It is also worth noting to check the weather. Many hikers have died when a violent rain storm hits and creates a flood in those slot canyons. Great video. Thanks!
Really nice video of this slot canyon. It's been decades since I've seen it but boy did your video bring back great memories ... Nice video work ... 👍👌👍
Just found your channel and I really like these videos.. I love Texas and all the History. The canyon made me wonder if there were any outlaws that hid out there.. I grew up in Amarillo and I moved to Austin in my 20's. What a change!! I love the Hill County and at that time I sold Bank equipment so I got to visit a lot of the little towns like Llano, Marble Falls, Boerne, Bandera, Johnson city, Fredericksburg, and so many more. It was just beautiful i thought.. Of course when you grow up in Amarillo, anywhere is nice.. I can't wait to see where you visit next!
Mid December. The trail was closed beyond that point likely because of perceived risk but I never asked about it. I went a little past there anyway because I've been a few times before.
I fell inside the canyon in June of 2020. Deatroyed my shoulder and was very luckily found about 30 hours after I went in. I was trying to walk nw up Colorado canyon and got stuck up on the cliff. Crazy story. All in all, ther was 19 other people involved in my rescue. They put up that chain after my incident. Another guy fell deeper in the canyon, broke a foot and was found a day or 2 later. That the year before me I think. Another guy's body was found from a catastrophic fall days and days later by helicopter. That was 2 years before me. That very well could've been me. I went down into the canyon too far and couldn't get back up one of the pour offs. They get 20 foot or so deep. They need ladders or you have to have rope and experience to get to the Rio Grande through Closed Canyon. I'd love to see all of your footage (from your canoe trip) in Colorado canyon just nw of the exit to Closed canyon. If you look up to the left about 300-500 yds before the exit, you should be able to see the rope that the rescuers left up there when they had to get me down. Thanks for letting me share. I wish someone told me how rough it gets as you go further.

Nice
Let everybody know where you are and for how long.
Touch bases before and after your journey.
I'm always curious what you do when you need to get back to your truck with your kayak??
I had someone else to meet me at the takeout point
Great video, what camera did you shoot this with, good work.
Thanks. I used a gopro
nice vid, I see you posted this on the 10th, when actually did you do this hike? Did you ever find out why the trail was closed?
