Japanese take their voice acting extremely seriously. It is truly an art form.
Protip: *all* VAs take what they do for a living, very seriously. It's true that Japanese is one of the biggest VO industries - but it's in no way bigger than the English-speaking industry, if that's what you're implying.

I respect Japanese voice acting, but I don't know when it became common to dismiss other dub voice actors as not taking their own careers and performances seriously, when in fact they all do.
(Not saying the oc was implying all of this, but you guys get the idea.)
Huzaifa Ahmed my words of choice were quite poor, what I should've said is that the Japanese VA industry is massive and extremely competitive. It is a cultural phenomenon there and people like Masako get paid more than movie actors. English on the other hand do not get paid as much doing dub overs, but there is massive money to be made in Hollywood grade Prelay gigs. I didn't mean to offend anyone either since I myself am also a VA in training in the west and we have a great community out here.
Alexander Aramaki You felt like equating dubs with original VO pay, yeah.& to be clear, Nick/Disney *is* Hollywood, & cartoon pay is higher than JP. Anime dub sadly pay *terribly.*
Huzaifa Ahmed I also forgot to mention the VA scene is in Vancouver BC and California not Texas where Funimation is located. That may be why we have Chris Sabatt working on a budget and doing like 10 different voices once they started to dub after Ocean Media. I agree though that Hollywood tier VA in English is top notch but I was mainly making a comparison for the Anime dubbing scene.

I understand people who grew up with dub schemmel finds Masako's voice acting weird because they are not used to his light and childish voice because Schemmel has a pretty dark voice. I grew up with Masako Nozawa's Son Goku and her voice fits the character so fucking well!!

Hell, basically half of the entire cast of the show is voice by Chris Sabat. And that's the way it is with a lot of anime FUNimation has dubbed. Honestly, I never really cared for Chris Sabat's voice acting. Some of his voices, like Yamcha and Zarbon, are... okay, but my god... his Vegeta, his Piccolo, his Yi Xing Long (Omega Shenron for the dubbies out there), his Reacum, his Butta, his Jheese, etc... all just sound GOD FUCKING AWFUL. ESPECIALLY his Vegeta. MY FUCKING GOD HIS FUCKING VEGETA. Chris Sabat just voices Vegeta like a bad WWE wrestler's shitty stage persona. It sucks ass nowdays and it used to be much, MUCH worse when he first started. Can't stand it.
