    Our walls are painted the same and even have the exact same wheelbarrow with one handle missing! We used to have shavings like that but mixed with pellets; i've never seen anyone else use shavings with such fine flake, like a guinea pig bed. If you keep it dry it does filter through your shavings fork well.

      Small flake I would say

    • @SobrietyandSolace

      @@equievolvecoaching I'm so unused to that; it's like a giant guinea pig's bed. I imagine a thin bed of that would get saturated very quickly but if you use the massive quantities that you do it helps keep it dry and the flakes pass through the shaving fork easier than something like, say, BedMax

    Why are there sooo many shavings in your stall? Like, I understand if you want to spoil your horse or whatever, but at the same time it makes it really difficult to get pee shavings, and after a while the shavings you don't use, get really dusty. Like, please stack your shavings on the corners or around the sides if you want to give your horse THAT much shavings.

      Nura Ahktele I give my ponies a whole stable of shavings as they really old and need comfort/support

    • @joieellington399
      @joieellington399 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Beth Dawson In your case, it makes sense to give your pony that many shavings, granted I do not know the horse that is staying in this stall. But it still does not make sense in her case personally. I have glanced over her channel, and believe that none of her horses would need this many shavings. Does that make her a bad person? No, I just think it's a bit of a waste.

      Nura Ahktele The thickness of this posters bed is the perfect depth for ensuring that valuble animals are kept safe from knocks/bumps/scrapes and have a comfortable place to sleep/rest.
      The practice of only putting a small flat square in the corner of a stable, or a scattering of shavings over rubber matting is frankly both false economy and lazy horsemanship.
      Look in any book from the 60's/70's/80's written on stable management and the straw beds were almost up to the knee in depth and the banks double that. It is good practice plain and simple.
      Also, the shavings will not get dusty if the banks are dropped and rotated as shown here.

      we make sure our beds are deep, our animals are kept safe by this and if cleaned properly, cause no issue, in fact we find deep beds much easier to clean.
