    I literally cry while watching this video. Nobody blame anybody on this situation, it just happened. Everyone around was being supportive. It’s ok that Sutan’s crying and being grumpy, she is not being called a bad kid. It’s ok that Moe is having a hard time dressing up Sutan, she is not being called a bad mom. It’s ok to wake up the dad and help. It’s ok to let grandparents see the not so perfect situation. Sutan is going to grow into an adult that will allow her own emotions without guilt. Everything in this video is so precious. For me in the end when I see Sutan didn’t wear the kimono, I literally burst into tears. Even that is ok, the event is important but what is more important is Sutan’s feeling. Thank you Moe for sharing your life with us. The demonstration of patience, love and compassion is priceless.

      Yeah they dont know how to deal with stress and so seeing their parents stressed freaks them out and in turn makes the parents more stressed from the tantrum which makes everything worse its a vicious cycle but yeah you gotta try to think of children as not mindless blank puppets but little new people who are basically alien to everything and then add on being tired and the stress and the oversimulation of family members anyone would react like that tbh. I mean just think of wedding days this is the biggest event suchans had to deal with and she has very little concept or understanding of it all because of her age its natural shed try to control what she could about the whole thing to make herself feel less stressed and more tethered and safe in the situation and that was her own body she was asserting dominance over since she coulsnt do so over the situation shes obviously been well raised and given choices and hd them respected in regards to her body clothing hair etc so shes saying no to what she can and wanting to feel confortable in what she knows because everything else she doesnt. And while logically i can understand that in that situation i wouldnt have handled that nearly half as well as moe etc did i genuinely wouldve snapped and lost my cool and not respected her choice or gotten consent i wouldve being raised in a wedtern more traditonal aka opposite of gentle parenting absolutely would hve threatened to take away snacks toys not been affection or nice and ignored her feelings and made her wear and do what i wanted and then if she did probably give her cake or something only afterward and treated her like a person then but by then that broken trust and fear/anger reaction wouldve already badly affected the relationshio and the child themselves all for what a silly outfit for a day she wont even remember that she also has 2 others to come not to mention birthdays etc i mean its silly but like most people were parented and then taught or not taught thats how wwe should handle things and behave even though we absolutely shouldnt. And then youd have to deal with mom guilt on top of all of that like yeah its hard as hell to be a good parent its even harder remembering that every way you react and behave is how your child and likely theres will so making yourself break shitty cycles and instead gentle parent or respectfully parent a child is super hard but super worth it. So seeing moe do such an amazing job even when things are super hard and stressful and with family around i feel so proud of her shes such a great role model. And shes a first time mother so its even more impressive.

    Moe, I am really amazed with your patience towards Sutan. I learn a lot form you. I have two kids 6 and 3. And it can be overwhelming sometimes when we have events like that. Things don't always go out as I planned and that upset me. But seeing your video made me realized that what matters the most is that our children are having fun. there's always next time to wear matching clothing and stuff. Thanks for that.

    When I was in Japan, I was staying with a couple who had a daughter and they were preparing for her first Shichi-Go-San.
    It was a nightmare for them!
    I was woken early that morning by the girl crying, the mum was crying, the dad was trying to console both. She too, did not wear the kimono or have her hair done. But this year she turned 5 and was SO SO excited to celebrate Shichi-Go-San!
    I saw pictures of her with her hair done and her kimono on and she apparently didn't want to take it off for bed!
    Sutan will be more understanding when she is older, I am so sure!

    I just wanted to say that you are such wonderful parents. It made me really sad at the same time because I realized how differently I was raised. Had it been me as a tender 2 year old in the same situation my parents would have forced me and if I cried they would have beat my a@@ till they broke my spirit all to get me in the kimono to show what "wonderful" parents they were having such a "well behaved" child. Thank you for respecting Sutan and being so kind and gentle with her. I often wish I would have had parents like you but we deal with the hand that we are dealt.

      That's the beauty of being under 5 years old. We learn the essential stuff and forget the trauma. Every wee thing that we don't understand is a trauma for us at that age but being human and growing up means continuous acclimatization. As long as it's a happy family, no "spirit" will be "broken"

    • @swordchild0013
      @swordchild0013 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@misterkayy What a load of nonsense - it's very optimistic of you to think that a parent would stop the behaviour that got 'a well-behaved child' when they are over 5 years old. As for a 'happy family' - plenty of family look happy but arent - they are plenty of 'happy-looking' families - with miserable kids itching to leave home- and with parents later wondering 'what have I done?' There is no excuse to beat up a kid - especially over something like this when they dont understand what is going on- and thank goodness the parents here have more sense than to do that.

      I think at this point they should have left her alone not talk to her or let her play with things until she calmed down and realized what she was doing wrong. By distracting her she lost focus and of course she would go right back to screaming and kicking when she realized she was being dressed again. That is what i would have done. Distraction is good but not always the best solution. Kids need to understand that their actions have reprocutions and if left alone or something like timeout, she would have had time to either understand shes wrong or at least realize what it was that she needed to stop doing if she wanted her parents attention and to play with her toys . At that point she would realize that wearing a kimono isnt worth the tantrum and woul have given up on it. By distracting her she kept getting what she wanted which for kids at this age is a no no.

      @@pazhallusta1897 She wasn't feeling comfortable wearing the kimono. Is she wrong about this to the point where she needs to "be ignored by her parents to give in"? You must be an adult, do you think that today you would like to be ignored by someone who doesn't agree with what you want to wear or not? Why would this be different with children? Children are not toys to do what you want with them and want them not to feel anything about it. If that's what you want, it's better to buy a doll than have children. They are people with feelings and individuality, it is not because they are children that they should be deprived of that. Moe did the right thing by respecting Sutan's wish. You can set expectations on yourself, but not on others because people aren't always going to act the way you want them to, especially children. We can sum it all up in one word: RESPECT.

    • @Kat_Fe
      @Kat_Fe 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@pazhallusta1897 This approach is suitable for situations when the child is misbehaving, doing something, or acting in a way that is socially unacceptable, rude, selfish, etc. In those cases, you do need to be firm as a parent, otherwise, they might grow into asshole adults. BUT this was not the case at all. A child crying because she isn't comfortable with something is not a reason to punish her. If you assume that every time your child doesn't like something you do to them they must be misbehaving and punish them for it, you might actually create lots of resentment in the child later on.

My heart melted whenever I would see children and their mama’s wearing beautiful kimonos :) it was such a wonderful day! I cherish that memory a lot!
    Keep up the good work Moe! I wish you the best!

    When my children were that age, my mother-in-law told me that you really can't logically reason with children until they are four-years-old. I commend all of you for your patience. I had many times as a mother of toddlers when I was in tears trying to get them ready for special occasions and they would not cooperate. We've had crying meltdowns in church, in restaurants, etc. It's just part of life. You and Moto do so well in raising her. God bless your family.

    It's actually so nice to see how they all dealt with the situation and didn't force Sutan to wear the kimono. When I was a kid my mum made us wear traditional clothing to temples but I really hated it and refusing to wear it mean she'll just yells at me. So being forced to wear something when I didn't want to left a bad memory of the day. So I really praise them all for understanding Sutan and not forcing her to do anything she didn't want.
