeps me watching your videos. I've always been impressed at your professionalism and thoroughness, i.e., big picture. Keep up the great work and great videos.

I have been watching for about a month. I was once part of a family run electric motor repair shop, so I have repaired and rewound the larger hermetic motors, We also sold the smaller condenser fan motors and fan blades, and other related supplies. I did custom control panel for electric motor controls. Most of what you see up there I am very familiar. Some of the ac controls and system not so much, but I have a basic knowledge of how they work and continue to learn.

35:00 - Before listing many of the things I’ve learned from these videos, I’ll answer your question: I was introduced to your channel shortly after beginning, (two years ago - now completed) an HVAC/R class at a local technical school, by Brian Orr (another channel I found shortly after starting the class).
    Things learned from this channel:
    1. Brazing techniques (thank you for not speeding through the brazing part as some channels do.)
    2. Efficient tools to buy
    3. Evacuation techniques
    4. Charging techniques
    5. Deeper understanding of the basic refrigeration cycle
    6. Liquid line receiver purpose and position in the system
    7. Suction line accumulator purpose and position in the system
    8. Low and high pressure control function during pumpdown
    9. Head pressure control valve for low ambient control
    10. Technique for changing out a failed TEV
    11. Defrost termination and fan-delay relay
    12. Defrost clock settings for different applications
    13. Use of solenoid magnet to allow sufficient N2 flow for brazing and complete evacuation
    14. Efficient workflow organization
    15. Overall I have developed confidence in my ability to conquer all things refrigeration
The list continues to grow, thank you very much!

I’ve been watching TH-cam channel for I think a year or a year and a half and the video that was FIRST recommended to me when I didn’t know about your channel was ‘HURRY I THINK WE HAVE A FEW ACs DOWN’. I’ve been in this trade for 4 years now and I only do commercial install/new construction with in the Detroit Metro area. I’ve wanted to do service calls (in fact I do as a side job from time to time when people need me) so I can learn how to diagnose such units and either repair or replace units should they need to by a customer order from big picture diagnosis and quotes. After watching your videos, I couldn’t resist to subscribe because every video I watch of yours makes me learn something new. I can’t recommend your channel enough my guy and I hope you keep going with this channel and with all your friends on HVAC overtime. Such an honor to watch your videos and wish I could come to SoCal to learn even more from ya. Keep up the hard and great work good sir!

Hi Chris. I've been a subscriber for almost three years now. I live over here in the Northeast (Connecticut). I just typed hvac into the search bar on TH-cam and that's how I found your channel. I love how methodical you are with your processes. You explain what your doing in a way that seems it works well for newer techs and veterans as well. I worked for a refrigeration company right out of school. And since that semester was basically shot because of things going on with the school (my entire class missed out on that semester). I was overwhelmed by the scope of the equipment. I only lasted almost two years with them. They fired me because I couldn't get it. Since watching you, I've learned more than school and all the time in the field. I wish I could've worked for someone like you! Thank You for sharing your "little bit of knowledge" with us😁😎

For those that dont know LAC stands for Low Ambient Control. I've added head pressure controls like this to split system type of equipment ( non refrigeration style ). It really is the one of the best ways to operate a system in low ambient situations. Its better than fan cycling, fan speed and at least on par with fully digital scrolls. I feel its just as safe as comps that modulate speed....which can have their own set of issues....mainly the reduced speed....can create oil return issues and its reliant on controls and sensors to make it operate. This type of "dumb" control requires no wiring, no sensors. Is it 100% bulletproof....no...but nothing ever is.

I've been watching for a couple of years. Started watching when I was trying to find a career change then realized I'm toooo dang old for that but I kept on watching because it's so great to see someone doing the job right and who looks at the "big picture". I do IT work and it's so rare to have people be able to see the big picture in this field too.

