Amazing tip. I have scrubbed my rectangle drip pans from my old 90's hi-point oven/range so many times to fail at getting them clean,. Today I looked into replacing them and it would cost $300.00 as this is such an old oven/range. I did liberally apply the cleaner, and put them in larger plastic bags as ziplock is not big enough. I left them soak for about an hour, and they are almost perfectly clean compared to how awful they were. I expect when I do this cleaning again, it will remove what material remains. Thanks.

I had a mess on the side of the refrigerator next to the stove. Nothing would take it off. But I got some oven cleaner from Dollar tree and sprayed it on there and left it awhile. It's the only thing that worked. I did the same thing on the stove top. Both the refrigerator and the stove were painted surfaces, but it didn't bother the paint at all.
Next, I'll be using it on my drip pans.

    • @aweoak7763

Because the chrome finish is too thin & so the intense heat from the burner kills the chrome finish.

I lived in an apartment complex for several years, and before I moved out, I had cleaned my apt. thoroughly, so I'd get my deposit back.
But - although I'd cleaned the oven and stove range hood, I'd forgotten to clean the stove drip pans!! I didn't have the option of soaking/scrubbing them overnight, as I had to be outta there that very day! Plus, I was exhausted from moving.
So, I went to W-Mart and found a pack of chrome-looking drip pans, all shiny and new, for $8.00. I paid it gladly, since I knew the apt manager charged $10 per drip pans that weren't clean. I'd have had $40 taken out of my deposit, so while I paid $8 for a 4-pack of drip pans, I saved $32 that I would have lost otherwise.
To you and anyone else reading this: DON'T feel guilty about going this route. The el-cheapo $8 pack is EXACTLY the same quality and type of drip pans that your apt complex buys, for new tenants. (Except their cost is $5 for a 4-pack, as they buy in bulk). The $8 pack at W-Mart is NOT what you want to buy and use, if you want quality drip pans that won't rust and will look great after cleaning them. But the $8 pack IS a perfect solution, when you're moving out. They are not chrome or stainless steel, they're thin aluminum - but that's the very same type complexes buy for their apts. I didn't know this, back when I bought those at W-Mart
I learned it through a good friend of mine, who is the manager of 2 apt complexes.

I believe this is the oven cleaner we used in our home and we only used it once because of the fumes. We were afraid that our toddler was going to breath it in. I've looked all over the place for those 'clips' that go on the drip pans (aka: drip bowls) to hold the element in the drip pan's notch. Tried to buy drip pans (via Amazon) with those clips but was lied to and ended up with drip pans without the clips.
If the only way I can get those clips is to buy drip pans that have them, I will.
Any help you can offer to point me in the right direction will be appreciated.
