  • I have had this PCB laying around for quite some time, and I have been looking forward to do the actual build. This time we populate the keyboard with keycaps, we place and solder inn all of the last parts. Lots and lots of soldering. The design of this is called the Omega MSX2, and is done by Sergey Kiselev. I have done some other projects by him. Among others the Micro 8088, The ISA disk and serial controller, the ISA super VGA, and the XT-CF-Lite. This was well before my TH-cam days. In this first installment we did go through the BOM, the PCB, and starts populating the board. As always I try to give some advice along the way. The first episode started with the name "The Omega MSX2 computer build. Off to an easy start" but I was convinced to make it more snappy. This is the second part, and this part also contains some useful info about why your caps fail, and why it’s not always a good idea to change them. github.com/ski... www.malinov.com... www.msx.org/ne... #MSX #KitComputer #RetroComputers #msx2

Good stuff as always, man. Work such as this should not be done hurriedly, so speeding up the work to fit the video is one way to show everything (folks wanting to see a particular sped-up section can use the playback control to slow it down if something interests them). I like the way you operate.

I am a MSX freak, and I built an Omega by myself. The difference is that I'm a newbie in iron soldering, so it's instructive to see these videos in order to learn from people who knows more than me.
    Cheers!

Nice improvisations! I always like to see a bit of that in a build, even if unintentional, as it reminds me of older electronics, computers especially, and how many had factory bodge-wires installed as designs were updated. (or as a way to make functional units from boards that were made slightly wrong)

Thank you, I had the PCB's made up for an Omega about a year ago and then other projects took priority. Your video series inspired me to actually get to work building it now! Got my big box o' parts from Mouser today!