Found this channel more than 2 years ago while randomly browsing tech stuff on youtube. I like watching technicans do their work both IRL and on the net since i was a kid. Not a HVAC tech but i learned few things, even tried some brazing and I'm glad i did.

found your channel 4+yrs ago. i was having issues with my home AC and was researching AC upkeep. i also work maintenance at a southern US casino where HVAC issues abound with our humidity. even considered adding a HVAC cert to my skill set. i currently just use what ive learned to help with our ice machine cleanings. i liked the way you presented the material, your troubleshooting method and your work ethic with the field. i was able to replace the capacitor and AC breaker to limp my home AC system along until had to get a new unit right before 2020. i have since been taking care of my own home system cleanings and saving $$ not having a service do it. can't wait to see more of your home HAVC progression. thanks

I believe ive been watching for at least 4 years. You came up as a recommendation and the attention to detail had me subscribing instantly. Im up in the high desert and i work in the IE as a local truck driver so i have a bit of fun and see if i recognize an area you worked or if i get lucky, spot you and the team up on a rooftop lol. Ive also gained a lot of info brushing up on hvac and with that ive helped a lot of people avoid being overcharged for work that didnt need to be done, so much appreciation for that.

I really enjoy the way you explain things. Using the things I have subconsciously learned from your channel I've been able to fix my ac unit twice. I just really enjoy your videos. Thank you Chris.

I've been watching your videos for about 4 years. I was taking electrical courses at the time, and I think I stumbled upon your videos from the good ol' YT algorithm, was probably watching a bunch of electrical videos at the time. I got my electrical certificate and been doing HVAC for 3.5 years now. If I ever decide to switch to more refrigeration, I will be watching a lot of your videos again. I've learned a ton from you, thank you so much for the videos, you do nice work!

I think I've been watching your channel on and off since the first covid lockdown here. Back then, I needed something to extract myself from the daily whirlpool.
I'm not a HVAC technician and wouldn't touch an existing unit, but curiosity pulled me to understand how these systems work and your content is a big help.

  • @dashcamandy2242
    @dashcamandy2242 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Of course we're gonna watch your videos, Chris! You're sensible, down-to-earth, and you give a straightforward explanation as to HOW you reach your diagnoses. You take most of the mystery out of HVAC, and I think those of us not in the field appreciate this and can follow you easily through the steps. I feel confident in stating that a good portion of us are probably shouting out our "keyboard warrior diagnosis" in each video.
I've been watching for two or three years now... Maybe four? Out of the blue, you popped up onto my YT main page, and I thought "why not check out some different content?" I don't remember what video it was, but I subscribed after watching that video. I appreciate the no-nonsense approach, and I've learned loads from you about HVACR - which has helped me immensely at home (in-window AC unit that didn't need replacement, just a good condenser cleaning) and in automotive as well to diagnose car AC systems (as I've said before, and I will probably say again, the basics apply regardless of the application). You don't edit out your mistakes, and that speaks volumes as to your integrity and honesty.
I also am a massive believer in PM and "big picture" diagnosis. Sometimes system failures come from multiple issues, and taking in the whole picture means you can apply a repair that will prevent call-backs or increase the longevity of a particular unit. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
I wish you operated in Connecticut, because I would INSIST that my place of employment have you under contract. After all, the exhaust fan I reported as not working in October 2021 is STILL not working, and not once has anybody even cared to have a tech give it a once-over. For all I know, it could simply be a broken belt... Alas, I have no roof access, so I can't get up there and diagnose it myself! (And you bet your butt I would be!)
At the previous workplace (the fried chicken establishment) when we had to open the roof hatch to get indoor temperatures under control because our AC quit, I was walking on the roof one night before shutting the hatch, just looking around and thinking, "I know what ALL of this stuff up here does, and I know the basics of how it operates, just from watching Chris." It was a pretty good feeling.
Looking forward to your continued success, I can't wait to see what Summer 2023 brings us!

I am in a situation where i need to understand refrigeration and do as much as i can myself. I have an old theater with a worthington compressor in the boiler room and a newer, as in from the 80s bac cooling tower on the roof. I also buy auction display coolers prep tables etc. It really helps learning the proper techniques and brazing. Thanks so much. This was beyond what i do but still helpful.
